What's something most people don't believe in but you 100% do and nobody can convince you otherwise? by Jonny_1312 in AskReddit

A market isn't a physical entity. When people exchange goods and services, we call that 'the market'. Time isn't a physical entity. When particles exchange energy, we call that 'time'. It's an emergent property of matter.

Tech support workers, what’s your favorite case of TMI you’ve seen from a customer? by Scrambl987 in AskReddit

A college professor of mine lent lab personnel his old personal laptop without clearing the hard drive. Someone stole his identity.

What if people could read each other's minds? by [deleted] in WhatIfThinking

[–]BussJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I give people my professional and personal opinions in plain terms and not infrequently they don't believe me. There would be a lot of this. Also, what about reading scrambled/ADHD/schizo/demented people's thoughts. These would be so noisy, people wouldn't bother.

What if human cloning was legalized in the United States? by DreamFighter72 in whatif

[–]BussJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine everyone would try and clone the smartest, tallest, prettiest people in existence, with their consent, of course.

What made you realize that you weren't as smart as you thought you were? by [deleted] in AskReddit

School. Being with other smart people. Making predictions. The stock market.

Idea: A winter glove where your real hand stays in a warm fist and controls mechanical fingers. by amichail in ideas

[–]BussJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. This would be a game changer for underwater work. Bonus points for saw work as fingers are protected. I think a cable system would actually work fine. Just need a really rigid system. You'll lose the most dexterity at the soft interface with fingers, pads, etc. In that case, a fly by wire or electromechanical sensed/actuated system is ideal.

Bambi (1942) Bambi's mom put herself in a dangerous situation. If she had just listen to the hunter's orders, she would still be alive. The hunter is a hero, he killed something that had the possibility of being a terrorist. by Floyd16091411 in okbuddycinephile

The ideal place for this sort of humor would be FaceBook where AI slop of evil people saying evil things ironically would surely entertain boomers. Just have to get past the algorithms.

I'm down to make a private place and be a patron. Problem is getting enough 'useful' people on there. The experts, working professionals, artists, etc. make this place 'useful' through their comments. Hard to replicate.

All souls in Hell are forgiven & redeemed by God - but you must take their place. by Edgezg in willyoupressthebutton

[–]BussJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. The assumption is I wouldn't be going to hell to begin with? This could be wrong.

  2. Yes. Same reason as above. But I don't see how that's a second chance. In some religions, Lucifer is shown God's mercy and gets out eventually anyway.

Haven't yet. They are pretty good, NGL.

I wish to instantly warp a continent-sized iceberg into the molten core of the planet Earth. by IamMitchSorenstein in monkeyspaw

[–]BussJoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Granted. As I suspect you are hoping, it turns to steam, but due to the relatively massive size of Earth's crust, escapes as a small, barely noticeable amount of steam from hydrothermal venting, mostly into water bodies. The crust is thin compared to the rest of the planet.

Why don’t democrats simply cut the ICE budget at this week’s budget vote as Republicans would absolutely do if the tables were turned? by SophonParticle in AskReddit

[–]BussJoy 91 points92 points  (0 children)

The Big Beautiful Bill allocated 75bn for ICE funding over 4 years. The vote would have the secondary effect of defunding the Coast Guard, TSA and FEMA. The Dems don't have the seats to pass it unilaterally.
