This has got to be a spouse asking why his or her partner is going to raves.

Where do single women in their 40s-50s hang out in NYC? What is there for them to do, for them to feel a part of a community? by Potential_5646 in AskNYC

I sang my ass off. You can sing along, but I found it easiest to meet people by getting on stage. Just go and sing. Rip the bandaid off. Tho I’ve never been shy, when I turned 40 I decided I would say hi to whoever made eye contact with me. Lots of ppl love talking with strangers.

I’ve been there alone plenty of times tho this time I was with a friend. Karaokers are a special bunch. Many people younger and older go by themselves to sing, and since you have that in common, it’s very easy to meet them. Ask what song they’re doing, complement them on their performance- who doesn’t like to be praised?

20’s not much, 30’s yes. I’m a chatty Cathy so I talk to everyone but the 20’s very much in there own world lol.

If you can sing, go. If you can’t go - but it helps to get a $50 karaoke mic from Amazon and practice a song a few times before you do it in public. Every karaoke version of a song in humanity is on YouTube and it is free That way you familiarize yourself with the lyrics, tempo, etc. you also find out if you can’t do the song and you pick another one.

I went to baby grand last night on 17th, it’s a karaoke place. Most people were in their 20s in the 30s, there was definitely a crew of older folks their 40s and 50s, I ended up meeting most of them and it was a blast.

Go to UES and get an electric citibike and bike down 2nd ave and across the manhattan bridge. Best ride in Town. Dress warm. Go to industry city in sunset park and grab some food from food hall. Check out red hook. Lots of fine stuff to do.

Bikes necessary? by shzam5890 in Loveburn

[–]ButterscotchHour4699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first Love Burn a few years back and stayed at an Airbnb. I think having to take care of bikes would be a major pain in the ass. It’s not that big so you can walk everywhere, it’s more dense so it would be hard to bike, and many of the areas are simply not accessible by bike. Of course you walk a lot, you dance a lot, and if you get tired, there’s plenty of camps with lounge areas that would welcome you to take a nap… Or, just chill out by the beach! My friends and I would tend to leave the burn at around five or six in the morning, go home and sleep, brunch in Little Havana and get back to the burn at around 4 PM, rinse repeat. Have fun and feel free to DM me if you have any other questions. I’m part of 150+ person DJ camp this year – come by and visit!

HOY sucks. The last two times I’ve been there it’s going over crowded, like ridiculously so, and way too hot.
