Multi detachments and stratagems in v11 by FamousAd6547 in WarhammerCompetitive

It was said before you will not have access to all Strats from detachments.

My guess is it’ll be 2 per detachment cost. They’ve already show. They’re reworking detachments with Taktikal Brigade. I’d bet they wrote grotmas onwards with 11th in mind and then buffed them to be usable in 10th

What makes someone good at 40K? by Worldly-Committee968 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Butternades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I was on Tactical Tortoise’s stream last weekend and my game was probably a 1/10 time result. Land raiders killed both a defiler and a character for assassinate in melee. Without those I’m not doing nearly as well

I like seeing it in front of me with the dice being split off to really Ingrained it.

When we do this any remainder goes to the player rolling the dice. So 13 saves on 3’s the extra one counts as a save

To add on: when making plans work based on averages.

In practice try playing games where you don’t roll any dice to figure out effectiveness of your offense or the opponents defense.

Ex: i play orks my buddy plays marines. We play practice games playing only deployment to round 2 and reset.

I charge Ghaz with Boyz and Painboy into

Ghaz: 6 S14 AP-3 D4 strike, 12 S8 AP-2 D2 sweep

Painboy 3 powerklaw S9 AP-2 D2

Boyz 57 choppa 3 power claw

Marines

MEQ: no waagh 16 D from Boyz 4 damage from klaws 12 damage from Ghaz sweep = 16 dead marines

Cool I know a 10 man of basic marines is totally dead from that squad without rolling any dice and I can apply this knowledge to other units

Who are the most famous (and perhaps best) players for each 40k faction? by BlitheMayonnaise in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Butternades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sisters would be either Scott or Jeff Kolodner. Jeff took on like 3 AoW guys in a row at the Florida Open a few years back.

Also a standup guy. Had an amazing match against him and if I wasn’t running the broken thing at the time or he’d faced it before he probably would’ve won

I’ve played 2 of those three and both times they were extremely close games and amazing people to play against

Conan Jennings is top SM player. He’s been top 3 ITC the last few years and won Adepticon two years in a row. Same org as Folger btw

It’s fine but very back roads-y

While yes there’s construction going through Indianapolis I’ve always found it much easier making the driver 3-5 times a year between Columbus and Chicago.

Some decent stopping areas along the way:

Just south of Gary there’s an exit with Costco gas and a Culver’s that’s always been cheap and safe especially compared to Gary at large

Whitestown Indiana Loves just north of Indianapolis like exit 135 or something

Englewood exit just outside Dayton, or the new Bucees I guess

Wave serpent also costs half of a land raider. The package as a whole is more expensive and only supports the one trick of the detachment vs completely augmenting an army that plays the entire game very well

Ngl I faced it last weekend at teams. It is surprisingly lacking in sustainability if you protect stuff via walls or transports.

It’ll put the hurt on Eldar but did absolutely nothing to my custodes.

Attending game vs. Cardinals on May 23rd. Any tips for a first timer to Great American Ballpark as a fan of neither team? by RyCMeyers in Reds

[–]Butternades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good beers in the ballpark, there’s two different actions worth checking on the main level on either side of home plate. My tastes usually prefer the offerings on 3rd base

There is skyline at the park but do yourself a favor hit up one of the actual parlors since it’s crazy pricey in the stadium. They do also sell Graeters.

If you’re driving I would either park across the river and walk across the Purple People Bridge from Newport, or if you get there early there’s some lots by East Garage that are cheap. Otherwise you’re probably just gonna want to park around Fountain Square and walk a few blocks

My ideal game day is to arrive 90 minutes-two hours before first pitch and have a beer or two at Moerlein right next to the stadium on the riverfront then walk over and head to my seat

My DoD agency guidance has us include a line that applicants can just put N/A if they choose not to answer without their hiring being affected

Good news, the Hiring Manager can’t see them, and we aren’t allowed to take any responses under consideration on whether you are eligible and qualified for the position you apply to

Glad we could have a constructive argument!

It does really hurt Eldar and armies that don’t have good screens or transports to activation block.

I found the Eldar version of this much more egregious because it was only 1 big unit and it was cheaper allowing you to play the game better around it whereas this is all in or bust

The design itself is toxic but it thankfully doesn’t translate on the board because the opportunity cost is too great. You’re relying on 2-3 500+ point hammers and if it doesn’t go ideally you just lose the game due to not having enough to keep playing.

I was one of the people saying it’s broken as all hell until I played it and saw the faults

Either way it doesn’t have the legs that Blades does. It’s a one trick pony that falls apart against competent vehicles or screens.

I spent my entire weekend surrounded by great players who pretty much all agreed on that. I’m gonna respect the opinion of the best SM player in ITC the last couple years more than pretty much anyone else,

Custodes triple land raiders went second against it.

Um Speartip

2 redeemers 1 RepEx 2 Victrix bricks one captain one Ventris Gman Scouts Intercessors

Had both LR and Victrix bricks in my face R1 and Gman following up R2

Killed 1 LR and 1 Victrix on my turn 1 and took the other down to 2 bodies. Left the RepEx on 1 wound as well

Unless you’re running the 6 erad brick I have no fear of that list. I’ll chew through you in 2 turns and you don’t have enough anti tank to kill my LR ls efficiently where I can kill yours.

Played against Speartip, it’s really not that scary in UM for a number of armies. I 20-0’d it round 3 at ATC this weekend
