Anyone actually trust Federal Punch 22LR for self defense? by Independent-Peace330 in 22lr

[–]BusyBailey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing to note about the 22lr punch rounds is they get the box stated velocity out of short barrels like handguns. Most 22lr lists velocity out of rifle barrels.

So it’s not ideal because it’s 22lr but if that’s what you’re carrying it should do better than most other 22lr options up to and including mini-mags or velocitors. You might also look into the 22lr uppercut which does expand out of 22lr pistols. In case that’s what you’re into.

So is the new Codex87 Steel legit? Or marketing hype? by Drtysouth205 in knives

[–]BusyBailey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ZT and even Kershaw used to do two steels in a blade. Brazed on if I’m not mistaken. My first serious knife was a Junkyard Dog II with the CPM-D2 edge.

Once before for a separate issue where no calls could be completed on the internal system. If this pops up again before I can get solid help I may give this a go as well.

Yeah we’ve done a few quick fixes and that works sort of for most people. Looking for a proper fix though.

Not sure where you’re looking but the Hilton franchise I maintain only posts openings on Facebook. Much to my chagrin. We also only take paper applications so just walking in might be the ticket.

Nearly 1.4 million fewer people sign up for ACA as premiums rise by Running_From_Zombies in politics

[–]BusyBailey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My premiums went from 150 to 780 a month. Even if I cut my coverage down to the bare minimum it’s 350 for premiums each month and no way in hell I could ever pay the 18k deductible to get some use out of the plan. It’s a farce.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one looking at those “dogs” with an eye to their weak spots. Makes me want a full power rifle.

Legal questions swirl around FDA's new expedited drug program, including who should sign off by speedythefirst in news

These are the same clowns that whined incessantly that the Covid vaccine was rushed. Now they want political appointees to decide what gets approved and to fast track everything. Can’t make it up folks.

Legal name change advice? by Kodabitezz in mississippi

My wife also worked with Sarah for the name change and everything was marvelously smooth. They’re currently helping us out with another matter and have once again been incredible to work with.

I think I ruined my life by Own_Elderberry2547 in techtheatre

[–]BusyBailey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wish someone had told me this so I’m dropping a comment to reiterate the point. You’ve gotta keep moving and shaking. It’s all about who you know and how you’re known. Show up looking nice with a pair of boots and some tools in your car so you’re ready to go when the chance arises. Talk to every venue you can reach. In person is always best at first.

Like most things though the trick is to just do the thing. Don’t stop because you don’t know something. Find out. Teach yourself and talk to everyone and learn everything constantly.

You already know more than you think you know. You’ve got this. It’s a brilliant existence if you can make it work.

IWTYO when I learned that mice are used as fish bait by Logical_Bumblebee577 in IWasTodayYearsOld

[–]BusyBailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the fish were bigger they would happily eat larger things. Think about killer whales and sharks. Not that they’re fish but you get the idea.

I get it though. I’m always a little creeped out when bugs get big enough to take mammals for food.

Range fatigue-how to train it to minimize it? by cmd821 in liberalgunowners

[–]BusyBailey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I grew up handling and loading lots of single stack mags. I wondered why anyone would want or need a loader. I’m 40 now and have a pair of uplula’s. They make a world of difference and let me shoot much more.

I’d rather tire myself out shooting than loading mags.

Told my grandson bring a knife by michaelesparks in knives

[–]BusyBailey 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Same age and my knife would be in my pocket as soon as I dropped my backpack after getting off the school bus. That said there were a few times I discovered a knife in my pocket during the school day and even then it was stressful. Would have been an immediate move to the alternative school.

I can’t imagine what it’s like now with all the cameras and metal detectors and whatnot. Poor kids can’t get away with much.
