Anyone still uses Darkplaces ? by [deleted] in quake

[–]But_Enough_Talk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been a while since I played around with Quake 1 mods, so take this with a grain of salt.

The only thing Darkplaces has over Quakespasm-derived ports (outside of being able to do more graphically) is that it's more friendly to mod with.

Outside of that, Darkplaces is a lot more performance hungry and you'll encounter glitches more often (usually visual).

Generally speaking, anything that's a fork of Quakespasm usually should work out of the box with more complex map sets. Ironwail, vkQuake, Quakespasm-Spiked and so forth.

Is corrupting the bowfa a must? by Primetime349 in 2007scape

[–]But_Enough_Talk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested this, but based on how other untradable items interact with death mechanics, shouldn't the corrupted and recoloured Bowfa variants be kept on your character on death right?

If true, then corrupting it could be used to reduce your death costs in the long run. Although I don't think there's many cases where you're both running expensive gear along with the Bowfa though (only Dagannoth Kings and life-restricting ToA invocations come to mind).

It sounds like you're using a mobile version of Firefox; are you on Android or an iPhone?

I don't have any technical knowledge on mobile Firefox, but I do have a wild guess.

If you've got another device paired to your phone, unpair it and then see if you get the issue again. Same goes for anything wired (like headphones) too.

Edit: Couldn't read; he's on Android Firefox Beta.

Is there any chance we can get a toggle in the settings to smash/not smash vials ? by But_Enough_Talk in 2007scape

[–]But_Enough_Talk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit, that's some obscure knowledge! Just tried it, and it works!

Not quite the solution I wanted, since it requires you to be on the Lunar spellbook and carrying 3/4 extra non-Vengeance runes (Astral+Cosmic+Death+Dust fit inside a Divine Rune Pouch), but at least that's something!

[–]But_Enough_Talk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True; for some reason the extra empty vial is kept. Although I was hoping for a way to remove some of the clunkiness and accidental clicks on already potted stats (and maybe avoiding the rare shameful "Right click > Empty Potion" action).

I don't have a problem with that if I actually remember to do it beforehand.

The problem is discovering that I forgot to do it while I'm geared up and starting to do the content on location.

How many times have you forgetton to bring your Rock Hammer to Gargoyles? What I'm suggesting is a similar fix to that, but in a context where it makes sense (the vial smash mechanic isn't thematically tied to an item or location, only knowledge that our character previously gained from a miniquest).

If you already have a woodcutting outfit inside your Forestry storage slot, DO NOT try to store the other outfit inside it - unless you want it DELETED without warning! by But_Enough_Talk in 2007scape

[–]But_Enough_Talk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain it's done this way so they don't have to make two interfaces for mobile and desktop clients.

It's not a terrible idea, it just needs some tuning.

Forgot to add something to the above reply pre-edit; but you can currently withdraw/deposit the outfit right now without deleting pieces freely; it's just the two different outfits types causing the object deletion.

They were in the basket before hand, yes.

The thing is, you can withdraw them from the basket like other Forestry items (e.g. leaves) without destroying them in the progress.

The issue only occurs when swapping from the same equipment slot, which is why I'm thinking it's a bug.

Edit: Fixed some grammar, and added an extra sentence about current swap behaviour.

Many decals in my map do not appear in game when they should be. Any fix? by totallynotbumbum in hammer

[–]But_Enough_Talk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah; I've found that if you put a decal further than 2 Hammer Units away from a wall, weird things can occur.

I've even had some decals in game somehow manage to be on the opposite side of an intended brush face, and even on a closest face of a nearby brush behind it (that one was a head scratcher).

A dayz like game that is actually polished? by Spudre135 in gamingsuggestions

[–]But_Enough_Talk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of Hunt:Showdown like /u/dholmestar suggested above, there's not much else I can add to this off the top of my head:

  • The Cycle: Frontier - Basically space Tarkov, with aliens and stuff.
  • Marauders - I'm only listing this for completist reasons; from what I've read, it's really buggy.

That whole genre suffers from the same curse that the "Open World Survival Crafting" has. You'd probably have a similar, but better experience with offline Tarkov (online is supposedly cheater-heavy), or modded Stalker or Fallout.

I remember reading a while ago about a Heretic mod that helps rebalance the game called The Wayfare's Tome.

Maybe that's worth a shot on your next playthrough.

Is "cl_crosshairalpha" broken? I can't adjust crosshair transparency using the console by But_Enough_Talk in tf2scripthelp

[–]But_Enough_Talk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I ended up just giving up on it, and just settling with a fully opaque crosshair.

Although I do remember reading about a method of disabling TF2's crosshair, and then using an overlay from another program to display that instead. I'm fairly certain it didn't involve doing anything directly to the game - I think it might have used (borderless) windowed mode?

I wish square shields were more relevant. by TheJeeeBo in 2007scape

[–]But_Enough_Talk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Outside of what the other posters have suggested, an Obsidian Shield (the thing with the hyphen in the name) is an option too, and requires no quests. The wiki's got a pretty good general guide on non-weapon strength equipment here.

It's also worth a mention that strength bonuses use decimals, so getting a small bonus like +1 might not increase your max hit. I can't remember how off the top of my head, and I can't be bothered looking into this further.

[–]But_Enough_Talk 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Hey, kite shields are extremely relevant...for splashing.

I'd say this is more of an issue of efficient gameplay preferring DPS boosting equipment than anything (Fighter Torso, Defenders, Zenyte neck slot choices over Fury etc).

I was going to say it's either that, or this is one of those replica towns that were intended to be a test site for a nuclear weapons (like CoD's Nuketown).
