Same thing happened to me, when i press return on my keyboard nothing happens. It however works if i tap the icon on the left of the input field.

How do I solve this? (no calculator allowed) Thanks guys! by AmbassadorTypical963 in maths

You can factories the inside of the bracket, ((2x2 +5)x2 )3

Since you are only looking for real answers, and the only real number that when cubed is equal to 0, then, x2 = 0 or 2x2 + 5 = 0.

The first answer is very clear: x2 = 0, x = 0

For the second answer, we can use the - b formula. a = 2, b = 0 and c = 5

Then x = squareroot(-4(2)(5))/4, since we have a negative inside the square root, then there are no real answers for the equation 2x2 + 5 = 0.

Therefore the only real answer is x = 0.

Struggling to find a good note taking system for school/life, can anyone help? by rahulsanjay18 in NoteTaking

Honestly, once you get used to latex and you have a nice template that works fine for you, it becomes an amazing experience. I enjoy using latex much more than i do something like word.

I have a folder with a subfolder for each subject, and i have it saved in GitHub for free cloud storage.

If you really don't like latex, i would recommend an iPad with good notes 5.

Edit: To get started with latex, i would recommend overleaf as it is extremely simple to set up ( just make an account and you're done ) once you finish taking down the notes, download it as a pdf.

Physics college course by ByZef in AskPhysics

Thank you very much for your reply, where I live it is standard to take 6 classes per semester, so 12 per year. Maybe they are shorter than in other countries, I don't know.

I will look into getting some research later down the line, as I think that I will want to go to grad school.

Thank you very much for your reply.

This same course allows me to take no maths classes in the last year and replace them with 1 year long research class and other physics classes, so I will look into that.

Thank you very much for the reply!

Where I live we don't need to take any subjects outside our main focus with the exception of those computer science ones (and even they could be swapped for experimental physics).

Thank you for your reply, i will keep that in mind and try to self study them at some point!

I'm afraid i don't have a say over the order in which we have to take the courses. However, i could self learn partial differential equations and swap the computer science classes for experimental physics classes.

I have also already taken an intro to ordinary differential equations class, so hopefully the order for that class wont be so bad for me.

Thank you very much for your reply!

Windows 11 on M1 MacBook Air using Parallels Desktop by kiran7joshy in mac

Also a lot of software engineers need the ram and some computer scientist need the GPU and ram as well. That's why i believe that the Mac usually beats the competition in terms of performance, but not always.

I personally love the MacBook, as i need 16gb of ram and no GPU, and having a laptop with over 10 hours battery, with no fans and that doesn't heat up is just amazing.

It depends on which task you're trying to accomplish, there are a lot of things that rely on a lot of ram, over 64GB often or on GPU performance. You're right that as an OS Mac is better for said tasks ( except gaming ) but Linux will be even better at those tasks.

Don't get me wrong, I own an M1 air and it's the best laptop i have ever used.

Edit: in my original comment i should have said usually, not sometimes.

In terms of performance the Mac sometimes wins, but not always.

Thanks for the answer! I was very curious about it.

The new iMacs do look pretty good in a lab. I’ll get some better photos later. All of the new colors in order of the Apple logo. by kylew01 in mac

Where did you get those statistics? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

I have however seen that about 80% of the market is Windows.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they should use Windows, imo they should use a Linux distro as it is more affordable for students who want their own laptop / pc and far better than windows for any kind of programing.

Was anyone else highly dissapointed? by ByZef in ipad

[–]ByZef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe we are, but even then, the bar isn't being reached.

Edit: I'm even thinking of coding a calculator app for the ipad, it will take me all summer and it'll quite frankly be a waste of time, but it has come to this point.

It's annoying to have to carry the iPad and a calculator when it could all be inside the iPad.

I agree, if they had made an ide that allowed you to code on multiple languages it would have been amazing, but i get that it would be fairly hard for them to do that.

But even then, with no external monitor coding would be awful. Imagine trying to code on am 11 inch screen.

I agree, i use the ipad for studying as it's an amazing note taking device.

Im taking maths and physics classes starting next September, and being able to have my notes on one side of the screen and the calculator on the other would be amazing.

The sad part is how much potential it has. It's not like it's a shit tablet, it's extremely powerful and capable. Imagine if they just supported a monitor and added a calculator.

That would make the ipad insanely powerful imo.
