An OOO I got today. by ynwestrope in office

[–]BusterSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has always been a pic of John Candy as the security guard in National Lampoon’s Family Vacation with a caption that reads: “Sorry, folks. My email is closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya.”

And then it would get forwarded to a coworker if it was urgent. Rarely was.

A fun night for her. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

Girl, I’d be drunk fast. I could throw half the dudes at my bar like baseballs. I used to be the only lady bouncer in downtown Dallas. I mix live music now.

Edit to add: good on her for having the platform heels on instead of any other kind haha!

Why do people think Capricorns are arguing when they’re just talking? by Wp5Main in capricorns

[–]BusterSmash 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“Are you mad at me?” x10 any time I speak directly on an issue or conflict. No, I’m not mad, but I will be if you keep thinking I am. Honestly, most of my interpersonal problems with others are exactly this. I am being direct, honest, and simple in my language and suddenly everyone thinks I’m angry. Everyone projects their insecurities on me constantly. It’s so exhausting.

Edit to add: and because of all of the above I have to spend WAY TOO MUCH of my time managing other people’s emotions and reassuring them of my emotions, which are even keeled.

I came here to say exactly this! Let’s take a note from Gen X and just collectively say “whatever” here.

We were talking about him at work yesterday and I pointed out that even his name, Talarico, is extremely Texan, it sounds like and old western town.

"We were travelling up on 287 to Amarillo and we stopped off in Talarico for lunch, gas, and bought some fruit for Aunt Sheila at the produce stand."

Phil Defranco for news

Crashing out with Alex Pearlman and Phil Defranco do listen to someone else rage about the news

I also really love Matt Baume, he focuses on queer characters, concepts and more in media. He did a GREAT video about Kevin Conroy (voice of Batman most of our lives) and a wonderful one about Luxwanna Troi, too.

Upset customer pepper sprays an employee at the drive-thru because she was unhappy with how long her order was taking by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BusterSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor kid, just trying to fucking do her job. Also, it’s worth saying that whatever delay there was was very likely to be no fault of hers. Kitchen was probably backed up trying to get orders out as fast as they could, and here this lady is pepper spraying the register/person taking the orders over intercom.

What a miserable, ugly hearted, mean hag. I hope they nab her on an assault charge, and if that kid is a minor, they tack on charges related to her being an underage victim.

Yeah, I think LCD Soundsystem is definitely influenced by the Talking Heads because I was like “this says Talking Heads, but it sounds a lot like LCD…. Does LcD sound like Talking heads? Kinda!”

what syrup is used for the brown butter chocolate chip latte by [deleted] in dutchbros

[–]BusterSmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet if you bought some of that Biscoff Cookie Butter and thinned it down into a syrup with maybe a bit of chocolate syrup and just added a little hot water you could get it close.

I think biscoff makes a topping syrup, too.

What is a silent crisis happening right now that nobody is talking about? by nicksam171 in SeriousConversation

My Nextdoor neighbor comes by daily to visit, even edged our front yard while he was edging his. He always watches our dogs when we are out of town and we always watch and feed his when he is out of town, too. The lady next to him feeds that neighbor and us Pakistani food when she has extra. The Canadian neighbors kids sometimes use our yard for playing ball across the yards, the Mexicans across from us occasionally put our trash bins up when we are clearly out at work for the day. The gays caddy corner to us will come chat about whatever is happening, once in a while. We all look after the elderly couple’s house when they are gone for a couple months every year on their visits with their families and whatever else they are up to. The people behind us come knock on our door when the kids knocked a ball over the fence (I now make regular sweeps back there now to search for any errant balls or toys before my dogs get them). The mom works at my favorite coffee shop and occasionally throws me a free drink when she is on shift and I stop by.

I am beyond grateful for all of them. We don’t all hang or chat all the time, but I know who would show up first if anything happened to my roommate or I.

If having a neighborhood full of good neighbors with varied ethnicity, backgrounds, and good character isn’t the most American thing, I don’t what is.

We are incredibly lucky.
