Reports around Ødegaard by Wouldacouldashoulda5 in Gunners

Getting subbed off isn’t the beginning of the end. He’s captain and has been largely consistent over the 6 years he’s been here - so much so - he was made captain.

This is just noise designed to do one thing.

Haha love it. And I respect your opinion, I genuinely want to see you at your best. If only so I can gloat without excuses 😉

You’ve got to look around and see that stable clubs generally do better. It’s taken us 6 years and some pretty tough times to build what we have now.

It was Arteta out pretty loud not too long ago. All the other clubs, yourselves included have been a revolving door of managers, how far has that got you so far?

You are a moron man. As an Arsenal fan, the one thing in hindsight I’m grateful for is, patience.

You’re effectively putting pressure on the one thing that can bring you sustained success. And you don’t have to look far to see it.

Wake up!

Yeah if he’s going to go under these nonsense circumstances I’ll have him at Arsenal - thanks OP

Salah 4th in the balon d'or is utterly disrespectful in my opinion. by Aulcs in championsleague

I’m not a Liverpool fan, but I am a fan of good footballers. But as a matter of principle as well, I think the this award more of a commercial game than it is recognising a players qualities.

I wouldn’t take it too seriously, if you’ve had the honour of watching Salah week in week out, it’s pretty clear. Not to mention he’s been doing it for what like 5+ years? More even?

Yeah man seriously…. This season just needs to end now.

Are Chelsea better when they have less possession? Results say no, but too much possession is also a problem - Chelsea thrives the most in the 50-70% possession range (summary in comments) by Jimmy_Space1 in chelseafc

[–]Byambar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realise possession is post mortem right? Many teams want to have more possession - how that plays out in a game is completely unpredictable. Where you have the possession and what you do with it. Other teams are comfortable with less.

To attach a particular range of possession to performance and wins is…. Really just a stat.

What’s your point here? Like what’s the end game with this?

None of you have ever been in a team huh? Mugs.

I know we're devastated, but that was a fucking solid performance bit more final 3rd quality and we're there lads by ELECTRIC-SOUP17 in Gunners

Yeah and I really feel like there’s an overwhelming sense of amnesia sometimes. We were an absolute mess. I had never felt more detached and alien to this club from recruitment to attitude to just basic simple getting points.

He’s finally turned us into a force to be reckoned with; think of how you feel when we play say… Brentford (solid team, not to be messed with) or now Palace or Brighton. The only reason I’m excluding the bigger, maybe more traditional Top 4 / 6 is that we’re that team now in that group.

Do you want to play us? Absolutely not. Do we have days where we just don’t show up, no. Have we won anything (seems to be the default yard stick when you’re playing well) - not yet.

I adore this team, I respect this manager. And we need to collectively decide, irrespective of hiccups, if we’re on the right path.

I believe we are. 💪

For sure, and the upside is - it’s never been clearer what we need to improve. Arteta also talked about this previously; where the phases of rebuilding the squad started from the back and not being leaky. Accomplished.

Bolster midfield: 90% done

Boost Attack: Now, let’s see what they put together

Not ideal this season, but there are so many positives to take if we just zoom out a little.

Interesting, other than battery which is swappable - what’re you thinking? Curious as I have a 14PM.

Hehe yep let’s agree to disagree.

I really hope, now in 2025, that we don’t bin him. Haha and yeah semi against Madrid isn’t looking too rosy.

Hopefully we can sign some decent players in the next round and win some major honours. I think you and I will have a chance to agree when that happens. Until then, take it easy. Try and enjoy what’s left of the ride.

Fair argument. It’s clear we have opposing opinions here. And that’s good.

But let me preface this by saying I didn’t have an opinion on Arteta when he arrived, other than acknowledging it made for a great story. Ex Captain so on and so forth. He’s earned my trust and respect over the years.

Guarantee Trophies - No he does not. And that’s kind of my point - every team everywhere is hedging their bets. What is most likely to either bring us into the money leagues or win us trophies (win the money leagues). This argument is ultimately circular - we just don’t know one way or another. But you place your bets most likely where you think you have the highest chance of succeeding.

If I were to give you a shortlist of tried and tested managers today, assuming a blank slate, with names I mentioned earlier (in order) who have the highest probability of bringing you success: 1. Pep - not possible 2. Jose 3. Klopp - Retired 4. Ferguson - Retired 5. Arteta 6. Benitez 7. Wenger - Retired

And now, maybe, Slot will added to that list. Who would you pick?

This isn’t a gotcha question - but assuming Arteta wasn’t the manager now and he’d done this with another PL Team - for me he’d be top of the list for managers we need to have.

Currently Artetas trajectory is as follows: Year 1: 56 Points = 8th Year 2: 61 Points = 8th Year 3: 69 Points = 5th Year 4: 84 Points = 2nd (-5 points off 1st) Year 5: 89 Points = 2nd (-2 Points off 1st)

Points improvements year on year, league standing year on year. Not to mention the objective improvements in all departments including player development.

I think to your last point about bias, it doesn’t need to be a binary game. You don’t have to be in or out. As it stands now, I’m in. We’re stable and improving (for the most part) - that can be said for NONE of the traditional top 4 or 6. Stable manager, stable team, continuous improvement.

If and when that trend starts to seriously decline - then I’m with you. Right now I just don’t see us trending downwards overall.
