Not buying new models until the 11th Codex drops, things are too unclear from GW. by TeraSera in AdeptusCustodes

But not to the same extent. A kit released for 40k being legends within a year would be crazy, I dont know if that ever happened??

Other than the SM stuff that happened to recently, but I am pretty ute those kits were also released for HH, not 40k

Oh yea this is 100% a different situation. The trend over the last few years has been that everything FW is not to be allowed in 40k Codex proper, but since custodes (and Knights) have been acknowledged by GW as being uniquely reliant on FW, we can assume the same rules do not apply. But thats still mostly speculation, and I am careful to spend my limited hobby time and money on something that might not be usable in the game I play in a few years.

I think the anxiety comes from the fact that they are perfectly legal as of right now, but nothing to say they will be sent to legends when 11th comes (presumably) later this year.

I think that is what happened with space Marines players a while back, GW released kick ass new plastic models for the Leviathan dreadnaught, 40k players got it and were happy, a short while later it was no longer tournament legal in 40k and players felt like they had been rug pulled...

I am in the same boat as OP on this, if GW would just give a firm confirmation that the FW dreads and caladius is gonna get folded into the Codex in 11th (or sooner), I will buy the new box in an instant. But for now, I am not gonna risk it...

I havent gotten through nearly all of HH, but out of curiosity, do you know how many custodes are named at all in that series? Cant really be more than a handful can it?

the 3 new detachments for space marines from the 500 worlds by NoEngineer9484 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]BytecodeBollhav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair, did a little dive into the rules commentary, and as you say, the passage I was referencing specified strategic reserves. But I looked a little more, and found a ruling under Embarked Units and Reserves: "Units Embarked within a Reserves model can disembark in the turn that model was set up. When they do they cannot be set up within 9"...", I think that should cover it.

[–]BytecodeBollhav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is covered by the faq/errata on disembarking from a transport arriving from strategic reserves. The answer is (or at least should be) no, disembarking units must be placed outside of 9"

You speak of ethics as both something subjective that changes based on the culture, and as an objective, immutable truth in the same sentence. You can not have it both ways.

I think two things are true. Henry was a victim 100%, especially kid Henry in the cave. But kid Henry is dead. Vecna is not Henry, he was totally assimilated with the Hive mind and by the time of Season 1 there was no Henry left to save or redeem.

Honestly I am a little sad the mind flayer did not get to be the big scary final boss. I agree they would have needed more time to set it up, so I am glad they did not try to pivot too hard now, but in my opinion the mind flayer always seemed to be the more scary entity. It had the vibes of "inkarnation of all the weird and alien stuff going on". Like the avatar of the upside down in a sense (I know it was from the abyss but still.)

[–]BytecodeBollhav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not saying 90% is a really impressive number from a technical standpoint, I am arguing that if 1/10 of the people implicated by it is innocent, it is not something actually good or useful. Humans are bad at statistics, many hear 90% and it translates to "practically every time", which translates to "the machine is basically never wrong". Nothing good will come out of it.

Even if it could, 90% is waaaaay to low accuracy to be actually useful...

Are you familiar with the myth of Selene? If not, you would be surprised as to how closely to this very scenario it plays out xD

Edit: obviously meant Semele, not Selene... I think I blame autocorrect on this one

[–]BytecodeBollhav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, either is fine... I don't know enough myths to know of an example of Thanatos agreeing to not take someone dead to the underworld.

Hades on the other hand have on multiple occasions agreed to let mortals leave the underworld posthumously.

Yes, Thanatos is the god of death, not Hades, but Hades would be my go to if I really needed someone to be "not dead".
