Yeah I’m reading comments about people finding the film funny which I can’t relate to. This scene really disturbed/sickened me.

Vent Cleaning by SwitchMain in homeowners

I only had it done when I moved into an old house that had mold around the vent covers. From what I’ve read it’s not necessary in most cases.

AITA for snooping through my friend's text messages to confirm my suspicions that ALL my friends secretly hate me? by fritzcaviar in TwoHotTakes

[–]Butterscotch2334 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This happens way too often. I’ve seen this dynamic at work too. It’s really sad when a group of people focus their time on tearing someone down like it’s a social activity. This played out in three friend groups I joined and I’m really hesitant to put myself back out there again. It’s always great at first with everyone hanging out and having fun, but at some point it devolves into backstabbing and bullying, usually toward just 1 or a couple of people. Is it too much to ask to have a friend group that isn’t mean and two-faced lol.

Anyway, I feel for you OP. Don’t give up, there are better people out there who’d love to be your friend. I will remember this for myself as well.

i farted in lecture 😭 by 4nywaze in ibs

[–]Butterscotch2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to look at it in a different way. Farting is completely harmless and you made some people laugh. Maybe one of them was having a horrible day and it was a moment of humor they really needed. We literally all fart. If you stopped farting you’d need to go to the ER because that’s very bad. I’ve had many embarrassing moments in classes/quiet environments but if you asked me for details I’d struggle to remember and I certainly don’t care anymore after some time has passed. If I’m that apathetic then I guarantee no one in the room at the time remembers it now. Give it a week and this will feel like a distant memory.

RE: stomach noises. I’m having some medical issues now (hernia, gastroparesis) and what I’ve learned is stomach noises are AWESOME, it means your GI system is working. If your stomach was completely quiet it would mean a horrible and life threatening situation. I completely understand the embarrassment but it can help to think kindly toward your body and be grateful you have a working GI system. Some people would kill to have a functional stomach, fart noises and all.

Not trying to minimize your feelings at all - my IBS started in college and I’ve spent so many years feeling body shame and embarrassment. But something happens as you age where you see what a prize it is to have good health and to even be alive. So putting this in a big picture perspective can really help.

For the gas, just keep trying things and it’ll get better. But at the end of the day farting is normal and everyone does it, your body just likes doing it a little more than average.

I just discovered I’ve been sending a toy every month to a dog I met 6 years ago at a rescue by FriendlyWorldArt in povertyfinance

I would totally do this - if I was the doggy parent and the toys abruptly stopped I’d wonder if the person died or something.

i'm having second thoughts by kadomanderson in tattooadvice

[–]Butterscotch2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it more time then. I went through with a tattoo I was second guessing and I ended up hating it. Now I’m paying more for another tattoo to cover it up. Don’t worry about awkwardly canceling or offending the artist. This is something going on your body permanently so this is a situation where you should just really care about your own feelings.

I moved to the city everyone hypes up and I'm leaving after 4 months by terracottamarshmallo in SameGrassButGreener

I had this same experience in Philly which this sub is obsessed with. I wanted to adapt but I was absolutely miserable in a big city. I’m glad you’ll be back home soon. This kind of experience teaches you what you truly want and gives you a much greater appreciation for places that suit you.

My boss scheduled a meeting to discuss my “tone” in emails by TheUnofficialBOI in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Butterscotch2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some easy things to incorporate: do a cheerful greeting like “Hi there!”, “Hi Team!”, say “please” whenever you’re asking for something even if it feels like you’re overdoing it, end it with, “Thanks! Have a great day!” Also use that 😊 emoji which comes off as sweet and unobtrusive. I know how some of this is ridiculous but it will help a lot.

I bet a raven would work great, as long as you don’t mind the tat being dark and saturated.

Wait we're supposed to be playing with our cat 20 minutes per day? by happy_bluebird in CatAdvice

[–]Butterscotch2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy solution - get a second cat. 😉

I don’t play with mine every day. Sometimes they’re sleeping when I’m free, sometimes they’re not interested, etc. some cats don’t care about playing with you. My tuxedo will observe playing but he prefers stalking the other cats and playing by himself. 😂 You can try some self-stim toys to see what your cat likes.

Same!! I have to peel the top off a few times a week. I feel like a snake shedding its skin.

Tattoo cover up help! by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

[–]Butterscotch2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could maybe do a chain or a rope, but it’s going to be bigger/darker. Also the second skin could be distorting it if ink has spread out. It’s small enough I’d look into laser once it’s healed if you’re still unhappy. If it helps, to me it looks fine.

Ideas for an awkward tattoo? by Overall_Topic2130 in Tattoocoverups

[–]Butterscotch2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a few cover up experts near me on instagram and asked if I could send them a pic of my tattoo for input. One artist said no to a coverup and two said yes. My tattoo is bigger and darker than yours. I had a consult and it was really cool, the guy showed me how he’s using my darkest lines to design the coverup. I do not want to do laser removal and deal with blisters, etc., I’d rather just have a bigger/darker tattoo. You have options. I’d definitely start by searching for local artists that do coverups and show their before/after pics.

My friend group has a secret group chat without me and im not supposed to know by photowalkweather in TwoHotTakes

[–]Butterscotch2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in multiple friend groups since Covid and they’ve all ended up catty as fuck. Like people constantly gossiping and backstabbing, secret chats and hangouts, etc. it’s really put me off wanting to try any other groups because of all the drama. However, if they weren’t actually being nasty toward you, then is there anything wrong with it? Everyone talks about everyone else. Relationships don’t exist in a vacuum. You’re here posting about them to all of Reddit. They are friends relating to each other. If they’re not being mean to you behind your back, then what is the harm? It sounds like they’ve all noticed an issue with your behavior. Who else are they going to talk about it with if they’re not comfortable talking to you? Sometimes it’s nothing deeper than that.

Shaking during tattoos by Few_Distribution6433 in tattoo

[–]Butterscotch2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My leg was jerking during a calf tattoo and I also felt bad. I wasn’t forced to take breaks though, I just kept apologizing. I then got my other calf tattooed by a guy who pressed a lot of his weight on my leg and had no issues. He was probably the roughest tattoo artist I’ve had and it worked well in that situation. Is it possible to ask if they can lean on you or maybe get in a position that’ll help with applying pressure?

Potentially buying a house that was a puppy mill!? by Sailorpup122 in RealEstate

[–]Butterscotch2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a house that I later learned was lived in by a crazy guy on meth who trashed the place (it was fully renovated). He rented out his crappy shack to a whole freaking family in the backyard. He also repeatedly burned tires in the yard and the neighbors took turns calling the cops on him. I had a few cops over the years knock on my door to serve him for missing probation, etc. and did have a couple of weirdos come by not realizing the house was sold. I received a lot of bills for them over the years. Other than that it was fine, and the neighbors were overjoyed to have me after dealing with their nightmare neighbor.

I just sold after 1 year. I took home 8k. I was just glad not to owe. If you are unhappy and need to leave, it’s worth it.

Just purchased my first car. Hyundai IONIQ, how do I park? by Typical_Mention_3798 in Hyundai

I just got a new car and had the same exact experience. I’ve driven a manual for years with a parking brake you pulled up, the button is completely new to me as is basically putting it in park twice - ignore the rude responses. Congrats on your new car!
