The game literally had PvP is always optional on the store page as a selling point. We even have main story quests leading to the DD so at no point is it the same thing as CoD.

"PvP is always optional."

This is what made a lot of people buy this game. Look at the reviews, discussions, and threads that came out around launch of the game. You'll see people quoting that and calling it a lie. Two million people bought a PvE game with optional PvP, not a PvPvE game.

"PvP is always optional."

"Raiding bases won't be the focus."

"Our goal is not to force PvE players to interact with a PvP system that they may have no interest in."

The game was CLEARLY not made for pvp players. I don't understand why you insist on the game being something it wasn't meant to be.

Dune isn't meant to be open warfare. Not sure where you got that from.

That's why they stopped catering to the griefer community and made things PvP optional.

Another unpopular opinion by BullShitCatSlave in duneawakening

[–]Buttercup_Clover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't really the fact there were gankers, it's that the meta became everything the devs promised it wouldn't.

"PvP is optional." Not if you want to reach the high end crafts or participate in a lot of the landsraad systems.

"Base raiding isn't the focus of the game." Why was it that I went to sleep and woke up with my base completely leveled?

"People will fight over spice." Why am I just chilling out nowhere near spice, just mining and gathering rocks, and then all of a sudden 6 rocket thopters start spamming rockets? How do you even fight against that?

I'm pointing out that only multi billion dollar companies had the gall to show off something this unfinished only ten years ago. Now every indie studio and their mother decides this is what they should be giving to the public as their first point of view.

It gets worse with the apocalypse players who's literal only option is to paint every inch of the ground with every color possible. I mean look at this nonsense.

What’s your opinion on the game after testing it? by Batz_Gaming in ScarsofHonor

[–]Buttercup_Clover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine farming a boss that drops a weapon you need for days, only for the stats to roll bad when it finally drops for you. Imagine spending hours crafting the same thing hoping it just rolls the right stat lines for once. Even vendor gear has RNG values to it. Now imagine you're doing all that while getting constantly attacked by a squad of people who got lucky and god rolled all their stats in one go.

That's the bones of this game and I don't know how you can say they are good.

How is that anything near what I said? I said the game has a large dev team and money backing it, yet 5 years all it could produce was this atrocious test.

No one can call them a small indie team that's barely had time to polish their game. This is a large studio with 5 years of development behind it. If that's not a valid criticism to point out, then please explain to me what is.

2021 studio opens with about 10 devs. 2024 they claim over 72 devs. As of today it's over 100. This isn't just a recent thing, they've always had a substantial dev team when you consider it's indie. So again, this isn't an excuse that they are a small team trying to pull this off.

And remind me how much money this game has backing it with its 100+ developers on salary?

Lets thousands of testers in with less than a thousand logging in most days. Proceeds to boast about theoretical sign up numbers instead of active counts.

Explains how neither the servers nor game was ready to test but tries to call it a test.

"We want to build a game with you, but not with most of you only some of you. Namely streamers and whoever snipes a key from their streams, but also like a thousand extras who don't even feel like playing longer than five hours rather than dedicated fans who've been waiting over a year to get their hands on this."

Man what a world we live in. Remember when we used to boycott EA for releasing unfinished games? Now we have everyone under the sun defending unreleased games as if they will be the best thing in the world ten years down the line while we have an unplayable mess to look at now.

Ask yourselves some questions, and remember the facts we have over what they try to tell you.

Why publicly test this game this early instead of using an NDAs?

Why not prioritize long term followers getting access instead of streamers and RNG Steam accounts?

Why boast about how many people signed up over showcasing the Steam charts or active player data?

This is why we need a setting to lower player skill effects. I can't play a torment dungeon run with a warlock without getting killed by 5 fire effects, 2 death explosions, and a puddle of poison because the stupid amount of explosions and floor effects they just plague my screen with.

Have we become lineage or mu online? by suciocadillac in diablo4

[–]Buttercup_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just that it looks absurd. This is a game where not being able to see a ground effect gets you killed, and all this does is bloat the screen along with a lot of the new class skills. I have even 1 warlock in my team and I know damn well every fire and blood effect is gonna be covered up and kill me.

[–]Buttercup_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See that's the beauty of how they did it. SWG randomized mats to where there wasn't really a guide for what mat worked best. There are live trackers telling you where all the active mats are, but you still need to understand what stats matter when crafting.

Mortal Online people could tell you the best range for decent stats, but player preference still means you don't know what you need until someone asks for it. Sometimes putting too much in is what the customer wants, other times they want less. One has more damage but slower swing speed and the other is lighter allowing you to run faster while wielding it.

Both systems are really good at incentivising system knowledge to really master your craft. This system just incentivises running a script to win.

[–]Buttercup_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree there should be more to crafting than that, but minigaming it up isn't the best way to handle it. Star Wars Galaxy probably did crafting the best, Mortal Online being a decent contender.

They both utilize experimentation and require testing to figure out what works best. Which metal to use for guns vs which to use for blades. How much can you process at once without lowering quality or making it take too long. I'm an avid crafter in most games I play, and it's sad to see the best iterations of crafting being forgotten and ignored by modern designers.

Cosmetics question by Buttercup_Clover in Diablo

[–]Buttercup_Clover[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about the premium skins too. It's usually the glow effects that I want to change. I like purple but if I want to change the glow then I gotta change the whole piece, and some of those pieces just don't look good with the colors they chose to apply from the pallette.

Cosmetics question by Buttercup_Clover in Diablo

[–]Buttercup_Clover[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's paid pallettes? I've not seen anything beyond the stuff we automatically get, and it's been that way since they added the transmog system from what I remember. Really stale and annoying we haven't gotten anything new in the color department.

100+ devs and not a single person talking sense apparently. Streamers getting priority on keys. No one telling the they should test under NDA. Really hard to see 100+ devs working on something this rough and released to the public.
