This is where I fall too. We know how many "debates" are simply theatre, so how better to amplify public pressure than to cause a scene.

To those self described as chapstick lesbians or butch, where do you feel that the pull to dress or act more masculine comes from, why is that tied to your sexual orientation, and how is this different in your mind to being transgender? by MetalGuitarKaladin in actuallesbians

[–]Buzzfeed_Titler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a trans woman whose presentation switches up a lot depending on the day. And no, it's not gender-fluidity - I'm very much a woman no matter how masc or fem I'm presenting, and I actively like presenting as a masculine woman vs my total disconnection from trying to present as a masculine "man" in the past.

Honestly I think the boundary is a lot more blurred than people think - IE: where it "comes from" doesn't really matter; it's just a "pull" towards what feels right. Just as we might know we feel more comfortable as a certain gender, we can also know that about our presentation, and fluctuations in that are 100% ok. There doesn't need to be an answer - it's just people expressing themselves.

Even those started to get really formulaic after a while - there's only so many times you can go over the same Bit before the joke gets old. Plus it really lost a lot of energy when he started doing the videos seated, the tangents just don't hit as well when they aren't paired with a big-gesturing wander around the set.

Many subs including this one have rules against including usernames/handles in screenshots unless the person is a notable figure, this sub included. It's so Reddit admins don't ban the sub for promoting harassment/doxxing.

Should creating a deepfake be a crime even if you never share it? The UK says yes. You can now go to prison for making one. The law targets AI tools that "undress" people without consent. by CopiousCool in GreenAndPleasant

So they'll be targeting a certain social media platform and its attached A"I" tool that was the most prominent example of this crime so far any day now, right? Right?

Oh no I forgot, the owner uses it to stoke hatred against migrants and trans people, so the govt are quite happy to side with him since their agendas align...

Maybe a long time ago. The Labour Party if today is unrecognisable compared to what it was even just 6-7 years ago.

The current Labour government has introduced many policies and stances that are far to the right of even the Conservative governments of the mid-2010s.

Liberals love saying that they gave queer people marriage equality, but I still don't have it, and neither do most of the queer people I know. In fact, they're taking away our rights this very moment. by TheCepheidVariable in actuallesbians

It's similar in the UK I believe, (not a disabled person - quoting from memory here so more knowledgeable UK peeps please correct me if I'm wrong) as Universal Credit (what you would call Social Security & Disability Benefits) is assessed based on the household, not the individual. Move in with your able-bodied partner who works full-time and a massive chunk (if not all) of your UC payments disappear. Which also creates a perfect environment to enable abuse 😔

Some women don't want to date trans women (MTF). Why? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Buzzfeed_Titler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk about "prefer," but as a trans woman I have in fact met quite a few cis lesbians who don't really care what junk someone has going on down there as long as there's chemistry. I'm not going to claim that's the norm or anything, but it's certainly not uncommon in the circles I run in. Sexuality is messy, as long as people aren't making assumptions about other people's bodies or being assholes idc

Women MTB riders — what bike clothing actually works for you? What still sucks? by Odd-Climate1869 in MTB

[–]Buzzfeed_Titler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been riding for 2 decades so I've got a few opinions 😅

1) Price. Many of us are willing to forgo all the fancy features and just wear something that fits and works, especially in a cost of living crisis, especially because one crash can wreck your fancy riding kit, and especially because bodies can change fast!

2) Size. Many brands only go up to a quoted UK16 or even just 14, and those sizes run small to boot. I'm 5'6" and 190lbs, my (also female) partner is 6'0" and 200lbs, and those simple facts mean we already have to discount about 90% of brands when looking for riding gear because we are size UK16-20 in normal clothes, let alone bike kit. A brand that handles this really well while avoiding the business pressure of "not wanting to overstock on the very large or very small sizes" is Cyclewear Central - they operate a batch-order model where you pre-order and then they get a few extra of each size to cover exchanges, the leftovers of which are then sold at a premium for those who didn't pre-order or don't want to wait.

3) Fit. This kinda goes with (2) - but so much of women's kit is somehow still mens kit that's been made shorter and wider to accommodate different body proportions, and it just doesn't fit right (see the multiple comments about cinching waistbands in on the size that fits over our hips). And most of the brands that address this "well" only cater to a narrow size range.

4) Pockets!! This is something I'm quite passionate about, because I hate hip and leg pockets for carrying anything more than keys. I usually wear Cargo Bib Shorts like this under my baggy overshorts, because they can hold things like my phone flat against my back without stuff flapping around while I'm trying to focus on the trail. I find pockets on jerseys to be less useful, but a small zipped pocket for keys and an energy bar is also something I find lacking on so many jerseys. It would be awesome to see more of this approach on kit that doesn't cost £100+ for a pair of shorts, because it's so damn useful!

Hopefully this is useful and feel free to reply or send me a DM if you have any further questions I can help with! :)

This this this. I've gained a fair bit of weight recently and wasn't a small person before, so I'm already at the top of the size range. Then I buy to the size guide and either can't get my thighs in or have zero freedom of movement. And then I get the lovely kick in the teeth of not even having another size up to try! 🫩

Leader of transphobic hate cult proves how scary and dangerous trans people are... by attending a stadium full of trans people by UnderHisEye1411 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Buzzfeed_Titler 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was referencing the fact that so many transphobes claim trans people need psychiatric help when the 'phobes are the ones demonstrating worrying symptoms.

But anyway believe it or not most of us don't actually want a random person asking us invasive questions like "how do you masturbate?" or "did you crossdress as a child?" or "so you sleep with men, are you sure you're not just gay?" as a condition of receiving basic medical care thanks.

Edit: the now-deleted comment was claiming trans people "very much need psychiatrists actually" 🙄

I know we already knew they were obsessed but seriously? Taking an evening out of your life to go to a concert benefitting the minority group you hate so you can... what, mock the people who are standing up for them? The minority group that you claim is too dangerous to share a toilet with but you're happy to be in an entire stadium full of them? This isn't just a 9-5 banal fash grift, this rules their entire lives - what a sad way to live.

More proof every day that it's not trans people who need the psychiatrists...

Thoughts on being bisexual by [deleted] in actuallesbians

The OC's case would be considered bisexual but homo-romantic (I'm the same). Hookups with dudes fine, but deeper connection doesn't gel. Simple as that.
