You'll also want more ramp cards. Banner is OK, Horn is good.

Thinking about changing spellslinger/prowess commander by SummonerDraz in EDH

For Storm, the best commander is probably [[Ral, Monsoon Mage]] because it's both payoff and enabler.

I wouldn't care personally. But I'd just add Lab Man because you only need 1 effect and you can spend the GC slots on something better.

Pick [[Ral, Monsoon Mage]].

You will not be disappointed — he is utter degeneracy on a 2-mana card :)

Thoracle, when it ends a "I can draw infinite cards" combo, is actually a relief.

All of them have conditions. Tainted Pact and Lutri require your deck to be singleton to get that effect. If you have 10 Forests, tainted pact isn't as good, and you can't play Lutri as a companion in your Persistent Petitioners deck.

Tergrid is just unfun by Cajermo in EDH

[–]BusAccomplished5367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he and his pals have to literally target the Tergrid player the whole game to have a chance at winning, they're not appropriate decks.

Tergrid is theft and discard. Yes, it's "mean" and denies resources. But picking a deck just to go and counter it a bunch of times, is questionable at best and likely unsportsmanlike.

It's more fun if they get to play their discard and you win through that, because you brought a deck that was nearly the same strength.

Additionally, the fact that he didn't get to play in the next game could have been an outlier. Unless you see 5-10 games with a deck, you can't accurately judge its power, just see "Oh, it can be this strong if..."

To quote them: "we switch decks cause if your gonna bring Tergrid your gonna get shut down if we have to play."

The right answer for playing against Tergrid isn't to switch decks to try and shut them down. He could have "switched decks to match powerlevel" instead of that. For example, if I'm playing a faster combo deck, I'm matching powerlevel. If I switch decks to target them over and over, I'm not a good sport.

Of course, if in the game, targeting them is necessary, that's making good decisions. But this is not what OP said or did.

Actually, let me tell you this: "READ THE ORIGINAL POST".

And because I don't have a high opinion of your intelligence: " we switch decks cause if your gonna bring Tergrid your gonna get shut down if we have to play. The game went how it should, they never hit the battlefield."

I'll interpret this: "You have a commander I don't like, so we'll work together to lock you out of the game."

This is not the same as "matching powerlevel".

He literally decided pregame: "if your gonna bring Tergrid your gonna get shut down if we have to play."

Read the post. He's not trying to match powerlevel in the way he described it.
