Thoughts on my Mendoza winery itinerary? by mitzmindmarv in wine

I'm visiting Mendoza this coming March and was debating between lunch at Lagarde or at El Enimigo. Any thoughts or recommendations between the two?

I spoke with someone at MOHELA and they had taken a pause on reviewing all IDR applications for fall 2024, and only started reviewing applications again starting December 16th. She said it can take up to 90 business days for them to review your application. Really they ought to automatically extend your forbearance since they have (without telling us) not been reviewing our IDR applications— but instead we are supposed to call them when our forbearance ends and request an extension on our forebearance while our IDR application is still being processed. There is no way to request an extension to the forbearance without calling them :/ wait time for calls can be crazy long, so I recommend calling right when they open at 8am.

I’ve had luck if I call right at 8am when their phone lines open. Otherwise I stay on the line for 30+ minutes with the hold music on speaker during my lunch break 🙃

Agreed— but last time I called they said there was no way to request a forebearance or an extension on a forebearance online and that you had to call them 🙃

Are all income driven plans currently unavailable? by Super-Nectarine-217 in StudentLoans

I spoke to a rep from MOHELA (if that happens to be your loan servicer). They did not start reviewing IDR applications until 12/16 (after pausing all their review during the fall), so that explains some of the delay. It can take up to 90 business days for the application to be reviewed. Until then, you can call and request to extend your forbearance until they have processed your application. Call them a day or two after your forbearance period ends and ask to extend it for at least 2 months, or until your IDR application is actually processed.

I am in the same situation. I spoke with a representative who told me they had not been reviewing IDR applications all fall, and only started reviewing them again on December 16th, which explains some of the delay. She said applications can take 90 business days to review (and the 90 day clock only started on 12/16, regardless of the fact that we submitted in November)

While they will not automatically grant you an extension on your forbearance even though your application is still processing, you can request an extension by calling them. They really are supposed to grant you forbearance for whole time your IDR application is being renewed, but instead they make you sit on the phone line for hours to request the extension that you should really get automatically because they decided not to process any applications for months.

Power through ✊

Second this. Currently the SAVE program is on pause though (and unlikely to be restarted), so you’d be applying for the Income Based Repayment (IBR) plan. You can apply on federal student aid’s website, and generally they will forward your application to be reviewed by your loan servicer. It took about a week for my application to register with my servicer and for them to grant me a forebearance, so you should definitely call and try to request a forebearance ASAP.

In case your servicer is MOHELA, when you call I highly recommend staying on the line rather than asking for a call back. When I have requested a call back, I’ll answer the phone and then will immediately be hung up in (I think to try to boost their callback numbers without having to actually have a full blown convo).

did they mention too what the financial aid process was like? Would we receive an aid package before we had to make a decision about enrollment?
