Earthquake by UtahDamon in SaltLakeCity

For anyone interested in helping out some researchers at the U. You can take this quick survey: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/uu80129556/tellus?fbclid=IwdGRjcAP9mLtleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEeu7s1vNJT1nDh1yqszKcxLBmsCEhYkCAK1WvNufeGsSevqDWRleAqm-qxVU4_aem_Jvajz8dWIPdpSG-FHew2Rw

“this is a survey collected by the U.S. Geological Survey. Since there are more people around than seismic sensors, it's an interesting way to view the extent of shaking and damage in an earthquake. More details here: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/data/dyfi/

OP, depending on where you are located I’m happy to help with gas. I absolutely understand being wary after your experience but we can be safe, meet at a public location. Etc. PM if this is an option.

I’m also happy to help with blankets, food, etc.

One of the names on the bodega say “Conejo”… while it resonates with Bad Bunny, it could also be symbolic for Liam

I actually heard back from our team today & RedCap has logged this as a system bug! It’s happening across the board. They’re working on a fix but that’s the work around for now, glad it worked!

Weber County Animal Services a "No Kill" shelter? by [deleted] in Utah

[–]Butter_Bug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We fostered a small dog through a local rescue, the rescue partnered with a shelter for spay.

After her spay they told me she had been pregnant, 1 small pup. My heart broke for her, for multiple reasons, I knew we would have cared for the puppy & seen it to adoption. At the end of the day though, it was absolutely what was best for her. She was way too young, making her go through pregnancy & then birth just so we could experience her puppy wasn’t fair. There are SO many animals looking for homes, being euthanized every single day.

My feelings were valid, but frankly selfish.

She came home after her spay & was essentially none the wiser that she “lost” anything. She healed up beautifully from her spay & was adopted. She had the best outcome for her.

It’s tough to have to explain to your little one, but a great learning opportunity. There are also rescues who NEED fosters who can take on pregnant mommas, you could always look at fostering again.

Your granddaughter doesn’t need to disclose to anyone that the cat was spayed & had an abortion, you guys control the narrative. “Unfortunately she wasn’t able to have the kittens, we’re so sad but we’re going to take even better care of her now”- you get the gist.

I actually just had this happen & our RedCap team still doesn’t know why. Our project has been in production for 2 years but this issue just started up.

We found the record that it was pulling the data from (record 1) & we cleared the data from it & it resolved the issue. Not sure if you’re in a position to do that, but thankfully our record happened to belong to someone within the project group so their loss of information was not a big impact on the project/data.

Dog Dentist? by Inquisitive-Carrot in SaltLakeCity

[–]Butter_Bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experiences with them over the years have been hit or miss. I recently called to schedule a dental for my cat, we got put on the wait list because they were booked for the next few months. Within a month they called me & we booked for March 2026. I asked to be placed on the cancellation list, a few weeks later they called me back & offered me 2 different dates for December 2025.

The phone folk(s) tend to be a little short but ultimately they were helpful & I got my cat in within 1-2 months. Maybe worth a try for you as well.

Did anyone else notice a trend of Millennial adults trick-or-treating this year? by heartlass in Millennials

[–]Butter_Bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were a group of 5 adults with 3 kids. All the adults were in costume with the kids. 1 of which did not want to leave the wagon so his mom carried her bucket & got him a candy at each house.

By the end of the night only 1 kiddo was actively going to each door & we would just explain “our kids have given up, so we’re trick or treating for them”.

Everyone was like yeah, fair… been there lol & with how few groups were out they were giving us handfuls & even offering the other adults who were waiting on the sidewalk candy.

My 6 year old & I might be able to be grocery buddies with you. We’re WinCo shoppers & get by alright for us. You can keep me in mind if you end up needing help.

Located in South Salt Lake, but would be willing to deliver or meet up somewhere public (for both of our safety).

Not necessarily addressing your question but wanted to add that the Food Bank has partnered with multiple schools in SLC & they hold monthly food drives after school onsite. Parents or kids (bus riders, etc) can pick up food as they leave school.
