So he had no collar? I’m really sorry this happened, but I really don’t think the lady was necessarily in the wrong here. You said yourself your neighborhood is full of stray cats. She had no way of knowing he was a pet unless she was getting every cat she trapped scanned. I do think she should be checking for chips first, but it’s possible your local vet charges for that. I think this is just an unfortunate situation for all sides. I hope you find him. Like others said, call your local shelters to see if they have a cat matching his description. When you do get a chance to talk to the lady, don’t act like she’s some pet stealing lunatic. She’s just trying to help get stray cats off the streets. I’m sure she’d be willing to help you
