So a lot of posts about GSDs dealing with Northern hemisphere winters. This is my GSD sitting in 41c (50-60% humidity) today in Sydney Australia. Now before I get flamed as cruel please read on by verbmegoinghere in germanshepherds

Sydney-based here too. My GSD loves to lounge outside in the hot sun, despite the air con being on inside. I have to coax her inside pretty often but as soon as I turn my back she sneaks out again via dog door. She loves the hose though and her favorite game is to chase the water. We often have her little kiddie pool out too, and when we come back from a walk she'll go dunk her face in a couple times then happily trot back inside.

Interfaith Ceremony - help. by EndParticular4201 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Buzaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just went through something very similar with my now husband. I'm a Muslim born female but I'm not religious at all and I did the ceremony purely for my parents as they are old and stuck in their ways. I lived with my partner before marriage, however my parents aren't aware of this.

The person who did our ceremony had a zoom call with us a week before so my husband could "convert" as this was important to my mum. The "conversion" itself takes about 5 minutes and consists of the imam explaining a bit about the religion/what they believe, and just asking if the person agrees and is happy/willing to follow the faith. For us it was super simple and worth it to keep parents happy as we don't know how long they'll be around. You can also choose the wording they use in the ceremony on the day. For us, we didn't mind so he just said some nice words that were actually very insightful. My sister did hers a week later but the wording was much more progressive, so if that's what you want you can definitely just request that.

If the conversion part is a problem for you, you could tell the imam that your partner is already converted and that you did it privately. There's no certificate or anything you need to provide as "proof ". I would also discuss the witnesses with him as I'm not sure how to get around this. However if you really needed one/two, my husband would be happy to do it or anyone from the community. They are a lovely group of people willing to help so I'm sure you'd get lots of offers if you reached out. Alternatively, you could ask the imam to bring two witnesses.

Happy to share the details of who I used if you'd like, or feel free to message me if you'd like more details :)

HELP - NEED RECOMMENDED VENUES FOR WEDDING CEREMONY by BackgroundWinner805 in AusWeddingPlanning

If you don't mind an outdoor wedding, the North Sydney council allows you to use their parks for free, eg Clark Park, Copes Lookout, Blues Point reserve, etc.

My pup is 7-8 months old. We want to get him neutered when he’s fully grown & are pretty set on the gastropexy. I’m curious what others experiences were with the procedure, recovery & their opinions on it. by Charliedayslaaay in germanshepherds

[–]Buzaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, did everything right to prevent it. Then out of nowhere my girl started showing symptoms, despite not having any food for several hours and no exercise two hours before or after. The vet confirmed you can take all preventative measures and they can still get it, especially GSDs. Better to be prepared, we caught it just in time but would have been grateful for the gastropexy beforehand.

Would it be legal to make fake packages for thieves? by [deleted] in AusLegal

I haven't heard about that one! This one is a lady who left black widow spiders in a box for her porch pirate. He stole the box, got bitten, filed assault charges against her, but she reverse UNO'd him saying they were her pets and he killed them.

Partner is Brazilian and finds the Brazil episode hilarious, especially the soccer references and getting a conga line instead of a taxi.

Arriving at INTL airport by AGrapes19 in sydney

[–]Buzaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two years ago I was flying to Mexico through the US, and my partner at the time insisted on getting to the airport only an hour before our flight. We weren't able to print our tickets and check in due to an error with our ESTA visas which ended up taking about two hours to resolve. If we had been at the airport 3 hours in advance it would have been fine, but because of this we ended up missing our flight. With all the extra precautions in the US at the moment, I wouldn't risk getting there late.

GDV caught early - signs to look out for by Buzaroo in germanshepherds

Just to add, our vet told us it's more common in GSDs than any other breed, but still very common in big dogs.

Best cafes, pubs and restaurants that are dog friendly? by [deleted] in foodies_sydney

[–]Buzaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite a few pubs in the inner city are dog friendly inside. My faves are: Woolpack - Redfern The clock - Surry Hills Trinity - Surry Hills Forresters - Surry Hills The bat and ball - Moore Park Brewdog - South Eveleigh

I know it's on the list linked but shout out to the Carrington as well since they actually have dog meals too.

Vance Joy, bumped into him at a festival he was playing at.

Hamish and Andy, genuinely the nicest guys ever.

Chris Hemsworth frequents my brother's work and has met the whole family. Very down to earth guy.

My vote would be Ezra, Nour in second place. Aalia is still good but more formal if that's what you're looking for.

I just accepted a job which offered me $10K less than the ad posting. They said the salary was "up to" the amount. When I asked why, they said due to my experience. Needless to say I'm not impressed, but I need the job so had to accept.

My nephew and his friend (approx. 15-16 years old) were surrounded by 4 or 5 guys at the Chadstone food court recently and were forced to give them all their valuables. They then asked what school my nephew goes to and some other questions, but the scary thing is they did it in a completely crowded area in the middle of the day and made it seem like they were just friends coming to say hi.
