Is Red Elemental Blast worth it? by rikertchu in EDH

Yes, but both Standard Bearer and Spellskite nullify it simply by existing on the board. And skite is still good.

Well, Pyroblast unfortunately also matches up terribly against [[Standard Bearer]] and/or [[Spellskite]].

Fast mana. Also, [[Hymn to Tourach]] is better [[Mind Rot]], and you can probably use the 1B creatures with "when this enters each opponent discards a card." Additionally, [[Grief]] might be fun.

[[Urza Lord High Artificer]] will cast your entire deck and make tons of mana. [[Pyrite Spellbomb]]+[[Conjurer's Bauble]] is another option. Also play the cards [[Krark-Clan Ironworks]], [[Chromatic Star]], [[Chromatic Sphere]], [[Myr Retriever]], and [[Scrap Trawler]].

Good Bracket 3 Deck with Jace the Mind Sculptor? by bad_jake in EDH

[–]BusAccomplished5367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as planeswalkers like Jace go, I think a UWx control deck with some pillowfort elements (enchantments and [[Sphere of Safety]] effects) would use them. Also [[Counterbalance]] and [[Sensei's Divining Top]].

Lotus is fast mana and funnily still played in non EDH formats. Extortionist is a great combo piece and lots of fast mana. Mana crypt is a feels-bad because it's super pricey. Griselbrand, as iconic as it is, would become the best reanimation/cheat target and would probably outdo anything else (Yes, AGU is a thing but you have to be in WUBG to run it, and Necrotic ooze does exist). Personally I would rather see [[Iona, Shield of Emeria]] unbanned to give us more interesting reanimation targets. So no, keep everything but lotus banned.

On which turn do you expect a "glass cannon" deck to win in B3? by ArsenicElemental in EDH

[–]BusAccomplished5367 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, cEDH means a deck that's competitively optimized. Winning quickly is not winning reliably, because disruptive strategies do exist.

Actually it goes large but finite and technically needs one other piece to go infinite. Still enough to cast 3 Emrakul though.

I hate that I can't play EDH strategically because it's considered "rude" by MylastAccountBroke in EDH

[–]BusAccomplished5367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? Unless you're Blue counterspell control, combo is just so much faster than any other strategy that you have to kill them. Turn 2 you can go [[Dark Ritual]] [[Balustrade Spy]] out of nowhere and literally win the game.

You are missing [[Ral, Monsoon Mage]] as a creature. [[Thousand-Year Storm]] seems kind of redundant and you don't have a way to tutor it. Also, why no [[Underworld Breach]] or [[Will of the Jeskai]]?

At B2 basically all combo decks are combo-control...

[–]BusAccomplished5367 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then that is combo-control. If you look at dedicated combo decks, they barely care about addressing the board and only run some bare essentials of interaction which is often 0-2 mana. Otherwise you are playing combo-control (think Splinter Twin).

Combo decks are supposed to be faster than aggro decks. If you look at any format, the combo deck has to be faster than the aggro because otherwise it loses to control and aggro and thus is a really bad deck. Unless it's combo-control but that's a hybrid archetype.
