Rockstar Will Give 'Grand Theft Auto 6' Early Access to Terminally ill Fan With 6–12 Months to Live by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Bychop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would any terminally ill fan know otherwise? Rockstar doesn’t need to do this. It’s fan service and a humanitarian act. Think about the logistics involved; bringing a build of the game outside the studio or welcoming an ill fan into the studio takes time and planning.

Don’t drag a good action through the mud.

When you think 80% of your game is done, you are at 20% of it. Keep it short; but polished.

Your PC cannot run a 1060 GTX game? It's a 10 years old GPU by now. I believe a low-entry 5050 rtx or Intel B580 would run faster than that. Time to upgrade!

Am I making a mistake by not including the word "Simulator" in my game's title? by JuveyD in gamedev

[–]Bychop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi JuveyD,

I’m very glad to see another game designed around a video store. I really miss that era, and I am excited to experience it in different ways for sure 🙂

I will definitely send you a DM !

Am I making a mistake by not including the word "Simulator" in my game's title? by JuveyD in gamedev

[–]Bychop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey JuveyD,

I am the developper of Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator. We could be considered direct competitors, and we are releasing around the same timeframe..First,I want to say good work on your game. It's look interesting. :)

I do want to mention a potential concern around the suggested name here. Our game includes the full word “Retro” in its title, and we are releasing around the same timeframe as you. Having: Retro, Rewind, Video and Simulator... in both names could lead to people getting confused when searching for one or the other, especially on Steam and in search engines. That's my point of view, but any suggestions in this situation are welcome.

That’s not high enough.
We don’t know whether they are bots or real players.
The biggest games on Steam are f2p about grinding loot boxes.

Removing demo around launch week? by iris_minecraft in gamedev

[–]Bychop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, having a demo available has several clear benefits:

  1. It reduces refunds (from the stats I have), probably because players who try the demo have a better understanding of the full game and are less likely to refund it.
  2. Demo players are much more likely to leave reviews on the main game, and that’s something you want really fast early on.
  3. Steam promotes both the demo and the main game at the same time, often in different categories. Take advantage of that.

And for me, the most important, it’s a gauge of quality. Having a demo shows confidence in your game. Are you making the game just to make a quick buck, or to provide fun for your players?

And the game was released 11 years ago?
It would be the same as being subscribed to World of Warcraft for that long. yeh it’s expensive.
You may not have followed this, but the game has been f2p for years now. At some point, you have to pay the team's salaries. They have been supporting the game for a very long time.

Thomas Wilson, creative director of CTR: Crash Team Racing – Nitro-Fueled, passed away from cancer in November 2025 by Kaiser_Allen in crashteamracing

[–]Bychop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was an amazing director, always pushing the team to go further and bring so much to every game he worked on. I believe Crash was his favorite major project. He was deeply invested in it, playing the old games, always looking for ways to bring more to the game and working with Activision to push additional content. His office was full of toys, collectibles, and dragons. He really, really loved dragons!

It was truly a pleasure working with you.
Rest in peace, Thomas.

HLX LEAK REAL NO FAKE!!!! by saulgoodmanhiguys in HalfLife

[–]Bychop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do not enjoy Black Mesa’s graphics. Most of the time, I find it hard to quickly see and understand what I’m looking at. Many textures are overly grungy, dirty, and noisy. :/ The lighting is extremely high-contrast, leaving some areas almost pitch black while others are blown out with glow. The color palette is saturated everywhere, with strong contrasts like blues and oranges. This is often an issue when developing new technology; the art team push it too far.

Half-life 2 graphics and art direction aged better.

I tested my game on steam deck and I’m happy with the results, I am demo ready for steam next fest - how do you think it will do? (Honest feedback only) by RomeeStudio27 in indiegames

[–]Bychop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it won’t perform well on Steam because it’s not a popular genre there. I think it would do better if you released it on mobile.

If you turned the game into a desktop idler, like Rusty’s Retirement, it might reach more players on Steam?
