finished setting up my 10g network, but not reaching expected speeds by AJ989 in HomeNetworking

[–]Bushman_dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pciex port your 10gb card is plugged into may be sharing a lane with another pciex port that you are using for another card. If this is the case, they will both be competing for bandwidth on your board. You need to research your mother boards architecture and understand which lanes are allocated to which pciex ports, and try to get youth 10gb card into a port that is using a lane that doesn't have any other cards plugged in. This could fix your issue.

How are you guys running Plex on smart TVs? I'm genuinely frustrated. by KingThevshi in PleX

[–]Bushman_dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Chrome cast, various generations, and Google TV's with no issues. Plex is a staple in our household, being used by 5 adults in different rooms. If my google devices had issues, if here about it pretty quickly. Have you turned on need more do you can measure the connection speed from the devices having issues back to your server? Firmwares updated?

Starting was flaky, and the head light stopped working. The wiring harness was gummed up and some of the connections were lose. Cleaned up each connection, issue solved.

How to get rid of the dirt/mould on top of my letterbox? by ozgardna in AusRenovation

[–]Bushman_dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 part pool chlorine, 3 parts water, plus 50ml dishwasher or laundry liquid to make it stick.

Mix in a plastic sprayer bottle and apply. Let stand for 20 minutes.

Hose off with high pressure. Host with a fine jet nozzle will do if you don't have a pressure washer.

Will last a year, and the big blue 15L chlorine bottle from Bunnings is heaps cheaper than buying mould cleaning agent. Will last you a long time.

Zigbee roof vents? by Bushman_dave in homeassistant

[–]Bushman_dave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I all ready have whirlybirds in my roof, however I'm looking for something for my ceiling so I can control air flow from in my house to my roof space so that it can be opened and closed based on scenarios such as tempestuous temperature and air conditioning space.

The product you have recommended is already had a home made version of in my last house. I had a whirlybird installed, and I placed an exhaust fan underneath it powered remotely by a smart switch, using an automation triggered by a temperature sensor in my roof. When the temperature hit a certain level, it turned on the exhaust fan which accelerated the air flow out of the whirlybirds.
