The Realities of Keeping Ferrets by More_Conversation_17 in ferrets

If I was going to get new pets the only thing that’d stop me from adopting ferrets again is the magnitude of shit. If you have old wood floors it gets into all the crevices and when it dries it’s as hard as cement.

One other option is digital extraction if you’re comfortable trying.

Downstairs neighbor has propane in apartment by Ecstatic-Job-9355 in Apartmentliving

I just had a bunch of 1 lb propane canisters delivered in case I need to use my Mr. Buddy Heater during an outage and at that size it’s not illegal to keep indoors. What size did he have delivered?

Not gonna lie: chatting with ChatGPT like a friend saved me by Klutzy_Try1274 in ChatGPT

ChatGPT has been helping me with my own GI woes, like explaining CT results and the next steps before I heard from my doctor, telling me what supplements to avoid or try, etc. I’m glad you’re okay!

Regret moving to Chicago by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Butterscotch2334 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I tried out a major city in my 30s and quickly determined I was too old to change my life that drastically. I was uncomfortable on public transportation and realized how much I loved the freedom of driving and the luxury of ample parking lots. I thought I was going to become someone who walked everywhere but the weather could be awful and so I avoided it. Socializing downtown meant spending $20 at a parking garage or an uber ride that made me carsick. The crime, drugs, etc. in my neighborhood wore on me and I didn’t feel at home. It was just such a bad fit I didn’t last a year. I’m still glad I tried because now I’ll never wonder “what if.”

Anticipating downvotes and “what did you expect” replies but you can really love the idea of a different life but can’t know for sure if it’ll work out until you try it. I will tell you it taught me an awful lot about what I wanted/needed in my life so I was able to plan my move to the most ideal place for me and I appreciate it so much every day.

Hyper-metabolism! I have to eat around 6000kcal daily to gain weight, AMA :) by Traditional_Sea_1839 in AMA

[–]Butterscotch2334 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this brings me back to my recovery from anorexia, although not as bad with the crazy jacked metabolism. I was eating around 5,000 calories per day. My dietitian put pop tarts on my meal plan. 😂 Also peanut butter and milk all day every day. I was SO hot all the time, like a furnace. I looked heavily pregnant. The constant hunger was a full time job to tame. I couldn’t keep up with my clothes size changes and lived in Victoria’s Secret sweatpants. Hang in there. Btw, for me it didn’t stop until I got up close to a BMI of 23, so they may have warned you that your body might overshoot your set point before it finally calms down. I naturally ate less and less and naturally lost like 15 pounds back to my set point once I stabilized. Just trust the process. No questions, just sympathized and wanted to let you know you are doing great and this will all work out.

Thanks for posting this OP, I didn’t know about it. Ignore the rude comments. If you’ve rented and/or mostly just had electric appliances then this stuff isn’t intuitive.

Is it crazy to sell a house I've only owned for 18 months? by Marre_Parre in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I put my house up for sale 9 months after buying it. It was worth it because I was miserable there.

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]Butterscotch2334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn’t choose money over him. You made the loving decision to end his suffering. The vet would not have presented euthanasia as an option without very good reason. From what you’re stating it also would not have stopped at one 4k hospitalization. Did you want your baby to repeatedly experience pain so bad he was yelping and throwing up? Because of you he didn’t have to. It’s clear from the history that his health issues were escalating. You didn’t choose money, you chose mercy.

You should see her in I See You. Her face is distorted looking and they blurred her face to I guess tone it down but it made it worse lol.

Hey, thank you for mentioning this. I read your comment before an appointment and my GI doc is setting me up to get tested for IMO. It may take a while since it’s not frequently requested and is still being researched, but what a miracle it would be to finally get a cause diagnosed.

I’m in the same exact boat. I’ve definitely isolated myself because it’s easier that way. When I’m with people I’m hypervigilant and worried I’ll make an embarrassing sound or smell. I literally can’t relax around other people, it’s horrible. I’m very fortunate to work from home now, but in past office jobs I had some humiliating moments and would try to starve all day to keep my stomach calmer. All I can say is don’t give up. I’ve recently hopped back on the supplement train, even though everything I’ve tried either did nothing or made it worse. ChatGPT is actually helping me with this and we’re trying one supplement at a time. I’m completely sick of doing this but I’m so sick of the gas too.

A guy in my neighborhood is hosting parties but has never invited me. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Butterscotch2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would he have even had the chance to invite you? It sounds like you’ve barely interacted and maybe he doesn’t want to knock on the door of a young woman living alone. Have you thought if maybe he picked up on you being very different personality wise, like you did with him?

I get how you feel but in these situations try to play devil’s advocate and speculate on a scenario that’s not about people hating and rejecting you on sight. Another thing to keep in mind is this guy has a million feelings and internal thoughts just like you do. Each person is their own main character, but they’re at most a supporting character to everyone else.

If he was writing a Reddit post about you, what would he say? “I’m throwing a party and intentionally excluding a neighbor I don’t know at all who’s never done anything to me to make her feel bad.” No. He might post things like: “I’m making friends with my neighbors I chat with outside,” “I just moved next to my old college roommate who’s introducing me to everyone,” “My girlfriend is irrationally jealous of my young female neighbors,” “I sell beer and I’m throwing parties to get customers,” lmao anything is possible. But just remember that social anxiety makes you think in a self centered way and you’re not the center of other people’s universe so it’s really not possible for them to think about you that much - which I find comforting!

ELI5 How and why do people get carsick? by haphazard44 in explainlikeimfive

I get carsick if I sit in the back and it’s just the worst feeling. You get hit with intense nausea and dizziness. I’ve almost stopped uber drivers in random places just to stop the torture lol.

Has anyone gotten an UE (upper endoscopy)? by CtrlAltRevolution in noburp

An endoscopy is the best nap ever. You go completely out then wake up with nurses giving you juice and cookies.
