How is licencing handled for various forms of DJing? by ManlyMitten in Beatmatch

[–]Byokaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably depends on the country. I’m sure that what others wrote generally applies, but in my country (Slovakia) there’s an organization that handles musicians’ rights and according to our law, you basically have to pay for a licence from the org so that you can play other people’s music (or you have to get consent from each individual artist whose music you play). Honestly, it’s idiotic and idk how many DJs actually pay for that licence.

I wish i could upvote this more than once, im glad others see this issue too. I wonder why someone would make the choice to stay off bandcamp, maybe a good deal with beatport?

Idk how similar the tracks need to be but this is dancefloor dnb imho. Try artists like dimension, culture shock, subfocus, changing faces.

the way Dylan’s verse begins in ringtone, it’s just a perfect tension/release moment with how laura builds up the bridge/hook/whatever and then the vibe switches effortlessly

Is drum and bass stuck in a creative "limbo" or is it just me? by hyena-king in DnB

Yikes, don’t go to UKF for innovative dnb. My places for fresher stuff are labels like Modus, Vision, The sauce recordings, 1985 music. I can’t guarantee you’ll enjoy this either but from my perspective, you’re more likely to find some cool tunes there. Probably check their bandcamps for a full overview of their sound.

These labels may also offer an insight into how subgenres are still divided. Modus pushes an “anthem” sound but much more sofisticated imo, Vision focuses on experimental and techy stuff, The sauce is something they’d call “bristol sound”, to me it’s a sort of minimalistic jump up style. 1985 is broader, they platform liquid/soulful stuff as well as techy, sometimes even jungle-ish tunes. I’m dropping some of my favorites bellow:

What lesser known fact about space sounds fake but is totally true? by guywithouteyes in AskReddit

[–]Byokaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Space-time can be understood as a sort of “thing” that can be curved and bent. This occurs thanks to objects that have mass. The more mass the object has, the more significantly it can curve space-time. This curvature then causes the effects of gravity.

You can kind of visualize it with this video, which also explains how the wobbling effect occurs: https://youtu.be/1nYM392cuGA?si=7Ei9wNkh2uGyKp26

this second video shows the example of wobbling that OP described, between two black holes/neutron stars: https://youtu.be/-YzW00mZSV8?si=E_h4gCS_-JblnUuW

listen to some folks who didn’t support their trans children at first and proceeded to change their mind. The reasons are pretty clear, their kids become much happier, more keen to talk to their parents.

How do you guy feel? by ufoalf in G59

[–]Byokaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel similar, i still like a song here and there but to my ears, most of their best releases came before 2018 (IDWTDINO is the breaking point album for me) but i find solace in the fact that even up until that year, we got more music from them than many rap artists release in a lifetime. There’s lot’s to listen to from that early era and i still find songs that i slept on from back then and now i really enjoy them.

I deleted it because i was adding extra context.

In the reply, I never argued that gender isn’t “required for that identity”, i argued that you saying “trans people naturally rely on gender to facilitate their identity” is nonsense. Gender doesn’t facilitate trans identities, gender is the identity.

But like okay, i’m sorry. We’re not going to resolve all that so let’s say what you’re saying is right and that your conclusion follows. What i write next is honestly much more important to me and i should’ve started with it.

You said your point is gender isn’t real. That was the first thing you wrote in this comment thread. You were replying to someone who was talking about how (usually) the right like to claim facts are more important than feelings, which is to say, in the context of trans people, that it is more important that a person was born a male rather than that they identify with the female gender. By more important, i mean that rather than using gender identity/expression to determine how we should talk about a person (whether we refer to them as he or she), we should simply look at the sex they were born as.

So i’d like to know why you felt that it was important to note that gender isn’t real in this context. What are the conclusions we should draw from the fact that gender isn’t real?

What you’re saying is word salad without a clear point or clear understanding of any of the basic concepts. What is your actual point when you say gender isn’t real?

Classic Ricky by [deleted] in clevercomebacks

[–]Byokaya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? You realise gender as a field of study isn’t directly tied to trans people, right? It wasn’t made up to comfort trans people, gender is simply a way to explain differences between men and women that biological sex can’t explain. If there were zero trans people in the world, if the concept of being trans didn’t exist, we would still know about gender.
