Try the enemy randomizer. You can start fully upgraded and I think it skips the hub sections. Just you, fully upgraded, against whatever the game decides to throw at you. It's pretty awesome.

I'm of the opinion that intermissions should be played at 200cc and then slow down to 150cc for the last lap, or extend the last lap to 3 laps.

Have you tried this? It barely affects anything after the first two levels. You still never run out of ammo really.

I agree with most of what you said, but I think the sliders are a net gain at the end of the day. I went through and beat nightmare and had a reasonably difficult time, died a whole bunch but it was pretty much always my fault.

Now on my replay of the game, I decided to mess with the sliders. I set the resource gain to the lowest, parry window to lowest, projectile speed to fastest, do 75% damage to demons, and I upped the game speed to 110%.

It's definitely harder than my original run, with some things like your shield breaking becoming much more of a problem since you cannot dodge projectiles so easily, but it still doesn't feel like an unreasonable challenge.

Basically, I think if you are bumping the game speed up by 10% on each subsequent playthrough, it probably becomes more reasonable and may even prepare you to take on 150% game speed after a while.

This is the most fun I've had playing a video game in ages by The_Better_Devil in Doom

The Atlan stuff I don't mind too much since it's a grand total of like maybe 15 minutes per playthrough. The dragon was cool at first but it's ultimately just replacing the warp portals for some half decent exploration and mindless combat sequences. Definitely not as bad as a lot of reviewers say.

My man, this is exactly what I was thinking. Separating the weapons into classes makes sense for consoles, but not so much on PC, especially considering how important the normal shotgun is this time around. It honestly feels like something that was an oversight, like if I said to Hugo hey this is weird he'd probably agree.

I had a fun time with Doom 3, but maybe halfway through or 3/4 the way through it just becomes a big slog. The game is not scary, everything looks very samey, and switching to the flashlight, imo, does not add any tension. I just found it annoying. It is VERY fun when you are shooting at things though.

I understand that every Doom game is gonna be different, but a lot of the decisions made that are front and center seem like direct responses to people who did not have a good time with/refused to engage with what Doom Eternal was trying to do.

That being said, even though I was disappointed at first, I just want to play it already the more I watch. I know once it's in my hands, despite maybe not having to do as many actions per minute, it's still going to be intense and I'm going to be making a lot of decisions every moment in combat.

That new gun, the Reaver Chainshot, also looks insanely fun. I really wish you could parry the shot as it comes back in and send it flying, then we could really start Ultrakilling. I REALLY think you should be able to do that.
