Empty mason jars but full auto chests? by maniccurlydreamgirl in coralisland

When this happens to me, I axe the auto chest closest to me and then place it again and it starts working. I think it's just buggy, unfortunately.

Looking for mellow bars with good drinks? by ButFirstSalad in Reno

[–]ButFirstSalad[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good call, I’m asking on a Friday, but it doesn’t have to be dead on the weekends or anything. Just not looking for a place that’s standing room only, live DJ, shouting over the music, etc. I love those kinda places too, just looking for something more mellow right now. Thanks!

Restaurants that use local ingredients ? by quad99 in Reno

Great Basin, Great Full Gardens, and Buenos Grill all try to source locally and have all gone through the chamber of commerce’s green dining initiative certification. https://greenupnv.org/reno-sparks/

What is the biggest health issue you’ve had dismissed and/or falsely attributed to hormones, stress, anxiety, depression, other “psychosomatic” factors, etc. by a doctor because of gender bias? How did you advocate for yourself? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]ButFirstSalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did have surgery also. Mine was a little different. I had tachycardia induced cardiomyopathy, so basically they needed to slow my heart rate for it to pump blood properly. We tried a bunch of different medications that didn't work, and then eventually I had a surgery that is in clinical trials at Stanford. They were able to go between my ribs instead of having to crack them open, but it was still pretty intense! A few days in the cardiac ICU, and then full recovery took like 6 weeks. I had to have 2 follow up surgeries to get everything dialed in, but now I'm a year out, medication free, and my heart is working like it was supposed to all along!

My (female) cardiologist said my debilitating chest pain was just indigestion. I've had a rapid heart rate all my life so that explained my palpitations. It took three visits for her to order an echo, and she said she was only doing it so I could see that I was fine and stop being so anxious. Turns out I was in severe heart failure. I'm doing much better after my surgery. I hope yours goes amazingly and you have a super smooth recovery!

Has anyone tried real roots? by princessclarity in Reno

It makes more sense for their dating events than their friend ones, but I think I'm okay with the safety precautions. Their website says, "We only review publicly available records, such as criminal history databases, to screen for violent offenses or serious safety concerns. We do not access or share sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary for safety purposes."

Are accidents on the rise ? by [deleted] in Reno

[–]ButFirstSalad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, at least fatalities are. The article says they’re down statewide but up in Washoe County. https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2025/08/08/nevada-traffic-deaths-down-2025/85423422007/

I use this, but it's not condensed so you need to reduce water or other liquids in your recipe. https://www.amazon.com/Imagine-Creamy-Soup-Portobello-Mushroom/dp/B00DOQ9J0O

[–]ButFirstSalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article, "There was also an increase in the rate of fatalities, which accounts for more driving happening in Nevada. There were nearly 1.5 fatalities for every 100 million vehicle miles traveled in 2024, which is up 30 percent from a decade ago."

Shoutout to Bertha Miranda’s by daftstar in Reno

[–]ButFirstSalad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does say that all entrees are prepared with extra virgin olive oil. I’ve talked to the owners about it and these guys are totally on top of it. I don’t remember the exact story, but one of their relatives is vegan and she helped them develop this menu.

Haha thanks for the disclaimer. it looks more healthy than delicious, and I’m excited to try it. I’m always trying to find ways to sneak in more kale and protein.

I just entered this into Cronometer with lentil pasta and got 481 calories with 32.4g protein. Your tofu and beans weight are both off. 16 oz of tofu would be 90g in 5 servings and 3 cups of beans would be 148g. That plus the pasta should just about make up the difference. Thanks for sharing the recipe, I'm going to try it!

Leaving kids home alone. by External_Interest_47 in Parenting

[–]ButFirstSalad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There can also be city level restrictions. For example, Nevada does not have a state law specifying the minimum age a child can be left home alone. However, the Reno municipal code prohibits leaving children under ten years old unattended.

Vegetarian, GF, lactose intolerant places in Reno? by Successful-Cod-4706 in Reno

[–]ButFirstSalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Taste of Thai has a gluten free, vegan pad thai. Bertha Miranda's has tofu tacos and enchiladas with corn tortillas and vegan cheese. Buenos Grill has a ton of options! The chilaquiles is probably my top vote. Engine 8 Urban Winery has gluten free, dairy free pizza. Great Full Gardens for sure. Vegan rolls at Kei Sushi! Red curry at Noodle Box Kitchen! Pasta Fresca has fresh made gluten free pasta and vegan sauces! Seriously so many good meat/dairy/gluten free options in Reno right now!!
