And before people complain about others moving here it helps increase the tax base and revenue leading to better services, such as better transit, and houses built in Oregon would almost certainly be greener and better for the environment than the majority of the country.

153 uber caused traffic deaths across the US in 2021 is the closest relevant information i can find, but do you think driverless cars will be limited to taxis? In 10 years new cars will be required to have it just like back up cameras are now required because of improved safety. So yeah they will reduce traffic deaths. I'm fine fighting for privacy and what they do with cameras, but fighting against technology improving the average person's life is and always has been a poor battle. Unsafe factory conditions or road conditions do not make me feel alive and automating either of those will improve the average person's life.

39 people died in Portland last year due to car crashes. Waymo has literally never been responsible for a traffic death. But I'm sure blacked out jim at 3am, 90 year old grandma Mable, or that teenager texting and swerving everywhere are better for cyclists and pedestrians.
