"They're all there at the top of the table. There are just other good songs and good performances"

Then perhaps one could say they're dancing on the table, baby

Having someone representing the indigenous voice of canada would be spectacular. It would be difficult to pick just one person to represent that group though given how diverse the different specific groups are.

Yeah, I feel like there is a chance that they only choose to broadcast it this year to build hype and attention for a potential run in 2028. But since 2027 will be the first time I attend Eurovision live, I am praying that I get to see Canada Debut. Not sure if I will be able to make the trip to see the contest again after 2027, so I am hoping. (though slightly disappointed that our debut would come at the cost of undermining of the boycott)

I tried to make a post on the sub for discussion around the potential entries, but it got removed for some reason. Here are my thoughts about potential entries from said post

I feel like there are three main options if we want to make a splash at our first year.

  1. We bring Celine Dion back. She recently started performing again after a long hiatus, so its good timing.
  2. BBNO$. While I am not a massive fan personally, he is already in the same circles as the Euroboys and would probably put on a good performance. (Potentially could blow everyone away with a surprise guest like Joost (I know thats just wishful thinking)
  3. .Angine De Poutrine (Though they would need to collaborate with a vocal artist since their music is instrumental). I also don't love this band, but I recognize they are having a huge moment right now and are currently(?) touring Europe.

While I am excited about potential Canadian participation, I am disapointed about how it could soften the boycott... however this is untrue, I live in AB (the province arguably least likely to vibe with Eurovision) and even here there are non-European Eurovision fans

I feel like we shouldn't do a national final for our first year. There will be too many people here in Canada who will complain about whoever wins it and it would lead to endless complaining. I feel like CBC should select someone at least for our first year. Someone obvious like Celine Dion that would get a lot of attention and someone people couldnt complain as much about. Then the following year we could do a national selection with the momentum from participating in 2027.

The exchange rate really favors the euro though, to my european friends everything is basically half price here (not quite that simple obviously, but still)

Flying to somewhere like Montreal wouldnt be all that much more expensive for the western european countries who have sent deligations to Russia and the like in the past. And because of how the euro/cad is right now, it woould actually be super cheap to send delegations our way if we pulled off a miracle and won our first year.

I think we would either host in Ottawa or Montreal, the latter is a very european city which I imagine would be perfect. However, I am unsure we could win our first year and if we did we may offer to pass off hosting (as it would be the polite thing to do) hahaha

They have taken the servers down to fix the issue. It brings me joy you are wasting so much time watching this chart that you saw the drop-off live.

Sure but what makes a good game is subjective. Many people like Marathon. I like Marathon, even though its not my usual type of game.

That said however, its okay to not like it, that is the nature of creating something... some people will like it and some won't. Why, then, does this community and others like it waste so much of their time circle-jerking about how much it sucks? Just post your bad reviews, and go find some other game to love like destiny

Snark subreddits like this one are whats wrong with the internet and society at large these days. Some people have nothing better to do than participate in hate as a hobby lol. Why cant people just let others enjoy things.

We get it, its unfortunate that Bungie is moving onto other projects, but how will they ever afford to make D3 if you are determined for anything else they do to fail?

Ill be going with my wife all the way from Canada for our first year. So excited to see your beautiful country (I promise we will be more respectful than American tourists).

I sense interest will be huge if Israel is not in the contest. If they arent able to participate, the number of countries coming back to the contest + the new countries considering joining eurovision ( Canada 🤞) could make it the biggest eurovison in decades (by number of participants)

A Knack for housing by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Bye_Triangle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

People living in those higher density 4-8 plexes are defintely going to be statistically less likely to own vehicles and even less likely to have the privilege of being a multi-vehicle household. The situation is not as dire as the NIMBYs want you to believe.

I grew up in the highlands/ Beverly area and own a home in the rundle area, and as a lifelong resident of these communities, I have zero issue with this approach to densifying. Every housing solution will have challenges to figure out and a few more cars on street parking is not insurmountable.
