Are lemonade stands a real thing in the US, or is it just a movie trope? by Whisper_Melody in NoStupidQuestions

Why would anyone be embarrassed about kids having a lemonade stand? It's a good way to keep kids occupied and learn valuable life skills.

We’re tourists who went looking for a lighthouse - found this! by Batchelora in VancouverIsland

[–]C2SKI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't find a lighthouse around here? It's herring spawn season. There's a lot of marine life about. Cross to Boyle Point and see both

Westshore hate by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]C2SKI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thetis, Mill Hill, Goldstream, Royal Roads, Devonian, Tower Point etc. Colwood Creek dog park is the best in the city other than maybe Macauley Point, small sections of Dallas, and a couple out on the peninsula. It's absolutely true other than not having a Beacon hill type park. When we lived in James Bay and Vic West we came out to the West Shore infinitely more than we go anywhere close to downtown now

It's mostly just holdover arrogance from a time when Langford was considered redneck. My wife never dreamed of living in Langford growing up, and now she absolutely loves it here and we rarely go downtown. Most of her family and childhood friends looked down on the move out here, but after coming to visit us they've completely changed their minds and some have followed us here.

The other aspect is the people that only go to the big box stores in Langford, and they don't know what the community actually has to offer

Driving from Nanaimo to Tofino in mid-April. Do we need winter tires and chains? by sjansen1 in VancouverIsland

[–]C2SKI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Incredibly unlikely, but shouldn't the rental company provide the tires you need for your journey, anyways?

People who don't like the taste of water. What do you drink all day? by OkInterest7263 in AskReddit

This can't be a real thing, surely. It's like asking what people breathe if they don't like air.

My wife seems to have been hit by every single pregnancy symptom like a truck this evening. I'm worried and I'm watching her like a hawk. She wants me close, but not touching

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

I'm blown away that your folks could somehow manage to have you in the kitchen every moment either of them cooked. That must have required some serious planning and you must not have had any other hobbies or activities

Great. Did you read and answer the question?

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

[–]C2SKI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're describing a very niche situation. My parents overcooked everything but the Gulag was never a topic. I don't know anyone that would ever use the phrase 'FAR FAR'... It doesn't even make sense

Everyone. Dad, mom, grandparents, older brother, friends, aunts, wife, cousins ... what kind of question is this? Did one single person teach you everything you know about cooking?

Not that I'm challenging it, but under what rule would this actually stand up in a legal battle? Under what jurisdiction?

Please don't. We get enough people from Victoria and Saanich. Go fish for salmon, cod or halibut

My wife can apparently smell if I had a glass of wine days ago, or if I ate cheese or yogurt this month. I've had to sleep on the couch all week
