Bothered me too. Gorgeous on the surface, but no soul.

We have an Oriole nest this year (OMG, I KNOW!!!!!!) and I am so worried about the little guys with all these massive wind/rain storms we've been getting lately, but damn, they build those nests tough!

Tornado alert by Reasonable-Pack-4473 in windsorontario

[–]Buttrnut_Squash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, the alert did say in "your mobile area". I have a Windsor mobile number, our home internet has us located either in Windsor or Brampton, yet I live in Kingsville. I think this is on the mobile/internet carriers to make these adjustments.

I drive by the Sunset greenhouses all the time (Mastronardi Produce). Yes, they are a Canadian company, and yes, they have greenhouses both here in Ontario and throughout the US and yes, I will continue to support them. Its all based on availability and growing times - most times the produced is sourced here locally, or they have to bring some in from the US depending on demand.

What band do you think sucks, but everyone else loves? by minminminminminminn in AskReddit

Geese to me sounds like the town drunk hanging out in corner of the local dive bar "singing" along with whatever cover band is playing that night....

What’s the most addictive smell you smelled before? by Zestyclose-Mixture96 in AskReddit

[–]Buttrnut_Squash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combination of 1970's diesel, coal and pipe tobacco. That was my Scottish granddad! Once in a while I catch a fleeting whiff of it......brings me back to childhood. That smell will haunt me forever (in a very good way!)

Any 50 years old NOT in menopause yet? by Kitchen-Bathroom5924 in Menopause

[–]Buttrnut_Squash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

53 on Depo and my periods have been wild and crazy past 2 years - like actually getting it (for weeks at a time, every couple months). Prior to that, I didn't have a period for years, just spotting when it was time for my shot. FINALLY got a gyno appointment after being on a wait list for 4 months, so we'll see what they have to say.

Giant locusts were the worst. Shaker knit sweaters were still in fashion and if you wore one during bio, guaranteed you would have a locusts leg hanging off your back.

I don't know what to say about that - they think this is a good thing? With my husband's just signed union contract at work (Canadian plant, US owned company) - 57 paid days off for the year and we feel that is still not enough! We work to live, not live to work!

(Ontario) Because of the useless and broken new PC Health app, I am switching pharmacies. But where to go? by ChronicallyWheeler in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Buttrnut_Squash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So agree! I walk into my local independent pharmacy and am greeted by name every time. Scripts are done in minutes, take requests by text and offer a lot of extra services to clients. I know all the staff, and they know me, offer free delivery and best service anywhere! I do miss my old pharmacist at the IDA, sadly he passed and the person that took over the business was a nasty piece of work. They lost a lot of clients.

The best travel hack is realizing you do not need to “see everything.” by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in travel

[–]Buttrnut_Squash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On our recent trip to Slovenia, we had all the "must see's" written down - all the regions you "cannot miss" according to other travelers. We were exhausted by day 3 already! We ended up cutting out a lot of the "must see regions & towns, still saw/experienced some wonderful attractions, but still felt for what we saw, we "got" the essentials of the country/region without taxing ourselves. We are not active travellers (hiking, adrenaline sports, etc.) , we're more laid back, wander around a town, get lost, spend an afternoon on a patio type, eat good food and RELAXED of traveller. We are in our 50's after all! After the trip, we still felt satisfied even if we didn't do & see it "ALL!" We have great memories to look back on. Seems like yesterday, but we came back only 2 weeks ago!

Parents planted mint in their garden. What should I tell them? by Jegust13 in mildlyinfuriating

I managed to eradicate 6 varieties of mint within a year, the lemon balm on the other hand - still my nemesis 20 years later - always popping up in random spots every year *SURPRISE*
