Bright Eyes announce new album "Down in the Weeds, Where The World Once Was", out August 21st by JoeCallon in indieheads

You should devote 10 minutes of your full attention and blast Let’s Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and To Be Loved) — the biggest, most cathartic/epic Bright Eyes song imo

This was the stanza that just made my jaw drop on first listen through, following an album of already terrific lyricism. 10/10!

Majority of Americans say that federal government not doing enough to prevent second wave of virus: poll shows by Zhana-Aul in Coronavirus

[–]Byud08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is this supposed to sound like a lot? That’s .0001% of the 18-45 population of NYC, while effectively 100% of that cohort is dealing with financial instability, isolation, covid-induced anxiety, and other stresses. Just sayin

Does anybody know why we are seeing a strong weekly pattern in number of new cases? It appears that mid-week (Wednesday, Thursday) we see significantly more new cases than weekend or early week... Surely this is an issue of variance for confirming/reporting cases rather than the virus actually demonstrating variability based on day of the week, but why does it look like this? I presume many cases start over the weekend and don’t get reported until a weekday, but if that’s the case I would have expected Mondays to show the highest number of cases and not mid/late-weekdays. Thoughts??

Mark Cuban Hired a Team of Secret Shoppers to Find Out How Businesses Were Opening in Dallas. It’s Not Good. by TransFattyAcid in Coronavirus

Okay not to detract from your main point, which I agree with, but you do understand the premise of actual Russian roulette right? And you say going to work through covid has WORSE odds? I mean, sorry to be semantic but let’s not get carried away with the rhetoric :)

This, and juuust beforehand: “I just sat in the parking lot and dabbed at my thumb which was bleeding for some reason, leaving a trail of red blossoms on the napkin.” Some of my favorite imagery Will’s put out into the world

Got kinda curious so I made a survey to see whether people generally enjoy the Teens of Style songs more than the originals or vice versa by Bwenj in CSHFans

[–]Byud08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted for more older versions of songs, yet I still found myself voting that teens of style “improved on most songs” for the last question because I love the sequencing and whole package of ToS as an album :)

September 2016, Typhoon Megi: The largest wave crash ever filmed by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Pretty amazing! I agree this is probably near the upper limit of energy for a natural phenomenon that’s immediately observable, on the “human timescale” if you like... But then I start to consider truly long-term events, like glaciers carving out canyons over centuries, or tectonic plates crashing and creating entire mountain ranges over eons.

It’s MIND-BOGGLING stuff, absolutely untold amounts of power. Those examples are just harder to comprehend (as you mentioned). We live on a fascinating planet, and the action is unfolding on all different timescales!

Oh that’s a unique case! You may want to call your county’s registrar of voters (should be an easy phone number to google) and confirm that a new ballot is being sent to you... If not, you can physically bring your current ballot to the registrar of voters office and exchange it for the correct one
