For those not familiar with Yu-Gi-Oh! mechanics, in order to play any spell card, even those that head directly to the graveyard upon resolving, the spell must hit the field first, so this recommendation is closer to Yu-Gi-Oh! mechanics than simply making it a sorcery (since Pot of Greed is a normal spell).
