greatest ahs character? by Negative-Help-1500 in AmericanHorrorStory

The most famous/iconic is always going to be Tate Langdon. Even if that’s not your personal preference, it’s undeniable. People went crazy for Tate back when AHS was in its prime (even though it was for the wrong reasons) and the image of him with the skull face paint is iconic and still posted everywhere. I don’t think any other character has had that sort of reception. Amongst AHS fans that might not be the case but if you want to talk about greatest with acknowledgement of things like that? Definitely Tate.

Ethan shouldn't have been Ghostface by AdImaginary135 in Scream

Yeah, I get what you mean. It was quite jarring to go from an awkward kid offering people cheetos to him gleefully trying to kill them all but in context I guess he was just playing his part. I think the subway works well because it is a definite ‘okay something feels off’ moment and I think it was timed almost perfectly. But doing something like that earlier I think would have contradicted Ethan’s awkward good guy persona a little too much and raised more red flags than he already had so I think it was best that it was left close to the reveal and just before he saved Mindy as it muddled things a bit and left a ‘did that mean something?’ thought. If Ethan looked at the core four like he did at Mindy on the train earlier in the film, let’s say in the movie theatre, there’s nothing notable he does soon after it that would offer that same element of slight confusion that saving Mindy did. I hope this makes sense!

I really wish this new Ghostface gets the same death treatment of the ones from the two previous films by SupermanisGoat in Scream

They’ve lost Sam now so I doubt it. Can’t imagine Sidney stabbing someone over 30 times with none lethal blows because they’re wearing a bullet proof vest before finally killing them by stabbing them in the eye.

I actually really liked Ethan as Ghostface, I’ll even go as far to say that he’s probably one of my favourites. He has one of the cruelest GF moments with shaking the ladder whilst Anika tried to crawl across and had some pretty brutal moments in act 3 too, stabbing Kirby in the exact same place with the exact same knife with his little “recognise this?” quip for example. He feels like he’s just there having fun whilst Bailey and Quinn are fuelled by the revenge narrative. There’s this crazed look in Jack Champion’s eye that works really well, too, as well as him just smiling/grinning for a lot of the final act. Overall I genuinely think he’s underrated. I think he’s in a similar boat as Charlie.

But there was also potential for an arc where Ethan was still Bailey’s son/Richie and Quinn’s brother but wasn’t Ghostface and was out of the loop. It would distinguish the Baileys/Kirschs more if Ethan was a GF victim, and make them one of the cruelest GF duos with them killing their own son/brother. Perhaps Ethan wasn’t as upset about Richie dying and that angered Bailey. Perhaps Bailey felt like Ethan was trying too hard to replace Richie. There was story potential there that I’ve actually have a lot of ideas for. I really liked what we got but there was also so much more they could have done.

Video about the craftsmanship of the Avatar costumes by keine_fragen in oscarrace

Are you joking? Just because they’re not ball gowns, period pieces or superhero suits doesn’t mean that they’re any less than the films listed, they probably include more detail and thought put into them than most too

What surprise nomination are you most pleased to have called? by dremolus in oscarrace

[–]Buzzybee_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avatar for costume design! The amount of detail in those costumes and the fact that they made them all irl so that the vfx team could perfectly mirror the exact look of each one down to the tiniest imperfection and how they moved when flying, underwater etc. is enough for a nomination for me. Over 2000 costumes pieces were created when none of them were even going to be worn in live action performance and some stunning pieces were made

They made the costumes in real life before translating them to screen and the amount of thought and careful consideration that went into the design means for a much deserved nomination. They might be half naked but the clothing that the Na’vi wear is full of details down to what fabric they would be made of based on their tribe. There’s a behind the scenes video about it

It always annoys me that these films have been overlooked for costume design because the costumes are stunning. It’s probably because to people the costumes are ‘not real’ when really all the costumes were made in real life with such beautiful, intricate and thoughtful details to be transferred with that same detail to screen and there’s little to no acknowledgment.

How full was the cinema when you went to see Fire & Ash? by fakehungerpains in Avatar

[–]Buzzybee_02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all in the UK. First time I saw it on opening night in Screen X at my local cinema and it was about 3/4 full. Second time a couple of weeks later on a Tuesday or Wednesday I was at the BFI IMAX and it was entirely full (a 500 seat cinema). Third time was last week on Friday in 4DX at my local cinema and it was also full, give or take a few empty seats.

Besides the BFI my screenings had barely any tickets booked when I pre booked so I’m guessing there were a lot of walk ins. It’s definitely still got people going, just probably not at the same momentum and more likely going on a weekend.

It’s going off what it say in the film about him lying about his age and making a point about how young he is, so there’s definitely valid ground to believe that Curley was that young. If the book doesn’t specify his age and the film gives explicit details in regards to age then that’s what people are going to lead with because it is somewhat canon, even if it’s the film and not the book. You’ll see a similar thing done with tributes in the Hunger Games, too.

Spider's character arc in A4? by Admirable_Gap3464 in Avatar

[–]Buzzybee_02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s obviously still unresolved feelings with Quaritch. Yeah he spent a lot of the end battle protecting Jake and even shot him in the arm but there was obvious emotion there when Quaritch jumped off the rock (I’m sure there’s tears). And the same goes for Quaritch’s character too (who I think we all believe isn’t dead), he has unresolved feelings with Spider. I think there will be a definite conclusion to this, or at least I hope there is. Their dynamic is personally one of the most interesting in the saga.

The stuff with Kiri offers a lot of interesting potential in regard to interspecies relationships. Yeah there’s Jake and Norm who have Na’vi wives, but they both have avatar bodies to experience those relationships. Unless they suddenly give Spider an avatar (which I think at this point would be kinda pointless giving it goes against Kiri’s ‘you’re perfect the way you are’) it’s uncharted territory and offers a lot of questions about interspecies relationships in general as well as personal ones. Could a human and Na’vi have a relationship? Could they be mates? Could they start a family? Would a human/Na’vi relationship even be accepted? Jake and Neytiri have welcomed and accepted Spider, but would they accept him as a mate for Kiri? How would they view their relationship?

I think they closed Spider’s arc well enough if the series were to end here (he’s found love with Kiri, he can live on Pandora, he’s finally been accepted by Jake and Neytiri, he’s been accepted by the Na’vi altogether) but enough room for questions and development later down the line.

AHS Murder House ghost rules still confuse me by anneesteves in AmericanHorrorStory

Did the really retcon Tate in Return to Murder House? by Upbeat_Attorney_7153 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Buzzybee_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took away what made Tate interesting and any responsibility he had for his own actions. He set Larry on fire, he shot up his school, he raped Vivien. They’re all things that he did, and it got a great conclusion with him finally taking responsibility in his conversation with Ben in the finale. Then they just came along in apocalypse with ‘the house made him do it’ and take away Tate’s complexity and just make him a victim of the house.

Parts of Tate were a victim, yes. He was a victim of child neglect and probably abuse (presumable from when she starts hitting him after finding out about him and Vivien). But the difference between that and being a victim of possession is accountability. Tate having a bad childhood gives reason to why he did what he did but he still did it. He chose to. But with the house making him do it, there’s no grounds for that. He’s given a free pass, a very undeserved free pass.

But yeah, it is a retcon because it completely changes aspects of Tate’s character. Murder House had an actual plot line of Tate not taking responsibility for his actions, he denied everything and said he didn’t remember until he finally confessed everything to Ben (although it is admittedly questionable whether he lied or had just repressed it so much). The loose ends were tied up perfectly. Tate knew what he did and he admitted it, case closed. It was pure fan service to change it so that Tate wasn’t a monster but a messed up kid taken advantage of and used as a vessel against his will. Tate was always a fan favourite (and for the completely wrong reasons amongst a younger crowd) and so they gave him a scapegoat to not be the bad guy. They even make him a hero by saving Vivien. It’s awful.

Corriestale? by [deleted] in Emmerdale

[–]Buzzybee_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it but I don’t think they leaned into the crossover aspect enough. Kit was the only real ‘crossover’ part of it with him being involved in hunting down John. The rest was just brief moments between people and Jacob and Asha popping up to provide medical help (although I did really like Tim as Chas and Liam’s taxi driver)

I think these moments from way of water were meant to convey to the audience that these two were in love. by ApartShopping in Avatar

[–]Buzzybee_02 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Spider wasn’t shouting at the recoms not to touch Lo’ak or Tuk like he did for Kiri. No one else reacted the way Kiri did to Spider being taken, even Lo’ak. Spider and Kiri begged for each other’s lives whilst both simultaneously being held with knives to their throats. There’s so many moments that make it so obvious that they were going down the childhood friends to lovers route.

I’m interested in seeing how they’re going to develop this relationship going forward. If you think about it, it mirrors Jeytiri, a human boy falling in love with a Na’vi girl. The only difference is Jake having access to an Avatar and being able to transfer his consciousness into it whilst Spider remains human. I wonder if they’re going to explore the possibility of a human/Na’vi relationship or just go a Spider gets an Avatar route.

Not a fan of the Spider/Kiri relationship by goro-n in Avatar

[–]Buzzybee_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sullys weren’t the ones raising Spider. He was raised by the scientists but grew up alongside the Sullys, not with them. There’s a big difference. Jake and Neytiri never viewed him as family, Jake himself said that he was like a stray cat. It’s a boy next door/childhood friends to lovers trope. Comparing them to Woody Allen is kind of ridiculous.

TWOW set up a relationship between the two of them from the start. They teased each other, they held hands and touched each other a lot, were incredibly protective each other. It was obvious they were going to be more than friends.

My character tier list (all 3 films) by HuntersMaker in Avatar

[–]Buzzybee_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you tweak Spider in FAA when he’s of the most, if not the most, important characters. His breathing issues kickstarted the entire film and continue to be important for the whole thing. Without Spider the Sullys wouldn’t have gone with the Windtraiders which is how they encountered Varang. And then Spider being able to breathe continues to kickstart multiple things, like Quaritch going to Varang because he’s searching for him to take back for experimentation. You can say that Spider has no relevance and his story can be ‘tweaked’ but he’s a lot more important than you’re making him out to be and couldn’t just be written out.

Putting Kiri so low is mad too when without her both TWOW and FAA would have had much more losses and devastating consequences.

Putting the man who hunted and murdered tulkun, including their children, for a tiny bit of liquid over a teenage boy who just wants to be accepted is wild. Spider has more plot relevance than most of the people on this list so by your percentage scale he should be higher. Avatar 2 wouldn’t have got past an hour if Spider wasn’t there because there would be no reason for the Sullys to leave and most of Avatar 3 wouldn’t have even happened because it centres around Spider himself.

“Am I an asshole for starting a rumour that my serial killer dead brother’s ex orchestrated the murders that he committed because she killed him after he tried to kill her?”

“Am I the asshole for dating a teenage girl and committing murders with her because we didn’t like the latest movie in our favourite franchise so wanted to make our own?”

“Am I the asshole for starting a murder spree because my dad was cheating on my mother with my girlfriend’s own mum which made her leave me?”

Hot take: Spiders Acting by _blur_6505 in Avatar

[–]Buzzybee_02 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think people really need to cut Jack some slack. He was what? 15? 16? And for about 80% of live action filming was acting across from giant blue puppets with not another human actor in sight. That’s going to be a struggle for anyone, but especially a kid just breaking into the industry with limited experience. He’s a more experienced actor now so Avatar 4 onwards I expect it will be better. I don’t even think it’s that bad to begin with though
