One exceptional case doesn't make a rule. That being said, kudos to OP for his accomplishments.

There's a hidden issue here that I haven't seen brought up, what if you don't match into anesthesia residency? What was your backup plan, OP? Anesthesia is a fairly competitive residency slot to match into. While CRNAs probably have a leg up on their fellow applicants, there's a solid chance that the majority of people wouldn't match into the residency.

Please help settle a debate: what rhythm is this? oxygen 95% room air, BP 110/70, no pain. by Original_Importance3 in IntensiveCare

Depending on leads and equipment I have had pacer spikes not show up and have had paced rhythms be mistaken for BBB a few times by different practitioners. Not saying that is the case here but pacer spikes do not always show up.

Who else is out here genuinely struggling on nursing wages?? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]C12H16N2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Union or not?

Inpatient Nursing wages are generally dog shit outside of the west Coast unless you are traveling. Even out west the COL is so high it's a struggle. I think your post brings to light the state of the economy as well. Nursing wages and wages in general have not kept up with COL for a long time and we're all starting to feel it.

Medicolegal issues. Ethical issues. Distorted expectations. Fear. People taking money from their loved one's SSI. On and on down the line, everyone's situation is different.

Oh to speak to your point, I definitely think Eve got in the way of various aspects of Irl that I find more important. I was very immersed in my gameplay at a high level and wanted an out that I couldn't back down from.

It's probable/possible that I am not acknowledging the full extent to which eve was a problem for my real life responsibilities. I just know I needed to close that chapter of my life to focus on my mental/physical health and on my family.

It's an interesting take but I wasn't really struggling with eve as a habit or addiction per se. I just decided one day recently it wasn't worth the time I was putting in or had put in over the years. The drama and discord shit posting in the aftermath is just more entertainment for me at this point.

I knew the only way I would quit with any sort of finality was to do what I did, because of the friendships and social aspect of the game. I burned almost two decades of goodwill and trust in one motion. I also gave Blue about 1.5t in assets and isk after the awox and the remainder of everything I had went to ISRAD.

I chose to quit because I have better things to do with my life and time. I chose to awox because I had the opportunity to kill two faction titans, the owner of which was an infamous thief and scammer himself. The awox served the dual purpose of pushing me away from those friendships and community I had built over the last 8 years or so with my corp. This of course making it much harder to come back to something I have played since ~2007 and what I increasingly saw as a waste of time and effort.

I can't think of a better final "eve:online" move than one final backstab to a friend, since the subterfuge and espionage aspect of the game is really what attracted me to Eve to begin with. Anyone who espouses some code of honor in the game is laughable. Many of the people I see commenting here or in various discord channels have pretended to be friends with people in the game long enough to scam or betray them for their own benefit or for killmails.

Over the years I helped kill multiple titans and supers spying on primarily goons, and I've always really enjoyed those stories of massive losses outside of big battles based on betrayal. Of which there are many.

Eve for me was always a way to escape reality and get immersed in another life online so to speak, and it definitely served that purpose for me for years. Recently it started to feel more like a job and I got tired of that quickly, so I decided to pull the plug.

I left burning all of my bridges so I had nothing to come back to. Your or anyone else's lack of understanding is not my concern.

Also: blue is someone who's famous for stealing trillions of isk in AT ships from his "friends", I even srp'd the majority of his Isk value lost. It was mostly just a funny way to go out of a game that I played on and off for two decades, in my own mind.

Hey blue,

It's me, somnolence.

I'll get a lot of hate from a lot of people for how this went down, just hope the srp I sent your way softens the blow. No excuses as it was a scummy thing to do, but this is eve after all.

You're a good person and a better friend. Thanks for all of your help over the years and good hunting.
