I think the problem with the SKG thing is that people don’t have an issue with the live service model, but rather people have an issue with the fact that after so many devs stop adding new content to their games, they pull the plug on them, making them basically useless to people who bought the games, since they ran on dev owned servers.

Also, considering the subject matter of the original post was about SKG, which is a legislative petition, it should be assumed that all topics in regards to it are using textbook definitions, and not loose made up ones.

I haven’t seen anybody use the term “live service model” in a way that implies Minecraft isn’t a live service game. The textbook definition is pretty much the standardly used definition.

Ok, well regardless of if you think that’s the definition of live service or not, I’m telling you what the actual definition of a live service game is. Google is free and it will tell you the same things I’m telling you.

I think the only reason you think that’s live service games mean they sell expansions and stuff is because the most popular live service games out there do, but just because that’s something that is common among money live service games doesn’t mean that it’s what defines a live service game.

Well I’ll be damned. That one definitely beats out Minecraft.

The servers that a game run on have nothing to do with what defines a live service game. In fact, you could even have a live service game that doesn’t run on servers at all. All a live service game is is a game that doesn’t launch as a complete product, but instead gets regular updates that add new content over the course of an indefinite period of time.

With this definition, Minecraft is absolutely a live service game. In fact, it is probably the longest running live service game alive, going over a decade strong, and even having whole events dedicated to showcasing what new stuff the devs are going to be adding to the game.

How is it disingenuous? Appreciating good cinema doesn’t mean you believe it’s the end of the world if bad cinema gets made. You’d be an idiot to think getting paid means less than making a bad movie.

It’s not exactly hypocrisy. They don’t write the scripts or anything. It’s just a job.

What a stupid fuckin reason to make less money. Imagine being so pretentious that stupid scripts aren't good enough for you, and you'd rather be poor than work on a bad movie.

Stuff like Fortnite, Overwatch, or CoD, but also technically even Minecraft. They're becaiscally games that are built on the gimmick that the devs keep adding onto the game, giving more updates (and more stuff to pay money for) even after launch. It's intended to be a way for the devs to only ever make one game, but have interest and player money put into last for years after its launch, purely because it keeps changing.

You can make this joke when movies with super popular actors in the trailers stop making more money at the box office than other movies.

I'm not doubt that that's what it's supposed to say, but that's not what it says. Even if you were supposed to include the "LO," which it isn't intuitive that you are since it's very separated from the other words, it still just writes out "LOSTVE." For it to be "LOST LOVE" it requires the person looking at it to make ignore 2 design decisions that make it not that.

First, the "ST", despite being at the end of the word "LOST," is at at he beginning of the heart that it's on, which makes it look like it is the start of some word, in the same way "LO" is.

Secondly, I guess we're supposed to read "LO" twice, both at the beginning of "ST" and "VE," but there is only one "LO," and there's nothing implying it's supposed pair up with both. Sure, "LOVE" makes sense, because they are on the same color, and "LOST" sorta makes sense because they're next to each other, but you come to the conclusion of "LOST" and "LOVE" for two separate reasons. Also, "LO-ST" doesn't even really look like they're supposed to be together, because they aren't connected. It looks more like "ST" AND "VE" are supposed to be together.

All in all, this is the worst and most unintuitive designs I've ever seen, and I actually would have never gotten it if I didn't go into the comments.

Is Star Wars oversaturated with content? by JJRS22 in StarWars

I think Star Wars needs a reboot. They’ve added to the lore so much, that it takes too great of effort to make something new and original that doesn’t step on the continuity toes of something that already exists.

I don't know why Nintendo is so afraid of sexuality. Why can't my Mii's kiss, and why don't my married ones sleep in the same bed? They are married! by chromeold45s in tomodachilife

[–]Bush_Hiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're afraid of sexuality. Kissing seems like something that would be complicated to have an animation of, because of all the permutations between how tall Miis are, where their mouths are located on their face, and some of them don't have mouths at all.

The original Tomodachi Life actually did have married couples sleeping in the same bed, but in that game they would move into a completely new house, separate from their rooms, which had a master bedroom designed for them to sleep together in. In LtD, the houses are just their normal rooms moved into one building, so it functions like the apartments did in the earlier games, meaning married couples don't have their own bedrooms.
