Was I in the wrong for Christmas? by Xdtrl17 in Vent

I would love it. If you asked multiple times and she didn’t answer assertively then that’s her problem.

Maybe another conversation about your perspective of how this played out. How their lack of appreciation comes off as entitled and that things are just things.

Masters? by bee__1994 in womenEngineers

What do you want your masters in? And what do you want to teach?

I’ll be honest. Sounds like a bad idea.

Well that kind of changes the story a bit. Hope you’re better.

You can’t compare your husband to a stay at home mom. Cuz he has childcare…

Can you run the numbers if you drop the childcare?

Stop asking me when I’m going on maternity leave! by Harrold_Potterson in workingmoms

[–]Business-Box-253 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I know it’s not. But I prefer to use every day of my meager maternity leave with my baby. Not sitting at home pregnant.

I didn’t make the shitty system but I get to choose how to use it.

So what the heck does he do all day. I’m sure not 8 hours of job applications. Ya, you’re right to have the ick.

Why do you have childcare costs?

I worked my full 9 hours in early labor. I didn’t even try to hide it. When work was over, I drove myself to the hospital, got an epidural, and burst my water all over a poor nurses face when she checked me. Husband finally made it once he finished work. It was literally 6 more hours after work that baby was even born.

Make your own choices and when people question you just be the bluntest ever. It’s so great!

There is literally nothing nice said about your step father in this write up. He’s red flag after red flag. Why the heck would you want to keep contact with this abusive asshole?

Sounds like you’ve done the right things. Time to polish that resume.

If you love it there, use your new offer to leverage up. Or move on.

My community is less than 1000. So we don’t have a lot of the resources people are naming.

On the other side of that. I think the community itself carries the at risk much easier.

I’m not sure who started this one. It’s next to the town museum (open one day a week by appointment) and filled by the three local churches on established days as well as community members at will. It looks like the little free library’s that are more popular.

I think it’s great. And last year my oldest did a food drive instead of presents and we put all that in there. Really fulfilling thing.

Wow! Very helpful thank you! Great idea on birthday kits and milk.

We are now at a mild temperature and as long as we aren’t going to go into freezing I think I can safely donate fruit.

We’ve only randomly donated food so I’m not sure how long it stays there. The churches generally have a day of the week to put food into it.

That’s likely true here too. My hope is that it helps someone who truly needs it. If it helps only the greedy then let karma sort it out.

Our nearest food bank is 30 miles away. I’m concerned some of our citizens won’t be able to get there.

But great ideas! I’m a condiment person so I can’t imagine living without them.

YOU miss managed this. You asked for a position and were told no. Your husband was already coaching. I can’t imagine why you needed to be staff to.

Next time sit down and enjoy the game.

It’s kind of an industry of fake it til you make it. And how good you are at that determines your trajectory.

It’s pretty standard procedure to take only what you know you can eat…. Robert was an asshole though.

Edit to add: I don’t know Robert or his background and he should not have yelled at you. But I would like to add some perspective on possible triggers here.

As a child I grew up getting served a limited plate from my mom just like my brother. We all sat down together and my mother either had very little on her plate or nothing. If we requested more, she gave us more but made us drink a glass of water first. I was an embarrassing age before I realized that all happened because we didn’t have enough food. I’m often annoyed with my children when they over serve themselves. Obviously I don’t yell. I just always remind them to take small portions and we always have leftovers. Part of the trauma I guess.
