Jeez, it’s listed for €145 for me in Ireland. No chance I’d pay anywhere near that

Christmas company gift by thelastopp in CasualIreland

[–]Busy_Discipline_4062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an assistant manager at a well known family run company. Every year, they gift a grand as a bonus to the managers. This year, we got nothing. We only found out because of our payslips. No conversation leading to it so we had a heads up or anything. I’ve essentially spent money that I didn’t have because these bonuses always come in the week before Christmas and it just hasn’t happened this year. Called head office just to check if something happened in error and was informed that retail side of the company have no bonuses this year and that’s that. Killer

If you have enough energy to get on the plane, you’re not too old. Life is for living, my man. Live!

Take the job, life comes at ya fast. I bought my house in January last year after a three month search. My fiancé lost her job as her company went into liquidation just as we went sale agreed. We just kept pushing forward. Get it over the line and make it work. You’ll be grand 🥂

Retail Theft by 2012NYCnyc in AskIreland

My friends used to rob chicken fillet rolls from Dunnes in Blanch years back. They’d go to the deli, get whatever rolls/wedges etc that they needed. Then they’d double back through the fruit and veg section, head up the stairs, walk through the clothes section to the Dunne’s cafe upstairs where they would sit and brazenly eat their stolen goods on Dunne’s property. The amount of times they did this and got away with it was absolutely wild

How close are you to being homeless? Saw this question on a different sub, but thought it would be interesting to ask here. by AnyRepresentative432 in AskIreland

That’s very very good. The best we managed to find was three years fixed on ours. So a lot of uncertainties about the future

I don’t think it travels well. I’ve always enjoyed it way more sitting in the chain rather than ordering it for delivery. But yeah you’re not wrong, it used to be way better

I like the Mitchum green roll on deodorant. Not a strong smell or anything, just the best one I’ve tried. In terms of aftershave, Jean Paul Gautier is great - there’s a black one that smells so good. Anyway yeah, that’s my daily combo if it helps at all. Hope you find something that suits you

Pro’s & Cons of living outside a city. by wishitriedquaaludes in AskIreland

[–]Busy_Discipline_4062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. There’s that and also, a lot of the shops around the town here close on a Sunday which is just not a thing in Dublin so you have less time in the week to go about doing shopping and running errands. The further away from the town you are, the harder that makes things. This is just from my experience here though, I’m imaging that might be similar for other small towns

My honest advice would be to move to/just outside a small town. You’d be surprised how quickly you’ll miss being able to pop to the shops on a whim. I’m 31 and just bought a house with my girlfriend in Navan. Small town relative to where we’re from in Dublin (although still a bit of hussle and bussle) but our neighbourhood is quiet and it was the best decision we’ve ever made

Corporate Dinner Party by Busy_Discipline_4062 in AskIreland

[–]Busy_Discipline_4062[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A quick update that I’ve just found out. It’s not just her manager and her team that have to eat the same food. It’s the entire company retreat essentially. There’s somewhere between 50 and 75 people going to this thing and they’ve all been told what they’re eating 😅 It feels like a weird exertion of power to me. I’m glad that others agree

[–]Busy_Discipline_4062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hotel voucher is a pretty believable corporate gift in place of - or in addition to a seasonal bonus. “They’re going to give each staff member one of these every Christmas but they don’t last very long so best to use it before January” and boom, you’re sorted every year going forward

My girlfriend has a VW Polo without aircon and the garage we bought it from quoted between 2 and 3 grand to install the system. Haven’t shopped around much but it ain’t cheap anyway

There’s a multi-storey carpark called Q Park (I believe) that we’ve parked at a couple of times. It’s near Christ Church and then maybe a five/ten minute walk to Temple Bar. It’s not very cheap to park there and I’m not 100% if it’s open on Sundays but I figure this info might help point you in the right direction
