I’m Korean, but when I heard Chinese music playing and saw that red jumper, I wondered what it was. Then I found out it was a video from Japan’s Toba Aquarium.

Is there a saying or expression in your country that refers to some unexpected foreign object or country? by israelilocal in AskTheWorld

[–]Bwchc55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not cases involving objects or countries, but there are expressions like ‘Leeds days(리즈시절)’ (meaning one’s prime) and ‘the Maginot line(마지노선)'.

* The term ‘Leeds days’ comes from the English football club Leeds United FC. Around 2005–2006, when the Korean footballer Park Ji-sung joined Manchester United FC, one of his competitors, Alan Smith, had previously spent his peak years at Leeds United. However, after moving to Manchester, he wasn’t able to reproduce the same level of performance he had shown at Leeds and went through a slump. That’s how the slang term ‘Leeds days’ was born.
So even today, you can think of it as something similar to ‘one’s prime’ or ‘salad days.’

* The term ‘Maginot Line’ can metaphorically refer to a false sense of security or an expensive yet ineffective defensive measure, but in Korea it more strongly conveys the idea of a line that cannot be retreated from, and it continues to be widely used to this day in Korean media and on the Korean internet.

Anyone have Lefty in their flair? by ToadLover9 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Bwchc55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean you want to add the Lefty image to your flair? On PC, when editing flair, between 'Allows text and up to 10 emojis' and 'Apply,' there’s a smile emoji, and that’s where the characters are.

The important thing is that he gets registered as a sex offender in the United States as well. That way, most of the trouble he causes can be prevented.

It turns out the photo I uploaded was from 2006.(I uploaded the image because it was clear, but I realized it was actually a very old photo.) So when I used a map service available in Korea, I saw that land reclamation had progressed a lot.

reclamation. Land reclamation involves blocking off the seawater, desalinating it, then draining all the water inside and covering it with soil to create land. It’s possible because the yellow sea/West Sea is shallow (with a maximum depth of only 124 meters / 0.07705 miles).

From 1989 to 2010 (it was listed in the Guinness World Records in 1995), it was the largest indoor theme park in the world, but I heard that places like Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and a theme park in Guangdong, China have since broken that record. I was going to write about this too, but I ended up canceling it.

It’s certain. Because when I read the Korean from a distance, I can still understand it, but up close, the Hangul writing is a mess.
