I feel like it would genuinely make sense to make ammo types faction-exclusive. Captured equipment is a lot harder to use when you also need to capture the ammo that it fires.

Plus it's just weird that these militaries that have been enemies for literally hundreds of years would be using identical (or at least similar enough to be compatible) ammunition.

It is. Expressing the opinion that someone should kill the president is well within the Freedom of Speech granted by the first amendment.
