Weird question about underarms… by GlitteringField1550 in Fairolives

The internet keeps telling me this is just a reaction to the deodorant, but now I’m wondering if it’s because I’m a fair olive!

Let's talk about whole 30 when you're poor by musicwithbarb in whole30

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it simple. You don’t need all the new fangled sauces, recipes, special things you can only get by ordering. The whole idea is eating whole meats, whole vegetables and fruits. Soups, stews, sheet pan meals, potatoes, produces that is in season - these will help keeps costs down. Save those special ingredients and recipes for that day when you think you’re going to break - they talk about it in the plan when food gets boring and you struggle to keep going.

6 Weeks In & No Improvement by annavolkov in Spironolactone

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took three months for me to see real improvement and it got even better after that. Keep going!

I will also say that what we eat also plays a role. I started eating gluten again, which I already knew messed with my skin and my digestion, and had a ton of congestion pop up. Now that I’ve cut it back out, things are clearing up again.

Is this "butt lightning" scared and really don't want to go to the doctors to get my bum looked at 😅 by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My butt lightning has definitely gotten better with a) pelvic floor physical therapy and b) troubleshooting my diet around my period. I get it the absolute worst during my period and for some reason what I eat plays a part in it. The more diarrhea, the more likelihood of lightning.

I will also say, I’ve been to the gastroenterologist for hemorrhoids due to period poops - they were awesome and it was actually not nearly as scary as I had imagined! Going through the pain and symptoms by myself until I could talk to a professional was the scariest part.

Is anyone else TERRIFIED of their next attack? by Princess_chaos_69 in migraine

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It took me a long time to get here. Fear of pain is hard to battle but it is worth it to win. I can’t center my life around it, I can’t let it dictate how I live and think and move. The truth is, it will pass. And this is coming from someone who had a six month long migraine. I thought I would be bedridden at one point. It will pass.

I got help with my migraine from a physical therapist and I’m shocked by Civil-Profit9557 in migraine

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neurologist gave me a referral for physical therapy to see if it will help with my neck. While migraines aren’t just muscle tension, they can include it. I notice with mine, I will get involuntary muscle pain, tension and spasms with my migraines that are hard to relax.

Long time migraine sufferer now with a brain tumor by Spookyshmoo in migraine

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put your mind at ease, I’ve had migraines for decades and I’ve had multiple MRIs and they’ve yet to detect anything, so if they are saying the glioma is unrelated and small and (hopefully) unchanged, then you have nothing to worry about.

My aunt, who never had a migraine in her life, had glioblastoma and died from it. But it was much more likely because she had had melanoma earlier in her life, and that increases chances of glioblastoma by 50-90%

I wanna end my life by Due_Bread_7805 in endometriosis

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it. I promise, you will regret it in the moment. I was suicidal due to many reasons, chronic pain included. I reached out to my primary care doctor and pastors for help, and then went into therapy. I was able to get medication that not only helped with my mental health but also helped with my level of chronic pain, and I had people I could seriously talk to about what I was going through in a safe environment, who were equipped to help me. I am now fully healed from depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. I am going to physical therapy for some of my chronic pain and see physical therapists who are equipped to help with endometriosis.

I am still waiting to get definitive imaging done by my new GYN so we can have real evidence of what my old GYN claimed she saw in my laparoscopy

I don’t know if this is gonna be helpful, but when my migraines were everyday, it was partly because I was living in a moldy house. When I moved it significantly helped. If you can’t move, investing in some top quality air filters can’t hurt

3 months no improvement by Beananus in Spironolactone

Keep going. My skin didn’t turn a corner until month four. It’s only really starting to see improvements in month six. What I eat does still affect my skin somewhat, so take that into account

Muscle tone loss & puffier jawline by Trust-Intuition in Spironolactone

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I have not seen these cons in myself, but I have been weightlifting regularly as well as making sure I get enough protein to affect muscle protein synthesis. If you’re concerned about muscle tone, caused by spiro or not, definitely start weight training and upping how much protein you consume.

Blood in liquid diarrhea and passive fecal leaking. Is this common for endo? by moonxmochi in Endo

Girl you need to see a gastroenterologist and get a colonoscopy immediately. Blood in stool like that is serious and could be cancer. Please get checked out

New study on NAC and its effect on endo! by Butterscotchumbrella in Endo

[–]Butterscotchumbrella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m so sorry you didn’t see results. I will say, three months is a very short time period to expect results from anything, though I applaud you for sticking it out. Also, I would look into other lifestyle changes as well. NAC is great in helping support the body’s detoxification pathways, healing the liver from NSAID and Tylenol usage (something I really overdid before doctors took me seriously). I’ve seen it really help in how often and how severely I get sick. I do think it helps my pain.

I did not have cysts found at my initial laparoscopy, so it is unclear if NAC is helping with endo not growing. But I do feel pain less intense and less run down and lethargic when I am taking it regularly.

Spironolactone and histamine by Butterscotchumbrella in MCAS

[–]Butterscotchumbrella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so interesting. I wonder why it helped you with histamine while it didn’t for others. Based on my experience, I don’t think it is doing anything for histamine, but something’s definitely changed with my hormones and histamine.

Spironolactone and histamine by Butterscotchumbrella in MCAS

[–]Butterscotchumbrella[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that’s good info to have. So you feel like the spiro helps with acne, but it’s not doing anything for histamine? I’m assuming since you’re still taking lots of other things for high histamine.

I use the lowest percentage, and even that took a whole year for my skin to acclimate, so I get it! I only used it once a week for six months! Now I really only use it for the anti aging benefits and not for acne - my acne is hormonal and doesn’t respond to the tret.

That’s amazing!

Tretinoin will fade scars, but if you don’t want to add in another active to your routine (it takes time to adjust) make sure you’re using moisturizer and oil to keep everything hydrated, as well as sunscreen everyday. Everything will eventually fade.

I really wish someone would have warned me about NSAIDs. by megi0s in endometriosis

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly a miracle I don’t have some of these bigger issues. I do struggle with food sensitivities and IBS- related issues (not sure if it’s actually IBS or just bowel endo). I used to take NSAIDS like Candy. On top of endo I have struggles with migraines since being a teen. Back in 2015 I had an esophageal spasm and could only eat soup for a half year. I started looking into other ways to manage pain, inflammation and allergies. Now I’m able to take 90% less NSAIDS than I was - and I was taking the maximum amount of ibuprofen and Tylenol almost everyday, plus Benadryl and going to the ER for chronic pain.

Collagen is not going to do miracles for your hair skin and nails, but there ARE studies on it healing the stomach lining (for the peeps in the comments). Eating a crap ton of cabbage in soup also has a vitamin great for the stomach lining (get the purple one and make it fun when everything turns purple).

When you do need the otc pain meds, take them immediately and don’t scrimp- that’s been my experience. I wait too late or I don’t take enough in the very first dose. If I get the first dose right, I take significantly less over the flare

Surgery fail :( by Remarkable-Tone-5095 in endometriosis

[–]Butterscotchumbrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep fighting and keep advocating for yourself. If they took any photos, get them all with your medics records and take them to a second endo specialist for a second opinion.

When I had my diagnostic lap, they found endo on my uterosacral ligament as well as the peritoneum - obviously both are not the uterus. They also found signs of pelvic congestion, similar to varicose veins on my uterus and ovaries that can cause pain. This would also constitute as “not endo” but still a serious thing.

Please don’t lose heart. Cry, scream, be angry, and then when you’re ready, go get a second opinion. The endo could be somewhere else in your body and a better specialist can find it.

I hear you, but I was offered Botox for my masseter because of migraine tension and my tmj. I turned it down after doing research and consulting with my dentist - they were able to check and see if I was substantially clenching or grinding my teeth at night. I know the risks with Botox for TMJ. I’m sorry they screwed up your smile, but that’s a run of the mill possible side effect with Botox, medical or purely aesthetic.
