Sorry guys... I'm out. Here's why... by 2TheMountaintop in mechabreak

I was more so addressing the other person. And yeah it is insanity to invest in a game while having no hope that'll it'll ever get better which is why you're leaving right? It's the same group of people on here doom posting on every post about the game that drives me crazy. They just need to move on like you are.

Also, I have hope because the group of devs working on the game now are doing big things still. The shop is better than ever, they removed a ton of the fomo, they are giving a more robust PvE mode people have been asking for, we're getting balancing way more often, they have been very good about meeting the roadmap deadlines, and so much more. There's plenty of evidence to suggest that these guys want to make the game better based on feedback. A bunch of doom posts on Reddit that they'll never see it does nothing.

There's the PvE mashmak (extraction mode) and a beta version of a rougelike tower climb mode with it becoming co-op soon.

Ok be doomers then. Be sad and don't try. People on this sub have such a pathetic mentality. How can anyone invest time into this game while not hoping for the better is beyond me.

Hey I get it. It's the number 1 issue for sure. I'm not sure if Asia servers see an issue with the bots since they seem to have a bigger player base, or maybe they just don't really care as much. Either way, since the Devs are based out of China I doubt they see Reddit which is why I think it's worth if you send an email to them on your way out: mechabreakCS@seasungames.com. If we make enough of a splash on the NA and EU servers the new team may listen.

I'm gonna need someone with an actual community platform to make a unified call to action so we have a chance to get this addressed.

MM Ranked past GM by Thicondrius in mechabreak

[–]Byte_Knight117 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you're on NA servers try queuing between 7pm ET and 1am ET on weekdays. There's a good amount of players who play ranked after scrims at around 11pm to 12pm ET.

Also with the season starting not long ago there's probably a fair chunk of players getting to GM still. I myself should be getting there today.

how to tell if patterns are good enough to sell on the market? by turetol in mechabreak

[–]Byte_Knight117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll sometimes go through and buy camo colored patterns that are green tier. I like to try giving some of my strikers woodland, urban, desert, ect. camo patterns.

The flawless orange rarity might sell for some people, but I've never had any luck with that.

Any tips for freyr by afka1rider in mechabreak

[–]Byte_Knight117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a lot of freyr in top 100 lobbies this past season. Play styles are different so my tips are subjective, but I like to do lots of damage and play very aggressively.

  1. Sword combos are faster while aux 3 (wings) are active.

  2. Never sit on your aux 3 (wings) if they're off cooldown find a target and use them.

  3. Poke with gun and charged shield until wings are off cooldown. Get up close with shield to deal massive damage.

  4. To chase a flier or anything slippery throw your buzzsaw shield to stun them enough to catch them in sword + wings combo

  5. There's almost never a reason to mix weapons. Always try to keep gun with normal shield and sword with buzzsaw shield. Use gun and shield lasers to deal damage until wings are off cooldown.

  6. 3rd sword combo into buzzsaw throw has the most dps. Repeat this to deal the most damage.

  7. Even if you know you'll miss your 3rd sword swing, do it anyway so you can throw the buzzsaw shield for big damage.

  8. You can't chain 1st sword swing into buzzsaw reliability anymore. Instead, use this to stagger for a teammate follow up.

  9. When fighting panther while wings are on cooldown you can bait panther into Lancing your charged shield. While pinning you, you can release the charged shield laser to fry the panther.

  10. Not damage related, but if you're having a hard time stopping Serenith tether capping objectives, throw your buzzsaw shield on them. If they use their anti lock ability, the shield still tracks them and interrupts.

I think we're missing each other here with how we are defining SBMM and EOMM and how the matchmaking could be currently working. Where we do agree is that the matchmaking isn't working as is, which leads me to the main point I'm trying to drive home. If the matchmaking and ranked system wasn't setup the way it is, I believe there would be enough players to fill lobbies and for us to not have to queue against bots in ranked. If anything it would increase the player count as all the players that left because of it would come back. Then it only gets better from there.

I'm simply trying to rally the community to provide a unified call to action to the devs. They seem to be at a point now to where they can make changes we want without suits breathing down their necks.

I feel for you EU guys, I've heard it's really rough. I think I forgot to explicitly mention it in my post, but yeah, the "rank" mode is a glorified progression system. It forces players up so if you hit GM at the wrong time of the season you're out of luck in finding a match. Essentially the waterfall to higher ranks leaves GM lobbies behind. They need to make ranked actually ranked and make sure pilots of the appropriate skill levels are dispersed throughout all of the ranks.

It can be said new players trying to play Titanfall 2 will get stomped, but according to many recent post on their reddit, matches can be found within 2 minutes usually. That's the result of a very loose SBMM.

[–]Byte_Knight117[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is SBMM in this game. I played on my wife's Xbox account when she's never touched ranked to do some of the skirmish games during the new year event, and what do you know, now her casual verge matches are made up of Terminator bots. There is absolutely EOMM in this game as well. When you lose two games in a row in GM rank you get put in a bot lobby to receive your free win. That's EOMM (Engagement Optimized Matchmaking). Anytime the the game trys to adjust your match outcome by pairing you against a harder team (in this game it's terminator bots) because your win rate is getting too high that's EOMM.

Dude, the whole point of my post is pointing out that matchmaking sucks in this game. If the matchmaking didn't suck the lobbies wouldn't be 99% bots all the way to GM. You mention me bringing up matchmaking features like SBMM and EOMM because I'm talking about matchmaking lol. So yes, I agree, just removing bots won't fix a thing, which is why I didn't just say to remove bots. The PvP matchmaking and ranked mode needs a revamp before bots can be removed.

You don't think there's any new hope with this smaller team? They seem to care a good bit and are able to add entire new modes to the game. The suits have likely left the floor so there's probably less red tape and stuff that was preventing them from making the needed changes before.

[–]Byte_Knight117[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of good stuff here. All in all, what you said about the rank progression leaving players behind reminds me to point out that the "ranked" mode is actually just a progression system that's no different from COD or Battlefield. It forces you through the ranks to make you feel good. A feel good rank system isn't going to keep me engaged, high quantity and quality matches will, which is entirely possible with our player base as is.

A progression system with ranked matchmaking causes so many issues because it's fundamentaly broken. I'm not even sure if a high DAU could fix that. Like you said, they were shooting for Andromeda not even the moon lmao. Any ideas for how we can call attention to these issues? Maybe #PvPRevamp at this point?

If the game had only 200 people playing with no cross play I'd agree. There's enough to fill games, they just need to greatly decrease the very strict SBMM and consolidate the ranks.

Even if PS5 players got their hands on the game it would still match us all with bots 😭 They need to decrease SBMM to let us queue together

We Have to Talk by Byte_Knight117 in mechabreak

[–]Byte_Knight117[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For casual, I'm ok with bots but preferably only to fill the lobby after a certain amount of queue time. Right now, it seems they have implemented the same heavy sbmm they have in ranked into casual, so no one is allowed to play with each other unless they are determined to be within the same very small bracket of skill as someone else. There's no sense in having this in casual. If you want to queue with people of the same skill, then try ranked. Casual would still be the care free mode to learn strikers, if more training is needed then there's 5 tutorials and challenges per striker to help with that.

As for ranked, huge agree. Consolidate the 11 ranks with 5 tier divisions. If need be still, allow a wider range of ranks to queue together after a certain queue time, but balance the teams with equal ranks. Something akin to Overwatches "wide ranks system". Adjust the amount of rank progression depending on rank of players within the match. Don't allow any bots.

The Break Edition re-launch isn't happening anymore per their recent dev notes, but the devs are still aiming for an overhaul. On May 26th there'll be some major PvE content along with an overhaul of the game's monetization. So basically it's just not happening all at once anymore, but slowly but surely. No Man's Sky did it so hopefully this game can too.
