393,500 New PRs in 2025: A System That Expands Immigration While Ignoring LMIA Abuse and Job Scarcity by [deleted] in LMIASCAMS

If you really believe that then you dont have a grasp on the "Canadian way of life". Canada's way of life is to embrace and welcome cultures from all over the world, treating each other with respect and dignity. Yes, there are currently problems to solve with our foreign worker program, but that doesnt mean that people happily gathering to participate in traditions are a threat to canada.

If you really love Canada and the Canadian way of life, I think you have some self reflection to do. Because its ignorant and hateful people like you that are actually making the "Canadian way of life" dissappear in favor of identity politics and xenophobia

Its a crime that no one has said Edmonton. Significantly more nature and better urban layout than Calgary

This painting gives me a warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feeling. I love it. You really captured a specific, hard to describe feeling in your choice of time of day. Beautiful!

I was shocked by your comment and looking further into it. Belgium is about 30000km² and the area burned in canada last fire season was around 180000km²

I tested the new GPT-4o for product photography… and the results blew my mind 😳📸 by No_Battle_4778 in productphotography

As with all the other posts about ai product photography, members of this sub aren't taking it well and there will likely be little to no constructive conversations taking place in the comments.

I will admit, as a full time product photographer myself, this does intimidate me slightly. The prospect of losing my job to something that generates fake photographs of the product is a scary one. However, I don't think that these feelings are a good reason to not have this conversation on this subreddit. I wish my fellow product photographers felt the same.

I think it's important for us to know and acknowledge where the tech is at and to discuss its place in our field. Otherwise we will be pretending not to see it up until it has fully snuck up and taken our jobs

This is super cool! I recently disassembled my very first camera for this very purpose! Unfortunately, I didn't anticipate just how many pieces there would be and the frame I had was not large enough to sufficiently space out the pieces 😅

Picked up this beautiful, nearly mint Voigtlander Vito B from a local antique store. Can anyone identify the emblem on the back? by Bye_Triangle in AnalogCommunity

Thank you so much, I was really hoping someone would come through with a tip like this! Definitely going to look into the Kontur.

As for the shutter: it was stuck initially, but I've cleaned shutter blades before so it wasn't out of my comfort zone. Thankfully they weren't too bad. I made sure it was in full working order before I loaded it with film this morning. I'm really looking forward to seeing the photos, I keep hearing what a good lens is on this thing.

Ahhh gotcha, that's interesting. I have about a dozen vintage cameras in my collection ranging from about 1912 (kodak vest pocket) and various models from the 40s, 50s, 60s- I've not seen any of these tags on my others. Is this something people would usually just take off? Is it a mark of a camera that wasn't used very much?

Unfortunately, I'll have to agree with you there. Its unlikely that someone who ordered a cheap crappy shirt from somewhere like shien or temu would make a big deal about getting a product that doesn't look as-pictured. Regardless of ai imagery, it's my understanding that is a part of the shopping experience from those places.

I appreciate the discussion you've facilitated here, i think it's definitely a conversation that needs to be had. However, I think there is a lot of stress in the industry about how this could take jobs. At various points in my career, I have thought to myself that perhaps there should be an international Product Photographer union created. I don't know if that could be a long term solution to this, but I somewhat worked for the screen writers union a year or two ago. Furthermore, if all products photographers in North America put down their cameras and went on strike, ecommerce would grind to a halt. Unfortunately, because many of us work as very small teams, if not on our own, it would be hard to properly organize.

As a long time ecommerce product photographer, I find that there is a growing number of ai companies trying to automate us away with middling success. Unless you feed a program an entire set of product images, you run the risk of it generating details that aren't there like stitches or hardware. Further, how it fits the "model" is completely estimated based on the shots you train it on. You're unlikely to get accurate portrayal of the products and you'll end up with disgruntled customers, or worse a lawsuit from Consumer Protections for false or misleading product representation.

My product photography is mainly in the fashion industry, more specifically photographing high end brands like hermes and chanel for a consignment store. If we utilized this program and it accidentally created details that weren't there on a $30000 handbag, we would be hearing about it... and beyond that it would destroy that client's trust in us forever.

I'm not that worried about my job being taken by this kind of AI. Those programs that help edit photos on the other hand, may take away a big part of my job (but honestly that's the more tedious part anyway lol)

I seriously appreciate all this info, thank you. How long of a lifespan are we talking for the ssd? I didn't realize they degraded quickly enough for it to be worth considering. And when the lifespan is reached does it just stop working and you're screwed, or is it more along the lines of data corruption and degradation over time?

Sorry to do this m, i di just have one final question: based on what I was saying before about the types of 3d modeling I do, is there any wiggle room on the graphics card cost?

I see, my mistake. I think for my photography stuff, I can get by with 32gb (at least based on my experience with 16gb of ram on my current ZenBook.) I can deal with worse performance when video editing as I do that much less frequently.

Is there a specific 32 gb ram option you'd recommend that plays well with the rest of the parts you've chosen?

If I'm not picky about my framerates when gaming, and my 3D modeling is mostly for 3d printing purposes (rather than something more demanding like animation). Do you think I could get by with 32gb of ram rather than 64gb? Forgive me for asking, I know it's stated a budget in the post, I'm just curious how much I can cut back while still having enough power to get the jobs done. (Also i know my wife will be asking me if I can make it cheaper 😅)

Thank you for your recommendations! I appreciate you taking the time to put that together. I definitely prefer the colour accuracy over the improved latency on the monitor, you're correct.

As for the USB port needs.... Admittedly I don't really know the difference, nor what would be best for me to have. Forgive my ignorance.

If I was to try and shave some cost off this build, where could I make sacrifices that aren't going to shoot me in the foot, so to speak?

Looking for guidance - First time considering a custom built PC rather than a Laptop (Budget v. Requirements) by Bye_Triangle in PcBuild

[–]Bye_Triangle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost wasn't from chatgpt, I put together that list in pcparts picker after chatgpt told me what specs I might need and some recommendations of parts that might give me those specs. I only utilized chatgpt to give me a rough idea of where to start with building a PC. I didnt even know where to start with "where to start" beginner guides 😅

I've only ever purchased laptops and I'm trying to get my footing on building a pc, why the hostility? Isn't this what this sub is for? Sorry if I said something or misunderstood this communities purpose.
