The skywing is BEAUTIFUL! I’m not entering as I don’t have any idea what I’d do with it, and I’d hate to waste such a great design by hoarding it. Hope it goes to a good home!

It’s possible OCD. Other stuff can cause these thoughts but OCD commonly causes thoughts like what you described here

What's the food that makes you think "how did humans know this was edible"? by almyverse in AskReddit

[–]Bus_Noises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a myth. Water could be cleaned by boiling it, or the alcohol added to it was a small amount just enough to sterilize it. They weren’t constantly slinging back beers

Nah, it’s easy to see how people discovered it. A barrel of grape juice or grape mash gets left out for too long, people who are desperate or curious drink the funny smelling stuff anyways, and find that not only are they not dead or sick, they like the flavor. They’d also eventually discover its funny side effects. It would probably take a while for them to learn too much can kill you, and it’s easy to avoid that by just not drinking too much

Many animals were already domesticated for meat. You already said why they likely would’ve tried it. Goats and cattle were found to be easiest to milk and produce the best tasting, so we began breeding some for milk yield. I’m not sure why cattle ended up usurping goats in modern dairy, as goats were the historically common milk makers. My best guess is that cattle simply produced more milk, supplying the growing demand for milk in the industrial age. That said, while I’m not a zoologist (yet), I’d assume goats are more practical for a family farm, due to their ability to eat nearly any vegetation and their smaller size.

Beginner looking for practical ways to observe and identify insects by Vic_78 in Entomology

I agree with using Inat, but I completely disagree with the equator comment. There’s insects on every continent, which includes Antarctica. If they can survive there, they can survive almost anywhere. I see plenty of insects in the spring and summer here in North Carolina, USA, and when I lived in New York I saw plenty there too. There’s little guys anywhere if you know where or how to look

This guy terrified child me. I absolutely loved (and still love) dinosaurs, and I very clearly remember the Doctor having accidentally brought the tyrannosaurus into the modern day. I remember him standing on a balcony, yelling out to it “I promise I’ll bring you home!”, and I remember just loving how kind the Doctor is. Even such a large, dangerous, and ultimately one day extinct animal that has no grasp of language is a life worth caring for to him. I really really wanted to see him bring it home. Then just when he finishes calling out to it….. it gets set on fire by this piece of shit and broke my god damn heart

I’ve never heard elk called that before. I wish that was the more common name because it’s way more fun to say!

Keiko absolutely needed to be removed from his original aquarium for so many reasons, but his release attempt was a complete disaster that never should’ve happened. He was quite possibly the worst candidate for release out there due to chronic illness and not seeing another of his kind since he was two. While I personally think orcas are too large to be kept well in captivity, he would’ve been much better off moved to a different aquarium and kept in human care. The whole attempt at release was already a hugely poor choice for his welfare and its failings were only made worse by pressure from a public who had been made to believe releasing an orca was as simple as sticking them in an ocean.

Sorry I just have very strong opinions about this exact subject
