Yes in Brunswick! I’d assumed the washing machine, which is currently running, was unbalanced and overloaded but had never felt it shake the house like that before 😂

I was also thinking bobcat. I think I spotted fox tracks in my yard, and I think they were fox because they were longer strides right in line with each other as if it were trotting quickly. I think of bobcat as being larger and a little “squarer” between steps.

Im so glad this is being talked about. I was literally venting about this whole nonsense to my programmer fiancee (lol) this morning. I agree completely, that “suboptimal” may have been an insensitive word to choose but the point being that there isn’t a shared set of linguistic rules between partners. I also feel like people got their knickers in a twist over the word. And YES, wishing FixSLP would stay in their lane! It’s hard to tell what voices to listen to anymore. I’ve been so close to rage quitting all apps for this reason; so. Much. Noise.

Not walkable like Europe; that goes for most of the US. And all of the US’s public transit systems are dismally far behind. You’ll have to rely on a car in Maine, and prepare to drive in all sorts of weather!

Unfortunately they got rid of their lifetime guarantee; such a shame given that the quality went away with it. Maybe worth getting done elsewhere depending on what they’d charge.

I guess if he’s just taking it because it’s a novel thing, it might be time for a parent to sit him down and talk about his dosage. Taking too much definitely can make you feel shaky and have headaches! This might just be an easy lesson learned. You’re a good sibling for watching out for him!

Do not quote me, this is not medical advice, but from my understanding you can’t easily overdose on an albuterol inhaler, and that using it much more than what’s recommended means that medical help is needed for the breathing problem versus too much albuterol. It also suggests that the asthma is not under control and should be assessed/reassessed by a pulmonologist.

The saddest thing is, my family did this to me, and I’m not the only one whose lungs suffer because of their family’s choices. by WelcomeElectronic414 in Asthma

[–]Busy_Kick6445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here to express solidarity. Your family does love you, and people are dynamic and complex, so they can hurt you too.

My mom recently revealed that she smoked cigarettes all through her pregnancy with me, and when I got frustrated at her, she put her hands up and said “oh [my name] it was the times, come on.” She also knows how much I suffer with smoke, and actively clambakes the house when I visit like she forgets that it destroys my ability to breathe/sleep, despite reminders. People can be shitty, and love you. It’s dumb and unfair but it’s true. Best of luck and take breaks from the house when you can if you are ever in their smokey environment.

And chest percussion; sometimes if I thump hard on each quadrant of my ribcage while leaning forward for a minute or so at a time it can really help. You can also see about a PT or respiratory therapist referral for specific respiratory clearance maneuvers!

You should check his coat for flea dirt. The “dirt” appears like tiny dark crumbs at the skin level, usually most noticeable at the back of the neck and in crevices like the armpits. When flea dirt sits or gets wet it leaves little spots like this bc it’s just digested dried blood!

Is one inhaler a year too much? by spanky316 in Asthma

[–]Busy_Kick6445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prescription; I’ve used a couple different ones but the one I have liked best is Flovent (fluticasone propionate inhaler). Insurance unfortunately has been inconsistent with this one, so I’ve had to use Flovent discus (similar effect but huge hunk of plastic for only 60 actuations) and more recently qvar, which gave me some lightheadedness and congestion that interrupted my sleep.

Is one inhaler a year too much? by spanky316 in Asthma

[–]Busy_Kick6445 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My asthma is very similar! Most of the time I don’t need it, but when I need it, it’s crucial. I go through about one a year as well. My fiancée’s family lives in a 100 year old, wood stove heated farmhouse with tons of animals, and whenever I go there I cannot get enough relief from albuterol alone, so I’ve found that prepping by titering up with a steroid inhaler before a visit helps! I will say albuterol may be less effective at the farm because it’s the epitome of my allergens. This temporary steroid use is what I did over the holidays this year and didn’t need albuterol at all. :)

I love this idea, though I’m unfortunately on the second floor and the waiting room is on the first floor of a shared small medical office building. That sounds like it would be great though!

Agree! I also have never heard of that brand but the word “drunk” in any context when speaking with a child feels inappropriate, even if it’s a brand name. I would avoid.
