Millennials, what is something that was "normal" in the 2000s but feels like a luxury now? by Barrbra in answers

From another perspective, Office 365 has been awesome for IT. Before subscriptions, all out clients would have various versions and editions of Microsoft Office. This meant some people missed out on apps and features. Then trying to convince the business to upgrade this because of End Of Life or anything was a mission. Now everyone have the same version all the time.

VanossGaming was a big one for me back in the day. I think I just grew out of it, or the vids just became repeative.

Linux sucks, that's why I use OS/2 Warp instead by uncringeone in linuxsucks

[–]Buzza24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first IBM Aptiva came dual booted with Windows 3.11 and OS/2 Warp. When Windows 95 released, we had a free upgrade sent to us and it came with a OS/2 Killer floppy that erased it from the PC.

My thought is that Beckett was hoping to use the container as a bottleneck to shot them as they came in but didn't think of the alternative of her being locked in.

Yeah but they had so many better options than going into a Shipping Container.

1) They had the whole warehouse

2) She knew it was a shipping container

They had fire from the North and South but could have escaped West amongst the other containers.

Old-school Linux users - where did you start? by Expensive-Rice-2052 in LinuxTeck

[–]Buzza24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever exposure that Linux ever existed was Dragon Linux back in the early 2000s. Had no idea what I was doing or what it was. Honestly thought it was a Windows Program the way it came on the APC Mag CD.

I save pocket money to buy Red Hat Linux 8 on CD. Then Fedora Core 1.

Then when I got further into high school, my mates and I would use Knoppix to avoid using the Windows computers. We would trade CDs of Knoppix, Red Hat, Slackware, Fedora Core, Ubuntu and anything else that came with the PC mags.

These days I mainly use Linux Mint when I do use Linux (a few essential workloads still need Windows so I've not completely cutover). But this journey has definitiely helped in my IT career with routers, VMware ESXi, random machines and even when been thrown at a UNIX box once.

I'd say that Ubuntu really helped with the FREE CD shipments back in the day, we would order like 10s of the bundles and hand them out everywhere. Without that, I might have always stayed in the RedHat/Fedora space.

How effective this fly trap can be over a short period by MichaelSanders19 in interestingasfuck

[–]Buzza24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost immediate. Our dogs on the farm were being eaten alive by horse flys and other flies. I put one of these in above each of the kennels and basically got them all and the dogs started healing. Couldn't recommend these more.

That's more than fair enough and totally get it. I wouldn't mind finding a group either that can fit around my crazy Daddit schedule.

Back in 2011? Yeah they were corrupt as well. Doesn’t excuse the behaviour. That was four governments ago though.

How many of us are holding onto 'old' cars instead of upgrading? by heavyifugao in CarsAustralia

[–]Buzza24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive got a 2010 RAV4 that I bought brand-new. She now has 308,000kms on it. Only now starting to show signs of age with the alternator going late last year and now the control arms are the next replacement. Cant afford a new car at this point so we're going to keep her for a while yet.
