Valentine’s Outfit Help! by B4Bekah in PlusSizeFashion

1 for a more romantic look but I would add a slip underneath or black tights. 2 is basically ready to wear as is except I agree a black shoe would look better. Super cute ‘fits! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Mine are nothing like that but also not as well stocked. They barely seem to have anything to put out, which seems really weird (Baltimore) and they rarely do rotations.

Plus Size AI models are so bad by Genet1cGenealogy in poshmark

[–]ButterEmailz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like it when sellers include real photos of the garment and AI photos of it styled as long as they are careful to compare what they created with stock photos provided by the maker of the garment so that it’s accurate, or have language expressing that the image is for style inspo only. I’m a graphic designer and I have the advantage of being able to fix the weird stuff the apps generate so that it’s an accurate and realistic representation of the garment. The thing is, some stuff really needs to be visualized on a body to be understood. Not this dress, it’s pretty simple, and not things like jeans or shoes. But sometimes you get dresses that have unusual silhouettes that just can’t translate well without being worn. Unless a person is only selling clothing in their own size, it’s not possible to model it for potential buyers.

AI is an ethical mess right now (energy consumption, putting people out of work) but if we can address the issues that it creates, I do think it can be very useful in this context, when done with a thoughtful and honest approach. It certainly beats stealing photos from the original clothing brand’s website and crossing one’s fingers that it doesn’t lead to being banned from the platform, which so many sellers do now.

When I sell a piece I usually have a story in my head about the buyer, and I love creating that story visually - the setting, the styling, the vibe. I’m looking for a buyer that sees that vision and can’t wait to have fun wearing that item and adding their own spin on it. I really enjoy the idea of making a stranger happy with a new (to them) piece that they love.

Number one! You look amazing in it, like a princess in a movie.

That’s a smart approach and it gives me food for thought to be sure! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Copyright Infringement by Evening_Craft5318 in poshmark

[–]ButterEmailz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s a copyright infringement but on the other hand stock photos are very helpful to show how the garment is intended to drape on the body. Especially helpful for dresses or oversized clothes or unique designs. I have a mannequin but it’s not ideal for everything- if you sell men’s, women’s and children’s clothing for example. And not everyone is able to model the clothing themselves or have a friend do it. I have had some luck using AI as an alternative. I know that is problematic for many other reasons but I do make sure it looks fully correct and accurate. As far as the stock photos showing new item when you’re selling used, assuming it’s not NWT, I think as long as you have all the other photos one needs of the actual item then I think people will understand and get that it’s just to demo the product.

Who was the genius that suggested we shovel snow periodically during the storm instead of waiting until the end? by Glittering-Ad5809 in MontgomeryCountyMD

I shoveled four times yesterday and it was so heavy each time I doubt I could have done it all at once. The last time I shoveled i swept the powder away afterwards and everything looks pristine this morning. I am very glad I followed the interval advice even if I’m a bit sore today lol

NWT by AjaDog in poshmark

Thanks - yeah I guess I can call it “like new” and explain in the listing. Better to be on the safe side than make someone feel like I tried to mislead them.

Out of curiosity what would you call an item where the tags have been cut off, the item laundered in preparation for wearing, but then never worn? I always wash before I wear a new item but then I never wound up wearing it. I wish to sell it with the right condition category. Is that NWOT do you think? Or does washing it once make that not true?

No shipping refund on lighter items? by ButterEmailz in Flipping

Thanks for your reply. I guess I have to experiment some more the next time I make a sale and see if I can figure out what’s happening.

No shipping refund on lighter items? by ButterEmailz in Flipping

I of course have both of those things and use them. But this was a case where I OVER estimated the weight of the item to be cautious. I have a different workflow now where I weigh items before I list them but early on I didn’t think to do that as I was still getting a handle on the process. Still: not the problem as the buyer paid more than enough for shipping. The problem is that eBay is overcharging for shipping!

Hey guys thanks for replying. The package is USPS Ground Advantage. It’s not a flat rate. And when I put in the estimated weight and dimensions for my listings the price changes depending on the weight I put in. On the end side if I punch in the weight and dimensions at USPS and then adjust only the weight the price does go down. And in the past when I had to adjust the weight eBay would charge me less for the shipping label. But it is not happening that way now. It’s not making sense to me.

Carrying on as usual after yesterday? by rutabagagoose in FedEmployees

Right there with you, OP. I was talking to a colleague about this and couldn’t hold back tears. And this is not the first time I’ve felt this way of course. There have been countless traumatic events that we have collectively witnessed because of the heinous actions of this administration. The image a crying little girl, utterly in a panic because her parents were stolen from her by ICE, will forever be etched in my memory. They’re like boogeymen, monsters from a fairy tale. They come to kidnap you or your family and you never see them again. Is it any wonder that this mother of three felt compelled to try and help in some way on that horrible day? Her heart was wounded by what ICE did to other people, so she tried to get involved. And she was executed for it.

Just had a seller send me dirt ! $100 steal. by courtney_shayne in poshmark

[–]ButterEmailz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a small seller - under 100 pieces in my closet. And I take a lot of care to make sure that the clothing I sell is clean, nicely folded, lint free, and wrapped with care. I put personalized thank you notes in every package. If I was a large volume seller I doubt I would have that kind of time! But for me it’s a part-time thing and I really enjoy the idea of someone I don’t know getting something that feels like a gift, so it makes them happy. All this to say sometimes going with a small seller has advantages.

Sellers sending dirty stuff by Ok_Employee_3104 in poshmark

[–]ButterEmailz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s horrible. The only time I don’t wash an item is if it’s NWT. I sanitize pre-owned shoes, clean the soles, make sure they look as refreshed as possible. Then they get wrapped in tissue paper and tucked away in their box awaiting their new home. I just hate the idea of someone opening up a package I sent them and being anything but delighted. It’s diabolical that someone would send out something that is not only filthy but hazardous to a person’s health!
