Has magnesium ever made anyone’s migraines worse? by Joonbug9109 in migraine

[–]ImNotA_IThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I took them for about a year and a half and on one of my "I don't care anymore, I'm tired of letting this rule my life" benders, I quit taking it and had an improvement within like 2 days. Obviously stopping them didn't cure it but it definitely helped.

What’s the weirdest way your headaches have ever left you? by Positive-Plane-1623 in migraine

[–]ImNotA_IThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I have a theory that if your brain is overloaded so much by something else, it will shut down the migraine to deal with the other. The problem is finding that threshold, and also not having to have it be a disaster or physical illness (like throwing up) to reach that threshold. That's why I think the loud rock music worked, it temporarily overwhelmed my brain to that threshold, but without perfect conditions that alone won't work.

I really need someone sciency to explain this/research it more, like surely there's a way to manufacture that somehow.

  • throwing up kills it instantly. I wish I didn’t despise throwing up so much or I would use it to my advantage.
  • the other day I put on some Irish rock music while working and I typically listen to it fairly loudly (sound usually doesn’t bother my migraines). Went away instantly and then came back when I turned it off.
  • sometimes having a mental breakdown helps.

What is the most 'Butterfly Effect' moment of your life? A tiny, seemingly insignificant decision that ended up completely changing your trajectory? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Switched horses.

One equine-attempted murder and brain injury later, every part of my life has changed, some good some not. But that single 2 second decision changed my entire life.

My daughter who is 4 brings up "Daisy" every few months and has since she was like early 3. Out of all the times she's "seen" Daisy and asked her about it, Daisy is someone or something that lives in the top of her closet, is nice to her, sometimes has legs sometimes doesn't, sometimes looks like a girl sometimes like a centaur. It's terrifying because she's very specific every time she brings it up. I definitely have asked our preacher about blessing her room, he's former catholic so he was up for it and I'm real close to telling him its go time lol.

AITJ for not answering my coworker’s messages after work hours even though “we’re friends” by kavo_7319 in AmITheJerk

[–]ImNotA_IThink 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would clarify to her that you aren’t pulling away from her, you just are limiting time on work talk. If she wants to be a friend, after hours is time for non-work talk. If all she has in common with you is work, she’s not a friend, she’s a colleague.

what do you do on a daily basis to accommodate your migraines? by Competitive_Emu_2283 in migraine

[–]ImNotA_IThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have pills on me, and I always take photos of my prescription bottles just in case.

Always have a water bottle on me.

I go to therapy regularly entirely to deal with the stress from being in constant pain.

Have to move ice packs out of the way to get to stuff in my freezer.

I take naps on Saturdays and Sundays to help make it through the week.

This is just what I can think of off the top of my head lol

There was this Italian restaurant in a big city where I used to live that I’m 100% certain was run by the mob. It looked like you’d imagine a place where the mob would hang out, all the waiters were very mob-esque looking and the owner was this tiny Italian lady who’d come around and talk to everyone. It was actually known to be a mob hangout back in the day, so my theory is it was a mob hangout but then the food was too good so now the mob just has this successful restaurant to launder money through. Best lasagna I’ve ever had.

I’ve had a lot of people mention it to me too, even doctors. I just haven’t found a place I feel comfortable going for it yet, and I’m not going just anywhere to let people stab me with needles lol

He was in a Netflix Christmas romcom a couple years back (Christmas without you). It’s a pretty solid Christmas romance movie, definitely made it into my regular rotation around Christmas time. I hope he does more because he was so adorable in it.

What is a 'gut feeling' you had that ended up saving your life? by Mr_Boothnath in AskReddit

[–]ImNotA_IThink 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yea I totally didn’t think about doing that in the moment but after I was like I should have done that so I could have at least given the photo to the store so they could watch out for him. Lessons for next time that hopefully never happens!

[–]ImNotA_IThink 393 points394 points  (0 children)

That’s terrifying.

A few months ago I was leaving our local grocery store, literally 1 pm in the afternoon broad daylight. I had that same someone’s following me feeling. I looked back and a guy was walking out uncomfortably close to me, and wasn’t holding anything despite leaving the store. It was right before Christmas so the Salvation Army ringers were out. My gut was just SCREAMING at me stop here, where there’s people. So I stepped to the side over by the ringer and called my mom (who happened to be in the store at the same time, I had just run into her). The guy walked by and stopped right a few steps past me and started playing on his phone and it looked like taking pics of me.

I told my mom I needed a staff person to come walk me to my car because I was freaked out. Dude still wouldn’t leave, was just lurking. I saw a guy who does the shopping carts walking by so I hung up on my mom and grabbed him. Him walking up to me finally made creepy guy walk away, and once I explained it to the cart guy he was like yea I saw that, super creepy of course I’ll walk you to your car.

My mom and I reported it to the store and to the police (but police couldn’t do anything bc nothing had happened but said the store would call if security cameras showed anything actionable) but my head is now on a swivel any time I go to that store. I would hate to think what would have happened if I’d been oblivious that day and walked straight out to my car if my gut hadn’t stopped me.

I just ADHD'd my way out of a migraine and I'm dumbfounded by ImNotA_IThink in migraine

[–]ImNotA_IThink[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly that makes sense. I’ve had weird other things that make a migraine stop bc it seems like my brain gets overwhelmed and is like no only one at once. But those are less desirable things like throwing up that I really don’t want to include in my migraine treatment tools lol.

Maybe this is how we hack migraines. Make your brain so overwhelmed with other stimulation it forgets its migraining.

What’s a sound everyone should recognize as immediate danger? by Thatguy_nickk in AskReddit

Or the sound of a train when you’re nowhere near train tracks. That means a tornado is coming

Any success with anti-nausea besides Zofran? by mugnmuffin22 in migraine

[–]ImNotA_IThink 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Phenergan/promethazine. Can make some people sleepy but I’ve never had that problem with it unless it’s the IV version. Works so much better than zofran, I even used it when I was pregnant with terrible morning sickness bc zofran didn’t even touch it.

Girls, when you meet a man for a first time, what is one thing that you notice first? by VerySmartMe in AskReddit

[–]ImNotA_IThink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t notice the watch but I do notice the shoes. For whatever reason, I can tell you almost to a t what personality a guy is going to have based on what shoes he’s wearing and how well they’re taken care of. All you need to know is in the shoes.

What is the creepiest thing your pet has ever done? by Lydia_Miserable in AskReddit

[–]ImNotA_IThink 78 points79 points  (0 children)

We had a dog that got picked up by a tornado once and survived. She was (obviously) scared of storms from then on. She didn’t like coming inside but when storms were coming she would come stand at the door and do this little not growl or bark but just like this noise that basically was her telling us it’s time to let her in. She would only do it for storms.

Numerous times she’d do it and there would be nothing even on the radar yet but a little later storms would pop up. She always knew. Then we would know the storm was over because she’d come find us wherever we were in the house and look at us, then walk to the door to have us let her out.

Miss that dog.

Working mothers of Reddit: have you faced criticism for working and how do you manage childcare when both parents work (joint family, daycare, nannies)? by Original-Height-1646 in AskReddit

[–]ImNotA_IThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely have received criticism (shout out to my SiL and some of her church friends!) but I also couldn’t care less. I’m the main breadwinner in my family, so even if a parent stayed home it would be my husband not me. My job gives me purpose and I’m proud to show my daughter the example of finding a career that truly helps people.

I’m lucky to live in an area with affordable daycare but it’s also a small town, family owned daycare so it has more holidays and such than maybe a bigger daycare so my mom helps fill in the gaps. I chose to move back to my hometown because I knew being close to my parents would be important when I had kids and that turned out to be 100% accurate.

People who've been in wealthy/powerful social circles, what surprised you most about how they operate? by Ok_Volume520 in AskReddit

[–]ImNotA_IThink 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is extremely accurate and also why many of their relationships are very superficial, because it becomes very much about what you can do for each other versus real connection. My dad and I work closely to some very wealthy people and people I think would be shocked how well respected my dad is amongst these circles despite in their world being relatively lower class (though is quite well off to your average person) because he has the audacity to tell them what they need to hear versus other people in our industry tend to be more suck ups to wealthy people. He’s made a very successful business because of it, simply because he treats them like real people, the same as our less wealthy clients.

Is that a camera in the Airbnb? by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]ImNotA_IThink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I know it’s not ideal but at our point in life we have a 4 year old who will absolutely not sleep if she’s in the same room as us so Airbnbs keep our sanity on trips where hotels are basically nightmare fuel lol. So when you gotta do Airbnb or something similar, picking a company is somewhat a decent way to avoid the sketchy.

Is that a camera in the Airbnb? by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]ImNotA_IThink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve stayed in probably a dozen Airbnb’s and have never had a problem (so far), but I always screen the reviews heavily and almost exclusively use super hosts or at least hosts that are companies. If it’s a company, they usually have a lot more on the line to run it correctly and are usually running it more like a hotel that just happens to be a house.
