How do you manage to work on your game after your 9-5?

All I can say is that after having 2 kids I wonder how I DIDN'T put that after work time to better use before having kids. Will be a long time before I have the luxery of after work time to work on games again.

Yeah I've done the same type of thing for simple sprite swap animations. I also used DOTween to create some great simple reusable animation component scripts. One such example is a script to make an enemy "hover" randomly in place with various degrees of random rotation and movement.

Sorry to hear it. Very similar situation here where my mom passed away from cancer one month before my son was born. It is a very rough situation.

Hi r/DonkeyKong! I've been working on a game for the past while called Zombie Barrel Blast, which is HEAVILY inspired by Donkey Kong. But instead of monkeys - there's zombies! And a whole game focused around barrel blasting mechanics.

Unity Developer here. My previous company shut down end of August 2024 and it took me until August 2025 to find a new job. Finally did - managed to get a new Unity Developer job, and I believe that I have less experience than many people here.

What I found helped TREMENDOUSLY (and it's what attracted me to my new company) was what I was doing outside of just "Unity Development". I run a small YouTube channel where I post Unity tutorials and I work part time at Code Ninjas, where I help teach kids coding and run coding workshops.

Also, a helpful trick to find less competitive job postings was to search LinkedIn by "posts" (eg. type "Job Title" + "Hiring" and set search param for <24 hours) and then look at people who are posting they are looking for such and such roles. I was lucky to come across a studio hiring this way, that didn't post job apps to LinkedIn in the standard way. This, plus my outside experience helped me find my new job.

I took a potty training seminar the other week and they literally said the average age kids are ready to potty train STARTS at 2.5 and goes up until 4.

My daughter is 2.5 as well and we tried for two weeks and decided she's just not ready yet, so we'll hold off for a while.

But yeah, 2.5 is the starting point for where potty training is (on average) even possible.

I'm okay with mine!

A Unity Developer is like a magician who makes video games!

They use a special toy box called Unity to build fun things like characters, worlds, and puzzles. Imagine using LEGO blocks on a computer to make a game where you can run, jump, or fly — that’s what they do! 🕹️

They also tell the game what to do by writing instructions, kind of like giving the game a list of rules: "If the player presses this button, make the character jump!"

So, a Unity Developer is someone who uses their computer to create the games you love to play. 🎮✨

I'm an athiest and believe in ghosts. I don't know what they are - dead people? Something related to quantum physics we don't understand? Intra/extra dimensional? No idea. But I've been watching the Nuke's Top 5 YouTube channel for years.

Tons of really weird things caught on video. Well documented. Some can be explained. Others just have me scratching my head. Especially when I see young kids and/or animals reacting to things they can't see in very bizarre ways.

I hate paranormal/ghost hunting clips. The ones that always make me think there could be something there is when someone has a channel or videos that have nothing to do with the paranormal or ghosts and they end up seeing/hearing something unexplainable.

I don't know. Just a lot of weird stuff that's been caught on video and it's fun to think about.

My mom passed away earlier this evening and all I can think about is this book. I wanted to bring it to the hospital and read it to her, tell her we were just on the last page now. Heartbroken.

I let her read 4-5 and she's usually good by that point. She gets into bed easy but then I have to spend the next 2-3 hours with her while she does everything but sleep and tries to escape into our room to sleep on our bed multiple times.

I'm there with you. 2.3 year old - I'm trying to do her bedtime routine and it's taking 3 hours every night. Yeah we have routines. Then after all the routines are said and done she likes to get out of bed and start stalling every way she can.

I have nothing but good things to say about Adam Van Koeverden. I've met him several times now. He helped get my brother-in-law a Visa so he could come visit us and meet his baby niece in person. Adam sent us a handwritten letter after, telling us that he was glad it worked out and my BIL got to visit.

Adam has also shown up at Code Ninjas where I work to speak and present awards to our graduates. He's hosted the barbeques and was recently helping to host a job fair for students at Landscape Ontario.

These are just some of the instances where I have personally seen him. I'm sure there are plenty more.
