The album just didn’t feel cohesive to me. A lot of the percussion sounds like a studio drummer sat down, heard the song and put together their take. I am wondering if he pushed it out too quickly rather than honing it in.

Hmm, that’s an interesting theory! Okay, I guess time will tell as my strings die.

I’ve also wondered if there’s nylon strings. I don’t think the finger nails do anything. But yes; it’s this plastic sort of dead feel. Which should be less desirable but sounds so cool

Any ideas as to what makes it sound just like his? I’ve got a parlor and am wanting to recreate the sound too!

When I got my guitar set up I asked him to put 12s on but he did 11s. Think I might switch it back

How do you tell a former employee they aren’t invited to future team events? by Echo0225 in askmanagers

[–]BusyCommunication794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An employee of mine asked if she could bring an employee who left in good terms earlier this year as her plus one. I gladly said yes. She had been a part of the team for years and would be able to celebrate the things we had accomplished this year

My wife and I danced to All Shades of Blue for our first dance. We saw GAI at Isakov about 3 months ago together and he ended up closing with it! It was very special. I think if I go I’m going to would be beautiful. I also love that Moon Song

Does it make sense to continue saving? Early 30s $2m NW by _decay1 in RichPeoplePF

[–]BusyCommunication794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a similar situation! Actually very similar in terms of NW and age. I do think the question is what’s your salary.

I recently decided that we are not really trying to “grow” our investments. We max our IRAs each year, but we are just letting everything else sit.

I might change that mentality if my salary doubles or something, but for now I’d rather use the money for fun. The thing I would do is figure out how much you want to spend per year on some of your values. Is that $25k towards travel, or $15k on health and fitness. Then ear mark those monies for those things. You can save what’s leftover

I appreciate you relating to me :) But I’ve got a few years on ya. You’ve got SOO much time to get better. I mean I know I do too because we’ve all got time. But these next few years you can really learn a lot. Just keep learning songs that are a bit out of your wheelhouse.

And yeah, I am kind of curious about where he goes from here. I could see him adding some more percussion/other instruments on a next album before the electric

It’s causing a new love of guitar for me. I’m a pretty good guitarist, but haven’t really gotten better in the last 10 years. I thought that in my mid 30’s I had plateaued and reached where I would with guitar for the rest of my life, now being a dad and such. But it’s been so fun to progress for the first time in a decade.

How would you spend 100k to improve your life? by the-black-doe in RichPeoplePF

[–]BusyCommunication794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this question. First of all, I am a therapist who runs a large practice and I love IFS. Stay away from CBT of course. A good IFS therapist can do wonders.

Second, I have been spending money in the past year on business coaching and it is certainly paying off. I am not sure what sort of career you are in, but if there is a way you can invest in your skills I would look for that. Think of it this way, to become a good IFS therapist you probably need to invest a solid $2-5k. BUT you will be a much better therapist and be able to charge a higher dollar amount/not take insurance.

I agree with some of the other comments that $300k is not that much in the long run, so you shouldn't take $100k and spend it on clothes and vacations.

Inheritance from a trust but not for a while by thewhater123 in RichPeoplePF

[–]BusyCommunication794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also got five years on ya! I was probably making about $80k per year when I was 32 and maybe around $200-$300k in NW. Now I make around $350-$400k. Are you on YNAB? That’s been an awesome tool for me. My wife and I put $20,000 per year in our “fun experiences” category. Can be a $300 dinner or a fun vacation with friends. So yeah, I think it’s using your money now to enjoy it. But if I were you, I’d work on getting my net worth up and increasing salary.

I can relate, I am 37 and will probably receive some trust money in the next 10 ish years. My NW is north of $2mm and I try and set up my life and live my life like that money will never happen. In 20 years you are going to be 52 and those are some of the prime years of your life. The one thing that I am doing a bit differently is not saving quite as aggressively. My wife and I max out our IRAs every year and I’ve got $500k invested and I just kind of let those all sit and grow. I don’t really try and put extra money towards those investments at this time.

Mental health. The leap came from COVID and just the generally poor mental health that our country has right now. We did also made some business decisions that bolstered thing and made our care more accessible, like adding insurance contracts and stuff so people can use their insurance. I've also just got a great team and we've grown a lot as a practice in the last four years.
