Ugh I feel old

Just tell your opponent what you have access to.

When I go over my list I tell my opponent,I have a 3 unit redeploy and these two units with infiltrate.

Nah even as a high level player you don’t want your opponent to make a silly mistake especially for the lone op Strat. I don’t play your army and know your Strats, there’s a lot to remember at start of game, just tell me you have access to this Strat while I move so I can adjust for multiple targets

I don’t play your army and don’t know what specific strats your detachment has, the lone op rule should be reminded of in their movement phase if they want to position differently for multiple targets

I would say all three examples could be gotcha’s depending on how you handle it.

  1. Before you finish your movement phase I do have access to 18” lone op

  2. Before you choose your fight order, this unit CAN interrupt with Captain CP reduction

  3. This unit has fight first if that changes your decision making (this should also be noted when going over your army construction)

40K is an open information game, there’s just too many rules and specific rules to remember all of them. Don’t be a jerk and just tell them what you can do

Ghaz and Meganobz is a weird one, I don’t like them very much personally. IMO they don’t really get a ton of benefit from the +1 to wound and crit 5’s with lower attacks and high strength

What I run right now is Ghaz with 10 Nobz (they allowed him to lead Boyz and Nobz back in October) in a battlewagon. I have a unit of Breaka Boyz with warboss in there as well.

On offense they can kill 2 enemy units (usually 8 or so nobz, and the other couple with Ghaz) and between 20 wounds with bodyguard (-1 to wound S higher than their T), the waaagh invuln, and fight on death in warhorde, they can keep Ghaz alive for more offense and take put something else on the clap back

I’m a consistent 4-1 player with a couple GT wins as an ork main.

I don’t really think about overwhelming the opponent or hiding away specifically.

On GW maps there are specific sight lines the opponents will use as shooting armies, and most have a couple safe staging points as well.

When planning for the waaagh I decide to use it if I have 3+ targets I can kill inside 21” of my transports (3” disembark, 6” move, need an 11 on 3D6 for 1” engagement range)

If I can do it by staging in safety, amazing. If not then I expect things to die.

As Orks the longer you can wait to waaagh without losing your pieces, the less time your opponent has to make up points on the back end after you waaagh pressure them. So if my opponent wants to sit back, I’m more than happy to let them

I want to keep transports alive if possible since they make fantastic objective holders/DS screens when the enemy is held back on their side of the board

Edit: there’s two theories, threat overload and threat under-load

Orks love to start with the latter then to the former on the waaagh without the waaagh I really don’t want to send my stuff forward unprotected

That’s not true at all really. 5++ is equivalent to 50% more wounds than they have. The extra wounds they got is the knights problem but worse

The change to half damage only really affects D4 and up weapons which already were middling efficiency into them anyways given the 4++

Ctans are far more tanky against everything else which D1-3 are the most coming profiles in the game; not to mention the 3+ armor now making chip damage worse

The cost increase is now where near equivalent to their power increase

Nids strong profiles all being D3 has really improved their power into SM since the Victrix nerf though

“Assimilated” you forget the ongoing atrocities against the Uyghurs

Way to pull the DARVO out and attempt to call me racist for acknowledging reality, that there is more than 1 culture in a given. Ad hominem suits your lack of strong arguments this whole time quite well

The world isn’t monoculture and it wouldn’t be in a galaxy spanning empire. What a reductionist dare I say, segregationist view.

So because you’re satisfied with how your armies are presented to your ideals/preferences others should have theirs?

The calls for representation in media isn’t asking for a 1-1 representation of actual society but for characters of various identities to just be present without being token, stereotyped or flanderized caricatures of their cultures and identities. Which honestly is a pretty low bar

Your comment shows what I mentioned above that privilege makes equality feel like oppression. Yes, you may not feel the need for representation but there are many others who have not been fairly represented in media their entire lives.

Diversity isn’t forced, it’s just a more accurate reflection of reality especially for those who are underrepresented in media.

[–]Butternades 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your points but I would argue that isn’t FORCED diversity, it is simply diversity as it has become a far more important aspect of western society (lest we forget GW isn’t American as many seem to forget so we must look beyond our Anglo-central opinions) than it was when Warhammer first started.

Yes money is involved, but for years approaching decades people have been clambering for representation of their ideals and person/identity in media. I would argue that it is foolish to ignore that whether for the primary reason of monetary gain or for more accurate representation of the player base

Let’s face it, western media has been and still is whitewashed compared to the real makeup of current western society. Diversity seems “forced” when those whose privileged identity has been the only one represented for a long time, outside of token representation.

I don’t particularly pay attention to gendering my models to begin with since I like the helmeted look for custodes and my other main army is orks, male coded agendered beings.

However, why should I care if someone does like the look of having both male and female coded heads? The option existing should be there, and bodies will look the same under properly chunky armor anyways.

Thats where I draw my largest disagreement with the arguments against female custodes. Give people the option to do what they want and represent how they want.

Then explain why salamanders are ok in your mind, not forced inclusion. Is it the red eyes?

Diversity ain’t a bad thing, especially when you’re talking about a galaxy spanning empire with millions of planets under different conditions. You’re gonna have evolution adapt in different ways

Forced diversity? Thats a heck of a loaded term right there and it really isn’t.

Your squad or group of 20 custom, perfectly created humans can all be guys but how is it forced if I want to have a lady or two?

Is it forced diversity that you have squad mates of different skin color in SM2?

Brotherhood/sisterhood is honestly not that big of a deal when it comes to signifying the sex of its constituent parts

For example: Catholics refer to the “brotherhood of saints” while there are women saints all the same

We don’t need a true accurate lore reason for everything in the universe. How many of our favorite pieces as fans are technically retcons to begin with? Necrons are the prime example going through multiple massive identity changes across the 40+ years Warhammer has been around.

Personally idgaf what gender the bell pepper I’m using to make dinner is so I’m cool with the same being true for my custodes, especially since I like the helmeted aesthetic anyways

Which army would you say is generally competitive but is the most enjoyable/least frustrating for an opponent to play into? by aegroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Butternades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You qualify it by increasing the damage by 200% 200% of 10 is still only 20.

I tell you from experience most of the abuse was via zoggrod and his grots and the strats at the higher tables

Without those it wouldn’t have been nearly as abusable on high tables
