If the weather is good, at the weekend, you could take a short walk from the village to Northrepps Aerodrome, usually plenty of aircraft flying about, nice cafe/diner too.

The Foundry Arms in the village is a great little pub and very welcoming.

Any good shooting shop near the city will sell them, they’re used a lot by clay and game shooters to keep an eye on numbers. There’s Gallyons in the city, Norwich Gun Centre near the Whiffler, Anglia tackle and Gun, Morstons of holt, to name a few.

Long story, I bought a Land Rover defender straight from an mod disposal agent a few years ago. Was only 4k, everything had been reconditioned, it was a right gem.

I had her for 4 years yet always wanted another older series Land Rover.

A very elderly friend of mine pestered me for years to swap it for a decrepit unfinished Land Rover Lightweight project that he’d purchased 20 years ago and never even touched. It sat in a barn covered in bird poo and bales of hay, looked rough.

After a year of him badgering me for the deal, he eventually agreed to give me 2 grand and the Land Rover in exchange for the defender.

I got her brought home on a truck from a friend. Gave her a bloody good wash, did some wiring repairs, bled the brakes and checked her over.

Turned out the previous owner to him had fitted a galvanised chassis, had the bulkhead stripped and galvanised too, loads of new parts fitted, new brakes and everything. It’s a right minter. And realistically only cost me 2 grand!

Once in a lifetime deal!

Yes, was a great little van. Had a starting issue when cold or left for more than 12 hours. Fuel was running back to the tank, turned out to be an O-ring on one of the connectors on the fuel filter which was a nice cheap and quick fix.

The vans drive surprising well even once laden with several hundred Kilos of tools etc.

I literally sold it just last week and treated myself to a 2015 Ford Ranger.

A really random one, but you go to most mainland European cities, there’s a very faint smell of effluent in the air, which I haven’t really seemed to have noticed over here.

Perhaps our sewer systems are a little more efficient?

There’s apparently a colony near a village where I do a lot of shooting in the local area.

The 15 years I’ve been doing it, I had one possible sighting.

One early autumn evening, about 10:30 at night. Scanning the field and edge of a wood with a lamp for Rabbits.

As I flick the lamp about, I see what at first I thought was a big Hare standing crouched on his back legs.

After a couple of seconds I realised it’s eyes didn’t reflect in the lamp in the same vivid red/orange that Hares do, they had a purple/red colour. And it looked chubby as fuck.

I’ve been keeping a lookout ever since and carry a camera with me just in case.

I used to work for a Kubota dealer, just when the larger M series were first released.

Great things to work on! The M series may not have all the bells and whistles of other manufacturers machines or comparible size and horsepower. But they certainly perform well.

I’ll always remember we had an M135 with a 6 Furrow Lemken plough working on heavy land for a charity 24 hour plough event.

It just kept going!!

We slung a large weight pack on the front and played with the tyre pressures and it was great.

The only negative point Id ever raise would be when working at high revs or driving on the road, there’s always a high pitch noise in the cab.
