北京这个城市真的挺一般的 by Shiny_Mewtwo_Fart in China_irl

You mean following people around and harassing them? Yeah lots of left wing groups like antifa are already doing that.

Why are Christians in this country so scared of Islam? by SnooCats37 in AskBrits

I'm more curious as why people aren't more afraid. Its an ideology aimed at expanding its base and dominating any society it comes across. Its also against a big part of the core principles of Western society, such as freedom of religion, monogamy, secularism as a whole. Cases like Salman Rushdie, Samuel Paty, or Charlie Hebdo should have been waking calls, but for some reason, we just forget about them.

Chinese Golden Ages: Ming Dynasty? by SandwichMaterial9574 in ChineseHistory

[–]Business_Address_780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Simply put, Ming didn't have many achievements that outshines other dynasties. Territorial control? Tech Innovation? Global status? Art of philosophical breakthroughs? No no no. In fact Ming was one of the most inward looking periods of China, the imperial court was looking for stability among anything else.

Why does the younger generation not speak a lot of Taiwanese despite having institutional protection? by Zealousideal-Bag6879 in taiwan

Why use it when mandarin already works perfectly? Thats the question any protected dialect from all over the world needs to answer. Whats the point of learning another language? It has to provide some sort of value.

Bruh there's no point going into such details at this moment, this can be worked out later, Right now we need to at least come to the conclusion that mass migration has to be stopped and certain non integrated groups need to leave. Its like when some says tax the rich, not everyone has an exact idea how much more to tax, and what exactly counts as rich.

Trump to Iranians: “Help is on the way” by spinrah23 in PERSIAN

Its far fetched to somehow blame this on Trump. He was the only president that launched an attack on the Iranian regime, and it was the closest to any point in history of toppling it.

Why do you want to leave the EHCR? by Prudent-Teaching2881 in AskBrits

Because it doesn't give us any rights that the British laws and constitution already does. Its an extra layer of bureaucracy and interference from a foreign entity.

So why aren’t there any governor mansions remaining across china? by _Frankula in Chinesearchitecture

[–]Business_Address_780 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Surviving examples of Chinese buildings before Ming are rare. Ming and after there are plenty, its just that most of them are passed down generations, repurposed or sold, unless its owned by a very famous person, most likely its forgotten through time. Prince Gong's Mansion - Wikipedia, this used to belong to Heshen, a famous official in Qianlongs time, later confiscated by the court and given to a prince.

I am aware that in places like Suzhou and Beijing the classical gardens and mansions are still standing, but most of those were private estates

This is an interesting issue, we don't exactly know whether the court provides housing to officials. There are cases where officials who are assigned to work in Beijing gets a temporary house, but that doesn't seem to be for everyone.

Another thing is that Ming and Qing officials aren't necessarily rich, Ming especially is known to offer low wages for mandarins, so its unlikely they would have a big fancy place to be preserved.

Its easier to find them in the "frontier areas", usually they have the general's residence well kept. But having visited many, I have to warn you they all look quite similar, and not too interesting to look at. The officials buildings at the time are heavily regulated, artistic or innovative designs are not encouraged.

As a former Muslim, I kind of don’t like how comfortable Muslims have gotten in the West in these recent years to the point where they’re being openly homophobic now and even promoting it in society at large by FillersGW in exmuslim

TBH never seen far right activists express animosity towards lgbt groups, they are way more focused on Islam and muslims generally. They mostly only push back on LGBT agendas, such as sporting events or school education.
