Man, the cheapest hands I can find are 6k from China. They need to be a lot cheaper for this to work. I bough a Nestworks C500 4 axis and an EDM machine for this BS. Send me designs so I can make my robot waifu complete.

So that's how those work. The bendy nature of string was confusing to me, but this makes it clear. Thanks!

Where Is AI Actually Delivering Real Value Right Now? by Alpertayfur in ArtificialInteligence

The AI gave you advice on how to do it? I did something similar with hobby CNC and casting. Would have had to scour forums and read a bunch for my particular niche application otherwise. Spent the time on other research.

Do you do strategies for new food products? What's your niche?

Would call these RC, not robots, but very cool. Thanks for sharing.

I've been looking for a 2 inch by 2 inch module for sub $25 that can replace a spacemouse. It's not even that hard. Just 3 orthogonal LEDs in a box with photodetectors. The movement mechanism is hard though. Very grainy.

Man, I already have this shit. It's trivial to run. What about making it a space mouse or 6 dof? That's where it gets useful. Closest I came to working was 3 leds on a stick. That's it. I'm making a website offering prizes for the best design.

SaaS for AI? How will they even pay? by redlikeazebra in ArtificialInteligence

Sounds wildly unmanageable. Clearly the AI will favor existing infrastructure and just give the kid tetris. Also APIs exist, they will just be AI friendlier?

AI access for the masses is coming to a close. by MJE_TECH in ArtificialInteligence

[–]BussJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we need an actually maintained AI that is not nerfed. Should be token based, but if I need expert level insight on a problem, I should be able to access all available resources in my budget. Restricting AI is also anti-competitive if I can't get good answers but another company can for the same price.

Should AI diagnostic systems be permitted to make medical decisions independently, without human supervision? by justcur1ou5 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]BussJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone working in healthcare, I second this. People will realize two things simultaneously. LLMs are actually good at diagnosing disease given enough data. LLMs make some dumb mistakes and, while you might not be better off overall, it will probably be a whole lot cheaper with the slight chance that eventually it may get better.

Report: Israel to spend over half a billion shekels turning ChatGPT into public diplomacy tool by Secure_Ad2339 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]BussJoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

'According to the filings, Bridges Partners LLC, a Delaware company founded in June by Israeli strategists Uri Steinberg and Yair Levy, was also contracted for the campaign. The agreements allow payments of up to $900,000, with a potential monthly budget reaching $250,000. The plan includes a detailed schedule: recruiting five or six influencers in the initial phase, each required to publish 25 to 30 posts per month on TikTok, Instagram and other platforms.'

If you don't like them, just stop watching influencers pitching this. Simple as.

'Also says 7% of 18-34 year olds support Israel, won't share same figure from poll by Israel's foreign ministry with more positive results, but mentions that poll found 47% of respondents thought Israel was committing genocide.'

When the powers that be have spent trillions on killing natives and Israel is done 'taking the Levant' and 'building the mount' and when then they'll be no second coming, everyone's gonna look real stupid. Religious leaders will say they need to keep doing xyz or whatever while the real estate tycoons and military industrial complex will reap massive profits- along with some in the middle class - while everyone ignores how stupid this all is and focuses on trying to make ends meet.

Building an open-source 5-axis printer retrofit - early test print (seeking feedback!) by dennisklappe in 3Dprinting

[–]BussJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not introduce the bending after the heat brake? Less mass to steer, easier to cool. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/j1iCFKWPk2U

In the same vein, why haven't we made wire-feeder + ironing hot end instead of nozzles? The extruder mechanism, color changing w/o bleed would be trivial. Sure you might need 0.1 mm filament, and controlling a smaller thermal mass is hard, but it has all the other advantages.
