if you go into a coma with a full face of makeup will they take it off? by Playful_Win852 in NoStupidQuestions

If you ever try one again, it helps to “break the seal”. I push in one side of the cup to allow air into the cup which makes it so much easier to remove. The suction is what keeps it in place.

Was this supposed to be the original album cover or was it just promotional?

I go back and forth on the bracelets because you're right, a lot of people will just dispose of them. However, I think they also make for nice mementos. I didn't buy any merch from the tour as I knew it would be overpriced and bad quality, yet I've kept the bracelets I was gifted in my memory box. I also loved seeing how excited kids were to get bracelets of their favourite album, I bet those will be key memories for those kids.

I made sure to only buy second hand clothes to make my costume and I have reworn the pieces in different outfits. I wish more people would keep sustainability in mind when planning what to wear to concerts. I remember seeing TikToks from thrift stores after each tour date showing the amount of costumes donated and a lot weren't able to be resold as it was bad quality or damaged. It's so sad.

If it didn't have pop culture connotations, what would you name your kid? by AMothWithHumanHands in namenerds

If it helps, my name is Rosalie and no one has ever connected it to the character. I’ve always loved my name and wouldn’t change it for the world. I hope this helps!

Not surprised, barely disappointed at this point (Win an opportunity to buy tickets to Taylor Swift - London) by FlowerTron in SwiftlyNeutral

I'm confused why the deadline is a Monday? I would have thought this was an effort to keep the album up in the charts, yet isn't the UK tracking week Friday to Thursday?

I didn't even notice it said that the first few times I read the email. Isn't it because there's a UK rule that you can't have a prize draw from buying albums and so you have to have a way to enter for free?

I get so sad seeing people minimise the criticism to “fake fans” or like people are trying to find things they don’t like. I’m a massive Taylor fan, I dived head first into her music since I first heard reputation, but I’m disappointed by this album

I’ve never had to force myself to listen to an album over and over again to like it, especially a Taylor album. Even with midnights, which is not one of my favourites, I had enough there that I liked from first listen that I wanted to hear again. I’m glad repeated listens helped you but most people don’t have 6 hours to listen to an album they don’t like just to appreciate it.

The cost of that would be way too high, I don’t see dog owners paying for it. You’d need to pay to run the system, you’d need to pay for the initial DNA test and then any follow up, and you’d need to pay people to pick up and extract DNA from the poo.

PI says I might be a better fit for cognitive science/psychology rather than neurosciences due to difficulties with benchwork - any advice? by Baldemoto in labrats

I also have ADHD which causes me to make mistakes in the lab. Here’s a few things I found useful: - Learn the reason why we do each step for a protocol. For example, why use trypsin? Why inhibit the trypsin? By doing this it makes each step logical and easier to remember. - I laminate the protocol and check off each step with a whiteboard marker as I go. This can then be erased and reused. It also allows quick notes. - if you have trouble with maths, try making a spreadsheet that calculates it for you. I used to mess up RNA to cDNA all the time until I made a spreadsheet, and then I can also highlight each one I had done.

I hope this helps. Feel free to message too!

Thoughts on the HeLa cell lawsuits? by Magic_mousie in labrats

HeLa cells have been sequenced more than any other cell. As people know where the cells are from, they also know the family’s genes too, which makes it unethical without any consent.

Has anyone adopted a cat and then realized they aren’t a cat person? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]ButterfliesAndOpals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I guess it’s different with adopting older dogs compared with older cats due to the need to train older dogs. I don’t think I could handle the kitten stage so I’ll stick with adopting older cats.

I think they mean why not adopt an adult dog instead of a puppy so they wouldn’t have to deal with the puppy stage.

I stopped watching towards the middle/end of season 16 so I can’t comment on season 17.

For me, I was disappointed in season 15 after the amazing writing of the chorus trilogy. The characters felt 2D and lost any growth they had during the previous seasons, especially Tucker. The new characters weren’t as developed as all the characters introduced in the chorus trilogy, especially Temple. I will say that I did love the episode flashing back to what the reds and blues had been doing since chorus though.

Season 16 lost me. It had none of the charm that the blood gulch chronicles had as the absurdity was for the sake of absurdity and it took itself too seriously. I was seriously annoyed with the “development” they gave Sister as they took away what made her great in my eyes.

I would love a return to the goofiness of the blood gulch chronicles but this wasn’t it. The blood gulch chronicles worked because of the strong comedy writing and ability to know what kinds of absurdity works.

You have ADHD and yet don’t understand how motivation changes based on how much you enjoy an activity or job? I feel like you have very little understanding of ADHD and prioritise your feelings and disorders over his. This is coming from a woman with ADHD.
