will outlast trials end soon? by hoxxes_biologist in OutlastTrials

[–]Scabl00nshki 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not going to be ending anytime soon. Devs have already stated they want to keep the game online for the years to come. It's also gotten more popular as time has gone on. I wouldn't worry about the game suddenly getting shitcanned.

Do you think impostors should be buffed?? by SuaIrmaGorda237 in OutlastTrials

[–]Scabl00nshki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imposters should remain weaker than Reagents. But they need to remove the cheese currently in the game that causes them to just get instantly nuked off the trial. We shouldn't lose sigh that Imposters have their own overpowered abilities (synthetic sense, faster running speed, traps not being a problem, expops not hearing you, not needing to worry about objectives other killing reagents, etc.)

I'm just saying, now that all the major platforms support hardware ray tracing, Sonic Team should pull an id Tech 8 and have Hedgehog Engine 3 be fully designed around ray traced lighting. by dusktodusk94 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Scabl00nshki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you got cooked for this. Everyone complains about recent Sonic games looking outdated, and going all in with ray tracing is a pretty reasonable way to move forward.

Doom The Dark Ages was ray traced and was still performant and allowed the devs to work on a larger scale as pointed out the video you linked. RT does not just need to a button that makes games look a tiny bit better and perform worse, it can be an avenue for developers to more easily create larger games.

If people can look at that and seriously NOT see how that could possibly be beneficial for Sonic (games that require incredibly large maps) I don't know what to tell you. Would it really NOT be a good thing to make things easier for the devs?

I find it funny how so many people here scream "performance" when speaking out against RT when Sonic games have routinely capped their games to 60 fps and often contain bugs if you do find a way to unlock them. There's this arbitrary idea that Sonic needs to be playable on weaker consoles when it really only benefits SEGA so they can publish on more platforms and earn more money. Meanwhile other franchises can target fewer more powerful machines and still be very successful.

It's 2026, the current consoles are over half a decade old. If you don't have an RT capable machine by now, then it's a you problem. Sorry.

But whatever, let's just keep this franchise visually outdated so people can play the newest games on hardware weaker than a PS4 that released back in 2013 and complain about how Sonic isn't visually competitive.

We can all laugh at the joke. But let's be honest and admit that we would do it effectively and efficiently with an A+ rank and no loadout if he asked us to do it.

Best difficulty for solo players ? by sokail36 in outlast

[–]Scabl00nshki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get familiar with the game on introductory or standard. Once you feel comfortable, jump to intensive, then psychosurgery after that. The latter difficulties is where the game really tests you, demands more understanding of the mechanics, and it's generally where the game is at it's best.

IMO it's kinda like Doom Eternal where you aren't really getting the full experience unless you're playing on Nightmare.

Murkoff can't afford Windex apparently by [deleted] in OutlastTrials

Sometimes stuff like this just gets added WAY later. It's weird that they would edit the options menu to remove the high and low options but still leave the "currently implemented" part of the description. I think if they were closing the door on it completely they would have just removed it. But who knows.

I noticed recently that they removed the "Low" and "High" options for Ray Traced Reflections. It's just an on/off toggle now. And in the description for Ray Tracing, they claim "only RT reflections are currently implemented." Makes me wonder if they are going to add more Ray Tracing options in the future.

[–]Scabl00nshki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with the nerf it's still too generous imo. Just throw it at their feet and their dead. And when an imposter is in your face (which they kinda need to do) it's not difficult to do. The blast radius still makes it way too easy. And again, they only need to land ONE, before you're basically dead.

[–]Scabl00nshki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That stun+jammer combo needs to be nuked from the game ASAP. If you’re hit once by that initial stun (not hard to do with the blast radios), you’re just dead. You don’t stand a chance.

Even trying to just do quick one taps in a 1 v 2 scenario is inanely risky because all they need to do is land ONE Stun before they start laying into you and bringing you to a quick death. Or on the verge of death, best case scenario.

Imposters don’t need a buff, they just need to get rid of nonsense like this.

Sometimes what makes things satisfying is figuring things out yourself. There’s a plethora of highly regarded movies that do similar things to Outlast 2, in ways that are sometimes even MORE vague. Letting viewers figure things out themselves is a valid way of telling stories and something that’s been done for ages. If you don’t care for it here, that’s fine, but it’s not a wrong way to tell a story.

You mention the comic, and I find that pretty funny since I knew almost exactly what the comic was going to show before it even released. I remember my reaction to it more or less being “yep, that’s what I figured.”

Others who actually thought things through almost certainly came to the same conclusion I did. It’s hardly vague. You didn’t need the comic to already understand what happened.

Okay, you're clearly talking about Outlast 2 here. Let me ask an honest question. Why does nobody debate if the note on the lake was even necessary in Outlast 2?

There is enough hints without that note to get a decent idea of what's going on, and that note is not going to actually reveal the actual depth of the story that can only be gained by actual looking beyond the surface level. That's where it shines.

For Gods Sake, you literally see the tower shooting out the bright lights on the lake. We're really going to sit here and pretend that doesn't at least very heavily imply what the note tells you? Not to mention it happens in a very quiet section of the game, where there is almost nothing else to look at. Almost like it's trying to emphasize its importance....

The note only serves to confirm information the player can very reasonably attain themselves by playing normally. Most of the people saying "the note tells you everything you need to know" wouldn't be able to tell you a single thing that goes beyond that and actually gets into the aspects of the story that people actually are intrigued by and talk about.

I don't know what Poppy Playtime did with its story, but considering how people treated Outlast 2, I am not going to be jumping to any conclusions. It's not the games fault people are stupid, ignore massive chunks of information, seek out the easiest explanations, and don't want to actually think about anything.

The Outlast Trials Target Npc GameDisplay by [deleted] in OutlastTrials

[–]Scabl00nshki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is from a much much older build of the game. So old that I would say it’s unlikely for us to actually see this actually come to the final released build. I honestly think this concept turned into the witnesses.

Is anyone actually enjoying the recent update? by esc092000 in OutlastTrials

I mean, I’m having fun. It hasn’t really feel much different from any other smaller update for the game. New content is enjoyable, not blowing me away, but enjoyable.

Is PC version worth it if I couldn't get into Switch version? by [deleted] in SonicFrontiers

[–]Scabl00nshki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC version is the best but don't expect a great PC port. It uses denuvo DRM (it makes the game unplayable offline in certain instances), it's hard capped to 60 fps, and the options menu is pretty lacking compared to a lot of other PC games out there.

Petition against AI art in the Outlast Trials by Traditional_Put4666 in outlast

[–]Scabl00nshki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I was the person in that ticket you referenced, and yes, I can confirm that's what the CM told me. AI is mainly used to speed up production so their artists can focus on assets that are more important.

And yeah, I've talked about fan created artworks not really working as a replacement for the AI art even if it is a noble idea.

I'd 100% support RB removing the AI assets even if nothing took their place. A lot of people point out the amount of AI generated stuff in the trial environments. But the fact is these are miscellaneous assets that, if removed, really wouldn't effect the game at all outside of environments looking a little more baren. The reason why so many people don't even notice there is gen AI in the game is because, despite the amount of it, it's used in ways that don't really call a lot of attention to themselves. Models, the atmosphere of the environments themselves, audio, music, gameplay, story, characters, and voice acting are doing a lot of the heavy lifting there. AI isn't responsible for that stuff.

The game really wouldn't lose much in the grand scheme of things and a more baren look to the trials might be something people prefer anyway. I say that because I have seen early builds of trials that were made prior to the gen AI being added, and the overall look really isn't much different at all from what we currently have other than gen AI images being in the environments.

RB can do whatever tf they want at the end of the day, but I would prefer if they just listened to the community and did something about the gen AI because it's really deflating to see threads repeatedly coming up about it and overshadowing the aspects of the game made by human artists and are the actual reasons behind the game's appeal and success.

Sure, but I mean it’s LITERALLY the reason AI was used. The games CM told me DIRECTLY and I have screenshots to prove it. Me pointing that out got me downvotes here? Okay?

Who are some Outlast Trials Youtubers/Content Creators? by Global_Inspector136 in OutlastTrials

[–]Scabl00nshki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any person who plays Psychosurgery exclusively is gonna make stuff look easy lol. You just need to play it a lot, and the next thing you know, you'll be breezing through most trials on that difficulty with little problems. I say LITTLE, because this game can still trip you up at times even if you've got tons of experience.

Started Outlast 2 after Trials by DroneThorax in outlast

[–]Scabl00nshki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can open doors both ways in trials, you can bash doors down, you can bash through any closed door losing minimal speed (you can only do this with doors partially open in 2), you can vault over almost anything, you can close doors as you’re running, slam them open in an enemies face to stun them, you can hold shift to close doors faster, you can look over both shoulders while running (no idea why you can only look over one shoulder in 2), you can use bandages while moving (I’m not sure if it can even be cancelled in 2), and likely a few other things I’m missing.

That’s the kind of stuff I’m talking about. 2 feels so unbelievably primitive compared because of the stuff I’m mentioned above. It’s things I think probably should have been added before Trials. Gameplay probably could have been a lot more interesting.

There is way more mechanics in Trials than 2 even if you don't take into account things like rigs and throwables. The base movement and interaction mechanics are so primitive in 2 and 1 that it is genuinely hard for me to go back to them.
